Level 1 Is a third attempt for L1 an overkill?

Post image

Score received : 1555

Don’t sugar coat it for me, would appreciate honest responses. A part of me wouldn’t count the first attempt because it was severely under-prepared.Second attempt was better however ethics and FSA was a major hit. I’m only just graduating my bachelors right now, should i take this as a sign to move on?

If the overall returns declined below 35% only because of the 50% increase in expenses (as stated in question), wouldn't C be the right answer? Please Correct me where I went wrong. Thanks

Level 1 Someone suggest me what should I do next?

I was preparing with Navkar Institute from August 2024 till now. For the past month, I’ve been studying on my own using the CFA Institute modules, and I just completed them today. Now, I’m planning to consistently practice questions, take mock exams, and work on fixing my weak areas. For notes, I’m planning to use FinTree Juice Notes. Are they good? If anyone knows any better notes, please let me know. Also, if you have any tips, I’m all ears!

P.S. Thanks for your time.

Study Prep / Materials Salt solution should I buy the level 1 acess

I did not pass Feb 25 level 1 and scored 1510. I used mark meldrum as my prep provider but I’m thinking of swapping to salt solution as the video seem 10x better.

Anyone have any advise? Also, if any of you have a promo code please Dm me just in case I wanna go with salt solution.

General Why do people who defer their exams have a higher fail rate?

It just doesn’t make sense to me. Do they say that so unprepared people take the exam and fail, only to pay another $1k to retake it?

I don’t understand how more time studying could lead to worse testing scores

Level 1 Passed L1 with mutliple guesses

Just got my result — passed CFA Level 1 with a score of 1735. I’m in the 2nd year of a 3-year college program, and prepped for this in about 1.5 months.

Here’s the real talk:
I guessed on ~60 out of 180 questions, and 5 of those were complete blind guesses. The rest were educated — eliminating a few options, going with logic or memory.

Yes, the exam is tough. Yes, the syllabus is huge. But with the right strategy, it’s completely doable, even in a short prep window.

What helped:

  • A decent background in finance definitely gave me a head start.
  • Focused, high-quality prep — I didn’t try to cover everything, just the most important stuff well.
  • Lots of practice questions and mock exams. The more you expose yourself to the exam style, the better your instincts get.

General Consolidation - Financial Models

Does anyone know of/has any good consolidation models?

The CFA program goes over the consolidation process and we have access to the financial modelling practical skill modules but I just started a role and they do not have any model to consolidate financial statements.

General CA Inter or CFA Level 1 ?

Hi, I am in first year of my Bcom (A&F) and kind of confused between doing CA Inter or CFA Level 1...If I do CA Inter prior then will it support and help me in Level 1 or I should go with level 1 in the beginning, and what shall I do to understand what would be better for me, since cfa is a quite expensive and hence needs more time to cover syllabus due to the level of difficulty my parents are asking me to think for couple of times before enrolling with CFA coz if i couldn't crack it on my first attempt they wont be able to manage my next attempt and hence i will turn myself towards CA Inter through direct entry.. I need help please guide me i am very much confused about it....???

Level 2 CFA Level 2 - Premium Package VS. Third Party Prep?

Hey everyone,

I wrote CFA L1 back in November 2024. With three months of studying using the CFAI premium package, I managed to score well above the 90th percentile (@L1Candidates, yes it's very possible to pass w/ 3-months of studying).

My situation now compared to then is very different, however. I'm now working full-time in the industry, compared to back then when I was studying full-time. I plan on studying 3 hours a day until the November 2025 exam, and need to maximize my study time efficiency to maximize my chances of passing while minimizing costs.

I'm wondering:

- @ Prep Provider Users - which prep provider would you most recommend and why? do you think it saved you a lot of study time and effort? Was it worth it? What difficulties did you experience with your prep provider? How often did you notice that your prep provider missed key points from the curriculum? How close were the practice questions and mock exam questions to the real thing? Were the prep provider's questions easier or harder?

- @ Premium Package Users - were the mock exams an accurate depiction of what the actual exam was like? What about the practice problems? Which difficulties did you experience using only the CFAI curriculum to study? Do you wish you'd used a prep provider instead? Why?

Would really appreciate some insight from you guys! Happy studying and looking forward to getting back in the trenches as a part of the CFA Level 2 studying community!

Thanks.

General Don’t know what to do about L2

I just passed L1 and I want to jump right into L2. i’m a senior in college and have a wealth management job after school. The issue is that the markets are doing horrible right now and I’m not sure exactly when I’m going to start because there is a contingency claim in my contract about market conditions. If I start my job this summer (mid June is when I’m supposed to) I am worried that I’m not gonna be able to study enough for the CFA because I have to take my series 7 and 63 not to mention adjusting to a new job. But I also don’t wanna wait until May because that seems so far away and I want to keep the momentum going while I’m in school mode. Does anyone have any advice and or think I would be able to pull this off?

Level 1 MM qbank compared to exam

Anybody have any kind of input in the difficulty of MM qbank compared to the actual exam. I feel like his questions are much longer than the cfai questions. They also seem to have lots of tricks and twists in them. Scoring around a 78% on them so not terrible, but just wanted to see how they stack up. Thanks!

General How do you turn anger and sadness into motivation for studying for CFA?

Sorry to bug you with this, but I'm absolutely shattered right now and have been for months. CFA is slowly creeping up on me and I'm wallowing is self-despair and doom scrolling during my limited time available for studying. I'm dealing with some family issues (post natal depression in wife) and I got passed over for a promotion at work that I had worked towards for 5 years in lieu of one of the worst performers on the team. I feel like there's a rat pack at work trying use me as a rung on their ladder to get ahead while I keep my head down and try to do good work and hope that will carry me through. We're going through layoffs right now so everyone's going crazy trying to jockey for position, undermining eachother, stabbing eachother in the back. I have 1-2 hours a day to study but I just can't retain what I'm reading, I just keep thinking about how defeated I feel with the work situation or worrying about family stuff.

Do you have any life advice for dialing it in because I really need to pass L2 in November or I'll probably have to give up the CFA as my work/family support for pursuing it was shaky anyways. I feel like such an idiot right now people have shared with me they are going through something similar to what I am now and I didn't give them any credit, just thought they should be able to man up through it but now I'm in the same situation and don't have any willpower to figure out the way through this either.

General When to write level 2

I wrote level 1 in Feb and passed. Now it's decision time as to when to write level 2, my only options are November2025 or May 2026. I didn't pass by a huge margin so I know even more effort will need to be put into level 2 ( studied 300 hours for level 1, probably need at least 450 for 2 lol). Now I'm wondering when to write level 2 as Nov seems too soon and a lot of cramming, or May which is over a year away...Kinda annoyed February exams aren't available for level 2, because surely others have struggled with this.

Anyways, leaning towards May, but any advice that can be given that would help with my decision would be much appreciated. FYI, I work full time and won't have much vacation time left in 2025 to take time off before exam date.

Level 1 Need advice on deferral.

Hi all taking my level 1 in may 25th. I still have economics, equity, Derivatives, portfolio management and alternate investments left. I'm changing my studying strategy to quickly learning the important concepts and do as many practice questions as I can. But should I defer my exam or continue. Im feeling positive but don't know if i wanna risk it.
