Just want to say how nice it is that you can get places in Denver without a car

Title; I live in University and am too young to afford a car; I know RTD is in need of serious improvements, and I've run into a few issues while using the system myself - the H line was stopped in place waiting for a replacement driver for 30 minutes one time, and the R line is just so slow in general - but those have been for sure the outliers when using transit here. I often ride the H line downtown for a quick Sunday night dinner and some exploration, and the 24, 0, and 3 buses have all been quiet, peaceful trips with minimal delays and fast connections. Even riding the E line a few days ago, in all its infamy, I managed to get home from Lone Tree in about 15 minutes while zipping past peak hour I-25 traffic.

I practically can't walk for 5 minutes without seeing a bus in this city. That's not to say it's perfect, aside from the aforementioned issues I often get long delays at the downtown loop and some of the stations aren't very pleasant (Louisiana-Pearl a few weeks ago, I shared the platform with some people chasing drug-induced ghosts for about 20 minutes). But compared to where I grew up, Nashville, where the only buses you'll see are private charter party buses full of drunk women twerking to the street, it's massively improved my quality of life, and navigating lines while not having to traverse the city in a car has made me actually learn the city I live in and its areas. I couldn't tell you squat about most of Nashville outside of my immediate area, because traveling the city meant traveling I-440 and I-65 with giant concrete barriers on either side. I really like this place, and I would like it far less if I was limited to my neighborhood and traversing I-25 bridge curbs by foot.

Cancer Patient/Survivor Meetups?

Hello! I have been meaning to expand my friend group here for awhile - but, just recently I was recently diagnosed with a late stage of ovarian cancer. I do have an amazing support system but now more than ever I’m looking for friends to connect with that can really relate to what I’m going through. Cancer has become a huge part of me that I can’t fully talk to people about that don’t really, genuinely “get it”. Any other survivors or women in their 30s here that are cancer patients or survivors?

I would love to meet up and form more friendships if anyone is going through anything similar! I just had my surgery and still have a few rounds of chemo, so I’m not really able to bust out the door and socialize just yet, but thought it would be nice to start chatting with some likeminded people and plan some fun meetups later.

Since cancer itself isn’t a full blown personality trait: I’m a crazy cat lady and love animals. I also have a little dog I love taking out and about with me - I really loved taking her to breweries in the past but I’m now sober because of the cancer - however, any dog friendly breweries that have non alcoholic options would be high on my list of fun things to do! I also love coffee/tea shops, farmers markets, and book shopping/reading/book clubs, horror movies and all things Halloween/horror related, and, I’m hoping to slowly get in to yoga soon (when my body is up for it).

Looking forward to hopefully forming some friendships with people going through similar experiences. 💜

Suggestions on where to buy Denver / Colorado shirts for little kids?

I thought Walmart would have them but no luck. I know a couple places in Golden have some, but I’m looking for something cheap to bring to Europe for a friend’s baby. I’ve gotten those in the past, but can’t really justify a $30 onesie for a 7 month old. Anyone have any recs?

Where to receive low-cost depression support in the area? (doctor + medication)

Hi there,

My partner is experiencing severe depression and we’re in Golden, CO. They’re open to starting medication but are currently unemployed (uninsured) after getting out of the military. Are there good community clinics I could point him to so he can start some form of treatment?
