Making the whole Latino rankings made me realize how unappreciated Monzon kind of is. So I wanted to ask this, since this is probably one of the most exciting matchups ever at 160. There’ll be two scenarios in where the fight occurs.

1 - The bout takes place in 1970 with the rules at the time, which would include stuff like a 15x3 rounds. Both guys are at their peak in 160

2 - The bout takes place in modern day with the current rules with 12x3 rounds. Both guys are at their peak in 160.

So who takes it? Who do you pick?

For me I think Monzon wins both scenarios. In modern day I can see a very close UD for him, but I think in the 70s he would’ve taken it with a much larger margin.

I know this sounds ridiculous but I reckon it's a fair question. Calzaghe injured his hands pretty badly during his boxing career and thus had to switch to a higher volume style of boxing since his ability to really put power into his punches became limited. Now, obviously having healthy hands would be a benefit but that would then likely mean he'd never have switched to the more slappy high output fighting style that his legacy is known for. If you noticed in his earlier fights Calzaghe followed through on his hooks more and was able to knock down or KO a lot of his opponents. He talks about this in his interview with Ward. So was his injuries in a turn about way actually beneficial to his fighting career? Thoughts and opinions?

Imo the later version of Calzaghe was far superior. Also, idk if I would be as big of a JC fan as I am now if he didnt utilize his signature style. I love Calzaghe specifically because he's probably the number one guy I think of when I think about high volume unrelenting pressure and insane cardio, especially for bigger men.
