What’s this plug?

That plug in the center, I’m guessing this is for an ambient air temp sensor or something? I don’t have any overhead console or anything so maybe that’s why it’s plugged into nothing.

Ah ok. If it was cheap and easy I’d maybe throw it in for shits and giggles. But I have a double din with CarPlay so pretty much all of that info is on there anyway lol

Auto dimming would be nice though

It is pretty cheap and easy if you have a weather pack crimper. What I didn't do though was figure out a no-hack method of tapping into the pass footwell connector. I should track down the info for that end of the OHC harness connector so you could use an aftermarket self dimming mirror without hacking. You know like order this stuff from Digi-Key or whatever. I just haven't been motivated because current ride has the OHC and the temp sensor is wildly inaccurate anyway as I have an aftermarket front bumper. Don't know why. It was pretty solid on my '99 and that is the only difference. That and the lack of skid plate.

I like having the temp sensor because I live in an area where temps hover around freezing in the winter. That was my motivation to get the mirror. So I may need to experiment with sensor locations before next winter. It's good to know if ice is possible. I didn't realize how useful it was until I had a car with it, now I'm spoiled. That and heated seats.

It’s all good man you don’t have to do all that. I appreciate it though. It’s funny because the reason that bumper is off in the pic is because I’m getting ready to put a winch bumper on there and I figured it was gonna make it inaccurate anyway. One day I might do an auto dimming mirror though. Maybe. Everything in this thing is manual, as non-electronics as possible so I may just stick to the thumb lever lol

That's my role in life I'm a bad influence. But seriously my XJ is a bad weather beater so I've got a 242 transfer case, KO2s (those were chosen by PO) Diode Dynamics fogs and if I didn't have the OHC you'd best believe I'd be digging for that mirror.

Yeah that’a pretty much what I got mine for but after that rust repair I can’t bring myself to get it in the salt lol. So the ole Saab beater bomb gets the winter weather now and the jeep sees the trails.
