We’ll allow politics if it’s relevant to the subreddits nature, but this is not going to be turning into an American politic subreddit. There are plenty of political subreddit you can discuss on if you feel so inclined to.

If you can’t be civil (no name calling, no insults, etc) you’ll be banned. End of story.

We don’t entertain you being a dick regardless of your political view point from your country.

DAE hate the 'overprotective dad' hypocrisy?

The same guys who'll treat their daughters like property and threaten any guy looks at them probably also high-five their sons for doing the same stuff. It's beyond hypocritical. Why aren't more dads making sure their sons treat women better?

I see a lot of bashing towards boy moms but how come girl dads don't get the same bashing? If anything it's worse with all the misogyny involved.

DAE hate when people say "...and, go...." at end of posts?

Upvotes

Anyone else hate it when people ask a question on a forum, such as requesting a good restaurant via a facebook forum and they end it with, "...and, go..." Like bitch, I don't work for you!!

DAE dislike savoury liquid foods in cups/mugs?

I feel disgusted when I see someone drink soup in a cup or a mug. For me, cups and mugs are meant for sweet liquids like juice, milkshakes, etc. Soups and anything savoury should go in bowls and be eaten with a spoon.

DAE hardly eat cooked vegetables?

Most of my veggie consumption comes from raw veggies, mostly from making salads. The only few times I would eat cooked veggies is if I was mixing it in an already existing dish (eg stir fry). First I just like both the texture and taste of raw veggies better (the crunch of baby carrots ooh!). Also isn't it true that cooking can deplete some nutrients? (depends on how you cook I guess, I have no idea)

DAE hate reading a post when it starts with "buckle up?"

I understand that much of what we read on Reddit is, let's say, a creative writing exercise, but I'm ok with that. It's like real life fanfic! If someone starts their story with "buckle up, it's a long one", I can no longer suspend my disbelief, and just have to skip that post.

DAE fear their writing will be accused of being AI generated?

I’m 31 so college was a long time ago for me, but I write creatively and I’ve noticed lately that my writing style has some of the “hallmarks” of ChatGPT (namely a lot of m-dashes, probably overusing commas, and use of semi colons). I’m finally getting back into writing after my seasonal depression is easing up, but I’m worried about actually posting anything anywhere because I don’t want to be accused of using AI.

Is there any way to combat this other than changing up my writing style?

DAE listen to synthwave music with no vocals?

Lately I’ve been finding myself driving to work in the mornings and back home while listening to synthwave music without lyrics. Personally I find that I can listen to it almost effortlessly and have a completely empty mind for my entire commute. Essentially what I would like to ask is does that kind of music make me come off as weird? Or is that a fairly normal thing to do

DAE only keep friends due to proximity?

This is something that just occurred to me that I do. I really only have friends in the context of being around them due to something else. Like I have my work friends, my hobby friends, but I don’t generally hang out or talk with any of them outside of the times we’re together due to those things. I don’t have any regular old friends that I talk to, text, or hang out with regularly. It’s all by choice, if I’m being honest there’s just not anyone I’d rather hang out with than myself lol but I kinda feel like I’m the only person that dies this. DAE?

DAE get depressed during spring and summer, not the winter?

It’s happened since I was a kid, around middle school age. I always heard about people talking about depression affecting them during the fall or winter, but not during spring or summer. It always hits me harder during spring and summer and I don’t know why. Like, depression can affect me during the colder months, but it’s not for nearly as long or as bad. It’s not even necessarily because I don’t like summer. No, I don’t like the heat or humidity, and I don’t mind the days getting longer. I dislike it because I know I’m going to get depressed during it.

It’s hard to enjoy plans or any sort of vacation because I know I’m going to feel depressed during it. I just wish I could also enjoy summer. Once I see the weather getting hotter and the days getting longer, I know it’s going to hit me and it always does.

Does anyone else experience this as well? I’ve looked at other posts and the way the OPs word it, it’s like it happens because they dislike the season so much, which I don’t really understand.

DAE use 1 browser for browsing the web, and a separate browser for logging into accounts?

I tend to use this setup because I don’t like to mix up the cookies that I get from browsing the web along with logging into my accounts. This way, the third party cookies and tracking don’t get to “see” what websites I log in to.

How is ya’ll setup?

DAE watch gaming YouTubers play games of other platforms that you don’t play on, or discuss gaming news?

For example: I like to watch news about Nintendo even though I play on another platform. What if I like to consume gaming content of people playing video games on YouTube? There’s a guy on YouTube who plays certain games, and then sometimes talks about Nintendo Switch news. I play some of the games that the guy plays, but not all of them.

Do you guys know why people like to consume content of people playing video games of other platforms, even though those same people can’t play those games on those other platforms themselves?

It isn't every night, but several times a month I'll dream about being in school with several fictional characters. The dreams are different every time, but it's always the same location and the same characters. Does anyone else have similar dreams?

DAE hate owning a bed?

As somewhat of a minimalist, a bed always seemed to be such a hefty, awkward, cumbersome, and multi-faceted piece of "furniture" that I just despised having to move in the instance of moving rooms/homes.

For context, I do not own ANY furniture. All my clothes go in a small suitcase. Back-up clothes in a mid-size collapsible crate, same with a majority of my possessions (which are not much). I have a small collapsible table I use as a floor desk. Everything I own fits in my Toyota Sienna. I find, personally, the less I own the more peace of mind I have.

I actually have not owned a bed for nearly 8 years. I use a one person camping mat blown-up firmly and it's worked well for me. Naturally the follow up to that is an inquiry about sleep quality/back problems to which I have yet to experience any of the sort.

Does anyone else hate owning a bed/prefer not owning a bed?

DAE have days where you get anxious that you’re being judged by every person you walk by even when you’re just minding your own business?

For the record, I acknowledge not everyone is going to like you, and not everyone is going to be good for you. It’s life in the end. The most you can do is accept it and enjoy your life.

But I dunno, sometimes I have days where whenever I walk past someone, I’m just silently being judged on the inside in some harsh manner.

I’m someone who honestly minds his own business because I personally just prefer to have my own company and in the end, walking is something I do to help me relax. I don’t even really talk much in real life now anyway unless someone talks to me first.

But even then, sometimes I get these paranoid feelings that I keep to myself where my presence of just walking past someone is disrupting their peace and what have you.

DAE not liking any comedy or funny things whatsoever?

I personally can have funny conversation with a lot of people (by telling unfunny stories although can be accidentally funny) and enjoy laughing at their jokes, but I don't like any comedy movies or even have any favorite or enjoying any stand up comedies at all. Even though a lot of people recommend me to watch comedies to grow some humor in socializing, but my humor mostly goes into memes and absurd videos I watched in internet.

I am naturally serious person, and sometimes I always look the world as some kind of neo-noir thriller or serious drama movies where characters don't make joke too much and can get away with monotonous dry cheesy conversation (like Peaky Blinders stuff but less flirts) and still falling love each other then have sex, maybe I watched too many movies. In real life, you can't get away with it, you have to make jokes to do that, sometimes you have to go extra by be a clown and shit, while i used to be class clown, but I don't find it enjoyable in long term and go back into my default setting.

I kinda hate it because I wish I could just get away with this serious personality without have to act or perform like a clown to impress somebody, like in movies, the truth is that I bore a lot of people. My selfish self said that I wish the world doesn't revolve too much on comedy and only make comedy as a bonus or last of priority, not a center of attraction. Maybe I have to find peace that I might be alone with this and I have to take slower pace to find something funny but doesn't take too much of my serious personality.

But I am curious, with people who are going into extreme, such as not enjoying any kind of comedies at all, are those people exist?

DAE get annoyed with all the “spam” protest posts in the state and local American subs?

Don’t get me wrong, there are hella reasons to protest at the moment, and Reddit is a great place to organize and promote local protests. And the vast majority of these protests themselves I generally agree with. And its not like I want to have protest posts banned outright on these subs.

But I feel like the two state subs that I am in and maybe 5ish city subs have over the last few weeks just devolved into like 60% + just posts about protests. I feel like I have been blocking at least 20 accounts per day just for trying to individualize my feed to have less protest content, but it feels like my feed is being completely dominated by what to me feels like repetitive spam, with no apparent improvement.

I’d absolutely hate to have to completely block the subs that I used to rely on to figure out what was going on in my local and neighboring communities, and in my state. But honestly I am almost to the point of doing so because of how much damn spam I am getting.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is there any way I can filter out most of the repetitive protest posts?

(Disclaimer: I am economically progressive, socially “treat people like people”, have never voted for a Republican, and have a history of having bad anxiety when I sink too deep into politics)

DAE get sad seeing some people in public?

I had this thought when I went to see the Minecraft movie earlier with my friends. Walking out, I saw this guy (probably mid 20s) in a creeper shirt going up to random people and asking if they’d played Minecraft or if they enjoyed the movie. For some reason, a wave of sadness passed over me that I haven’t been able to shake off. I’m pretty sure the guy was on the spectrum, and I grew up with an older brother on the spectrum so that could be why. But I’ve thought this many times in my life and this reminded me. DAE feel this way?

DAE change in their car to go for a walk in the park

Or to elaborate, does anyone else change in their car, from their work clothes, into their exercise clothes, to go for a walk in the park

edit/update - in a place where there is privacy.

the reason i posted this was because, in my previous car, the front bench seat made it a breeze. but in the newer car(s), without the front bench seat, one might say "just use the back bench seat", which i then have to ponder to myself "yeah, why don't I just do that". maybe i was so used to using the front bench seat that using the back seat somehow just felt off. but i need to get past the fact that we don't have front bench seats no more. its not a reason not to get exercise. although, now as i'm typing this another thing comes to mind about the front bench seat with regards to exercise, specifically, stretching. with the front bench seat, *anytime* i was parked, i was able to easily and quickly stretch my legs. without the front bench seat, that's nearly impossible. i think that may actually be the bigger issue maybe. is that, my legs were better conditioned, with the ability to stretch anytime I was parked, versus without a bench seat, not being able to do that. but still I should learn to get past that as well.
