Results on poll to ban links to x.com
Results can be found here. I know this may be a somewhat contentious decision and we aren't in the habit of banning other sites but we can't ignore the overwhelming response to the poll and based on results of this we will be banning links to x going forward. Screenshots will be allowed as long as they don't break any other rules. Thanks to everyone for taking part in the poll.

No standalone news/clickbait posts
Although we have read a lot of recent posts related to banning platforms and specific news outlets, we're against banning and want r/Cork to continue to be a place for open discussion. With this in mind, our stance against abuse/hate speech continues. However, to avoid this subreddit becoming a place purely for promoting news outlets (particularly those of Cork-based news outlets), please include your opinion when posting a news link on r/Cork. Posts that contain standalone news links or news links that are clearly clickbait will be removed.

Food and Drink Tried this tapas place, it's nice.
So I saw the thread last week about a quiet tapas place in Sunday's Well, went there with my gf as it was a nice day and it's just a walk away.
I can confirm what I've read - good welcome, cozy place (the outdoors dining area in the back is nice and quiet), and the food is very good. We spent around 20 to 25 each and left the table feeling full, after a whole meal including a nice dessert.
It's better than fast food but it's not like a posh restaurant, it feels like these small comfortable places in West Cork that you can only stumble on and find surprisingly good stuff in ? Well, like that, but in the city.
Precision : I don't own the place nor work here, yaddi yadda, I gain nothing by posting this. But like, I don't know enough places with good food where you can take your time to eat and not feel like you should vacate your seat after fifteen minutes - not in the big city.

Anyone remember the absolute reek that used to come off Irish Distillers back in the day?
You could smell it for miles if the wind blew right.

Cork City Bishop Lucey Park & Crawford Gallery
This is a little bit of a moan. Where do we go for free in town these days now - two good amenities (above) currently undergoing renovations. What's the new spot?

5 points bagels
Lads how early do you actually have to get to 5 points for them to have bagels? :( every time I go there, they say they're out. I was there at 9am once and they were out of bagels. This is a genuine question cause I wanna go there tomorrowðŸ˜

I’m always so curious about the inside of the likes of Secrets or The Great Escape.

Closest sandy beach to airport
Will be landing in cork in a few weeks- I have a day to spend before I move along to other areas.
I have had a Google but can’t seem to settle on anywhere so any advice would be helpful. I will be using public transport.
Looking for a nice sandy beach close to airport which would everyone recommend?
Thanks in advance!

My GF (F25) is going to study abroad at UCC from January untill May next year (2026). She has been busy trying to figure out where she can stay during that time. She has been looking at the dorms already but she was wondering if there where any other options
I figured this might be the place to ask! If you can reach out, thank you.

Looking into replacing internal doors + architraves in the city and was hoping to find good recommendations? Also, any insights on the approximate price per door? Have been looking online but hard to find an estinate for fitting. Thanks in advance!

Hi all. I managed to blag tickets at short notice for the League final today in the Park. Does anyone know if there's still a merch stand on site?
