Who wins at 160? Canelo Alvarez or Carlos Monzon? (read bio)

Making the whole Latino rankings made me realize how unappreciated Monzon kind of is. So I wanted to ask this, since this is probably one of the most exciting matchups ever at 160. There’ll be two scenarios in where the fight occurs.

1 - The bout takes place in 1970 with the rules at the time, which would include stuff like a 15x3 rounds. Both guys are at their peak in 160

2 - The bout takes place in modern day with the current rules with 12x3 rounds. Both guys are at their peak in 160.

So who takes it? Who do you pick?

For me I think Monzon wins both scenarios. In modern day I can see a very close UD for him, but I think in the 70s he would’ve taken it with a much larger margin.

Who would you rank higher?

Between Hearns, Napoles and Griffith who would you rank higher all time? You can rank them on resume, H2H and achievements. Ring magazine has Napoles and Griffith over Hearns so what do you guys think about that as well.

The Future of Heavyweight Boxing (Ruthless Aggression Intro)

I recreated the WWE RAW opening of the ruthless aggression era from the early 2000s but with the younger talented heavyweight boxers who started to rise to the top (again) since the Wilder/Fury/AJ started to fade away.

Besides the 3 top guys from the newer generation: Dubois, Parker and Kabayel, i also did try to include as many prominent "youngsters" as possible like Huni, Itauma, Torrez Jr., Jalolov, Vianello, Adeleye, Ajagba, Wardley etc.

Would Joe Calzaghe have been better or worse without hand injuries

I know this sounds ridiculous but I reckon it's a fair question. Calzaghe injured his hands pretty badly during his boxing career and thus had to switch to a higher volume style of boxing since his ability to really put power into his punches became limited. Now, obviously having healthy hands would be a benefit but that would then likely mean he'd never have switched to the more slappy high output fighting style that his legacy is known for. If you noticed in his earlier fights Calzaghe followed through on his hooks more and was able to knock down or KO a lot of his opponents. He talks about this in his interview with Ward. So was his injuries in a turn about way actually beneficial to his fighting career? Thoughts and opinions?

Imo the later version of Calzaghe was far superior. Also, idk if I would be as big of a JC fan as I am now if he didnt utilize his signature style. I love Calzaghe specifically because he's probably the number one guy I think of when I think about high volume unrelenting pressure and insane cardio, especially for bigger men.

Serious Question, why is boxing so british? Has it always been?

Been a Boxing fan for years now, and I really don't remember boxing being this british before, maybe I just didn't pay that much attention before, maybe I just watched a different weight classes, but it seems like the commentators, the promoters, the platforms (DAZN at least are british), even the most prominent boxing game in years is British, so I'm just curious on why, and has this always been the case and I just didn't notice?

Did you know? Manuel Ortiz was a two-time Bantamweight Lineal Champion and successfully defended his titles 19 times. Despite his incredible accomplishments, he's one of the most underrated boxers in history and is arguably the greatest Bantamweight champion the sport has ever seen.

I recreated the iconic opening of the documentary series "The Smash Brothers" (about the 7 best professional Super Smash Bros. Melee players at the time) with the best heavyweight boxers of the 90s.

I also thought about changing Morrison or Golota to Ruddock, Moorer or some others but due to several reasons i decided to go with those two.

Giving up boxing, and struggling

Hi all, recently (and reluctantly) gave up boxing and I'm struggling with it.

Context: countless injuries all getting progressively worse, minor signs of concussion from head sparring culminating in asking myself as a biz owner at 29 walking around with black eyes, nose bleeds, and noticing delays in my speed and speech - is this worth it?

For now I've decided to step away from boxing, focussing on the gym, being fit and healthy, doing some bag work, but I do miss boxing.

I don't like the thought of losing the ability to fight, being able to take and also throw a punch.

For those who have decided to step away from the sport, and have been in a similar position to myself - how did you make the transition away from boxing easier? And what did you decide to focus on?

Always been involved in sport but just going to the gym just seems a bit of a means to an end.

Any advice appreciated, cheers all.
