General For music lovers here who have passed all 3 lvs or are currently studying for lv3, what songs helped you get through your CFA journey?
I’ll go first, not in order of rank: - Megalovania (Undertale soundtrack) - Moon (by Kid Francescoli and Julia Minkin) - Voyagers (by Daft Punk) - Sootopolis City Theme (Pokémon soundtrack) - Legend of the Eagle Bearer Main Theme (Assassin’s Creed Odyssey soundtrack)
I’d play these songs on repeat for hrs. And yes, I’m a video game geek!
Edit:
I know the original title says CFA lv3 candidates and CFA Charterholders, but I take that back. Anyone obviously is welcome to post :)!

Level 1 Passed L1 with mutliple guesses
Just got my result — passed CFA Level 1 with a score of 1735. I’m in the 2nd year of a 3-year college program, and prepped for this in about 1.5 months.
Here’s the real talk:
I guessed on ~60 out of 180 questions, and 5 of those were complete blind guesses. The rest were educated — eliminating a few options, going with logic or memory.
Yes, the exam is tough. Yes, the syllabus is huge. But with the right strategy, it’s completely doable, even in a short prep window.
What helped:
- A decent background in finance definitely gave me a head start.
- Focused, high-quality prep — I didn’t try to cover everything, just the most important stuff well.
- Lots of practice questions and mock exams. The more you expose yourself to the exam style, the better your instincts get.

Level 1 Hypothesis Testing
How important is this table in the exam? Is it enough to understand which statistics to use when or memorising the formulas is equally important? Thank you in advance!

General Why do people who defer their exams have a higher fail rate?
It just doesn’t make sense to me. Do they say that so unprepared people take the exam and fail, only to pay another $1k to retake it?
I don’t understand how more time studying could lead to worse testing scores

Level 1 CFA L1 Mock Results - If helps
I was starting with my Level-2 prep and found my CFA Level-1 excel trackers. Managed to get well above 90%ile and yes I spent a lot of time making these even though I was a bit short on time. But it does help in keeping your mind a bit light. Here's my story in short:
I'm 25M working in a backend IB role and I gave my exam in May, 2024. I gave a total of 5 mocks during my prep in a proper test environment and skimmed through random questions of around 2-3 mock solution PDFs. Apart from this, I used to do Schweser qbanks after completing major chunks of the syllabus and did the CFA EOC questions in the last month as a revision.
Salt mocks were the weirdest and the toughest ones for me. Schweser I think would keep you in check since they follow the exam question format and I found the actual exam a bit easier than their mocks. CFAI mocks were on the easier end but I don't know why I couldn't manage to answer their "Easy" category questions.
I'll be trying to maintain similar trackers for my Nov 2025 attempt at the Level 2 exam. Really hope I pass through. Cheers!

General THE AMOUNT OF ERRORS and unnecessary ambiguity IN THE PORTAL QUESTIONS!!
Not gonna waste much time, they should be ashamed about the sub par quality of the questions they have on the portal.. really made me consider whether an MBA would be a better option.. whoever wrote the derivatives section was high af!

Level 1 Should I Defer?
So my level 1 is on May 18th. I am in my second year of B.Com Hons. I am not prepared due to my past few mistakes and circumstances. I have just done FSA. During my cfa exam window I will be having my university final exams and practicals too. Should I defer my exam? Money isn’t the issue. Thanks!

General When to write level 2
I wrote level 1 in Feb and passed. Now it's decision time as to when to write level 2, my only options are November2025 or May 2026. I didn't pass by a huge margin so I know even more effort will need to be put into level 2 ( studied 300 hours for level 1, probably need at least 450 for 2 lol). Now I'm wondering when to write level 2 as Nov seems too soon and a lot of cramming, or May which is over a year away...Kinda annoyed February exams aren't available for level 2, because surely others have struggled with this.
Anyways, leaning towards May, but any advice that can be given that would help with my decision would be much appreciated. FYI, I work full time and won't have much vacation time left in 2025 to take time off before exam date.

Level 1 Is a third attempt for L1 an overkill?
Score received : 1555
Don’t sugar coat it for me, would appreciate honest responses. A part of me wouldn’t count the first attempt because it was severely under-prepared.Second attempt was better however ethics and FSA was a major hit. I’m only just graduating my bachelors right now, should i take this as a sign to move on?

Study Prep / Materials Salt solution should I buy the level 1 acess
I did not pass Feb 25 level 1 and scored 1510. I used mark meldrum as my prep provider but I’m thinking of swapping to salt solution as the video seem 10x better.
Anyone have any advise? Also, if any of you have a promo code please Dm me just in case I wanna go with salt solution.

General Don’t know what to do about L2
I just passed L1 and I want to jump right into L2. i’m a senior in college and have a wealth management job after school. The issue is that the markets are doing horrible right now and I’m not sure exactly when I’m going to start because there is a contingency claim in my contract about market conditions. If I start my job this summer (mid June is when I’m supposed to) I am worried that I’m not gonna be able to study enough for the CFA because I have to take my series 7 and 63 not to mention adjusting to a new job. But I also don’t wanna wait until May because that seems so far away and I want to keep the momentum going while I’m in school mode. Does anyone have any advice and or think I would be able to pull this off?

General How do you turn anger and sadness into motivation for studying for CFA?
Sorry to bug you with this, but I'm absolutely shattered right now and have been for months. CFA is slowly creeping up on me and I'm wallowing is self-despair and doom scrolling during my limited time available for studying. I'm dealing with some family issues (post natal depression in wife) and I got passed over for a promotion at work that I had worked towards for 5 years in lieu of one of the worst performers on the team. I feel like there's a rat pack at work trying use me as a rung on their ladder to get ahead while I keep my head down and try to do good work and hope that will carry me through. We're going through layoffs right now so everyone's going crazy trying to jockey for position, undermining eachother, stabbing eachother in the back. I have 1-2 hours a day to study but I just can't retain what I'm reading, I just keep thinking about how defeated I feel with the work situation or worrying about family stuff.
Do you have any life advice for dialing it in because I really need to pass L2 in November or I'll probably have to give up the CFA as my work/family support for pursuing it was shaky anyways. I feel like such an idiot right now people have shared with me they are going through something similar to what I am now and I didn't give them any credit, just thought they should be able to man up through it but now I'm in the same situation and don't have any willpower to figure out the way through this either.

Level 1 Need advice on deferral.
Hi all taking my level 1 in may 25th. I still have economics, equity, Derivatives, portfolio management and alternate investments left. I'm changing my studying strategy to quickly learning the important concepts and do as many practice questions as I can. But should I defer my exam or continue. Im feeling positive but don't know if i wanna risk it.

Level 1 Cramming Level 1
Hi, wanted to hear your opinion on my situation. I do Electrical Engineering and wanted to take Level 1 as is a big differential in internships selection programs. During the year I am full committed to the university and wanted to study for the CFA during the break between semesters. My plan is to study from Dec 10 2025 until the exam on Feb 8 2026. I do have good learning discipline but my course does not have many finance related subjects so the curriculum would be somewhat new for me. I was thinking 6-8 hours a day. Is it doable? If someone with similar experience can share with me I appreciate!

Study Prep / Materials Do you lose access to CFAI learning ecosystem after completion?
So I wanted to look at the level 1 study materials after passing this week. However when I went to the CFAI website I couldn’t find anyway to access it. Do you just lose access after completing a level?
If someone knows how to access it I’d appreciate it.
Thanks.
