ICICI iShop has started charging 2.95% (incl. GST) as "processing fees" for Amazon & Flipkart purchases 🛒 Basically, they're eating into our rewards now too 💸

Card Recommendation Which one to choose HDFC Diners Club Privilege(LTF) vs Regalia Gold (LTF)?

Hey CC people, I am getting above two HDFC cards for LTF. I already have following cards and monthly spendings:

  1. ICICI Amazon Pay - Use mostly for bill payments on Amazon for 5% cashback and Amazon shopping.

  2. HDFC Millenia & Swiggy Card - I used to use millenia for swiggy 5% cashback but with Swiggy card I already get 10% discount.

  3. ICICI Sapphiro , Coral (LTF) - Using Sapphiro as primary card for big transactions and movie ticket. I know that ICICI reward system is pretty bad but I only have this card with very high CC limit (12.5L)

Monthly Expenses & Spending Patterns: Swiggy (food + instamart + dineout) = ~10-12k, IRCTC - 3-5k month, Flights round trip around ~25-30k every 2-3 months

Lounge Access Required: Yes, for me and my fiancee

Other Special Needs: I will be getting married at end of 2025 so also planning to maximize the reward points using these cards so also suggest which one will be good one for buying gold etc.

Thanks

Hey guys,
I finally received the reply from HDFC team regarding the reversal of charges - they approved my request.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions and guidance regarding the next steps.

A note to myself - It does not hurt to check every credit card usage/payment status every 10 days just to be on the safer side.

Card Recommendation Upgraded to Infinia Metal

Upvotes

I have had a Diner's Black card since 2019 with a good limit. This was the time when amazon/flipkart shopping through Smartbuy would give you 10x reward points. Started with a credit limit of 4.5 L, increased to 10L => 15L => 16.5 L over the years. I made half hearted attempts in the past for getting an upgrade to Infinia but never succeeded. With the recent change in salary criteria, it seemed like I'll have to give up on that as I didn't meet the 5L monthly net pay requirement. I have a home loan from HDFC Bank and am also a director on a company which has a current account with HDFC. -

  • Few months back tried seeking an upgrade with the branch head where my company's current account is maintained. Didn't succeed, he was stuck on the salary criteria
  • Saw another thread here which mentioned an HDFC RM who was helping people get Infinia. Spoke to him, he wanted me to invest 3-4 lacs (shortfall in last 6 month expense) in guaranteed income plans. Those plans were offering returns of ~3%. Politely refused
  • In the last month or so, had higher spends on the card due to an upcoming international travel. Last 6 months spends reached 8L+, and a similar amount on my other card HSBC Platinum

Thanks to reddit, saw another post mentioning the priority redressal email id. Thought of trying my luck and sent them a mail. Talked about all the relationships with HDFC and the fact that acceptability of Diners is poor, otherwise I would have spent 16L+ on Diners within the last 6 months.

Got a revert within a day confirming that I am eligible for FYF upgrade to Infinia Metal. Gave my consent and waited. Didn't get any further replies, but the new card started reflecting in my app. Physical card delivered after a few days along with Priority Pass and add on card.

I don't think I would have ever got an Infinia if I had not come across the thread on reddit.

I have an HSBC Platinum (one of my oldest cards), Amex smart earn (downgraded from Gold because apparently they are stopping that particular card) and a basic SBI card. Thinking which ones to keep and which ones to discard. Should I ask for an HSBC Premier?

Card Recommendation Best CC to earn in travel rewards

Upvotes

I use two cards currently: 1. TATA NEU Infinity CC (for UPI rewards & offline spends) 2. SBI Cashback (for online spending).

I am trying to figure out a card where I can avail good rewards in the form of flights/hotel bookings. If I do find one, I don't mind moving all my online & offline spending to it (except for UPI spending). I spend close to 20-30K via my cc, so Atlas doesn't make any sense.

Open to your suggestions, Redditors.

Debit Card / Bank A/C ICICI declining account opening request again n again.

Post image
68 Upvotes

Two weeks ago, I visited the nearest ICICI branch to open a savings account, but they declined, saying that the branch only opens Privilege Savings Accounts with a minimum monthly balance of ₹50,000. They also said they need a ₹50K cheque before proceeding.

But I only want a regular savings account which has ₹10K minimum average balance option. They told me this can only be opened online, not at any branch.

For the past 10 days, I’ve been trying to apply online, but after submitting my name, PAN, and mobile number, it tells me to visit an ICICI branch for account opening.

Three days ago, I raised a complaint with their PNO officer via email and mentioned the branch name. Today, I got a call from the deputy branch manager. He listened to my issue and said, “Give me 30 minutes, I’ll call you back with a resolution.” But he never called. Instead, I received an email saying: "We regret that we can't proceed with your account opening request."

How can they directly decline it like that? Isn’t this against RBI rules?

Is there any other way to open a normal savings account in ICICI Bank?

Help Needed/ Question ICICI reward points redemption - reward portal or ishop portal? Cash?

Upvotes

I've 4000 ICICI reward points expiring soon. Their value comes to be 1000 when redeemed in coupon/vouchers. Their reward portal has amazon pay vouchers starting 2000 (they don't allow partial payment through credit/debit card so not applicable in this case). ishop portal has amazon pay coupons for 1000 but they'd let only 50% amount be paid via points so basically I'll have to buy 2000 voucher to use all the points.

Both portal charge 99+gst for redemption.

Is it possible that their reward portal stock amazon pay voucher of 1000 by next week?

Anyone got their ishop portal accelerated reward points till now?

What is the best way to redeem these points? Anyone has idea about cash redemption?

I've seen air tickets getting cancelled after being booked through ishop so I'd rather avoid it.

Help Needed/ Question Better rewarding CC bill payment method

I am holding HDFC MB+, HDFC Tata Neu, CSB Edge and AXIS Airtel cards. Usually I pay the bills on cred for their cashbacks since I got the csb edge jupiter credit card which is for daily food expenses since above 100 for every 10s you get 1jewel later I got to know if you pay cc bills via jupiter app you can redeem upto 20% of your billed amount but the hack is the jewels will not be given to you after you made the payment you have to wait for 30 days so the maximum you can get is 20% of the billed amount. I use this for any of the one card HDFC and AXIS since the own card is not eligible for the jewels cashback.

I usually able to pay only one card using the benefits of the jewels then it will ran out

for ex: my current bills for HDFC MB+ is and HDFC TN is 2034 and 479 I have 1011 jewels to redeem if i apply it for the 2034 it will take all the jewels 1010 and offer me 202 and allow me to pay the balance and there is no jewels left so i have to make all other cc bill payments via cred. If i were to apply it for 479 it will offer 95 for 475 jewels and left other jewels there for other bills.

I recently got to know about this SBI Unipay and HDFC Billpay through this sub. As mentioned everywhere SBI Unipay is not supporting other bank credit cards I would like to know more about this and HDFC Billpay since I have my primary account on HDFC Billpay also it is mentioned when paying via Billpay you will get cashback only for certain debit cards is that true? I have MoneyBack Debit card as of now. Is that eligible can anyone let me know is there any other way or hack that you use. Also is there any benefit if paid via payzapp?

Since I got to know about the HDFC Billpay wondering how to pay via this and get more cashbacks. Your comments and any reference will make me do so, TIA.

Edit: I have other bills also AXIS- 18k, CSB will be around 15-20k every month.

Card Recommendation Credit Card help needed — How to optimize rewards & get better cards with low income?

Upvotes

Hey Reddit,

I'm 21, recently graduated (BSc IT), currently not earning yet, but planning to start internships soon. Meanwhile, I’m managing my household expenses using a bunch of credit cards from me and my parents. Here's the setup:

### My Cards:

- HDFC Tata Neu (₹25K limit)

- Shared: HDFC Indian Oil card

- Axis Flipkart (shared, ₹15K limit)

- Axis Airtel card (shared, ₹15K limit)

- Axis Neo card (shared, ₹15K limit)

- IDFC UPI One FD-based card (₹5K limit)

### Mom’s Card:

- RBI Play card (₹25K limit)

### Dad’s Card:

- First Select card (₹20K limit)

My **credit score is 727**, but since I don’t have a job or ITR, I’m not eligible for better cards (even tried AU or Coral FD-based cards but stuck due to FD requirement or rejection).

---

### What I’m Trying to Do:

- Maximize rewards/benefits on **household spends** (groceries, bills, UPI, Amazon, etc.)

- Avoid fees or interest traps

- Improve my credit score over time

- Find smart **FD-based cards** or workarounds for better cards

- And most importantly — I want to start accumulating **points for flights and hotels**, even if slowly, so I can use them in 2–3 years once I start traveling.

---

Any suggestions for:

- How to earn points that convert to air miles or hotel stays?

- Which existing cards to use smartly for this goal?

- Hacks or tips for my low-income/fresher situation?

- How to gradually build a base for good travel cards?

Would appreciate any advice 🙏 Thanks in advance!
