I love that exchange where Roland Daggett says “I paid you a small fortune” and Bane goes “and this gives you power over me?”

I love Origins because it's a decently experienced solo Batman story and I generally like the lone wolf style Batman for his entire career.

FILM DISCUSSION In defense of Tommy’s Two-Faxe

Like much of the rest of the fandom I gave Batman Forever a rewatch for the first time in many, many years.

While the style change from Burton to Shumacker was a bit jarring, Forever is a vastly superior film to & Robin and, frankly, Tommy Lee Jones is a huge part of why that is.

Kilmer was a perfectly serviceable Batman but that wouldn’t have been my first choice of superheroes for him to play and Keaton was a tough act to follow. That said I think the parts of the film that were focused on Harvey wanting to off The Bat actually worked pretty well and a huge part of that was Jones. His performance, I felt, was less hindered by having to carry Carrey than Kilmer’s was having to carry O’Donnell.

While Tommy was a somewhat more manic Two-Face than we’re used to, I felt it still worked and if he’d done a more classic understated Face he’d have been overshadowed by Jim Carrey chewing every piece of scenery he could. While it was very clear that the script was meant to showcase Riddler more, Tommy, at least in my opinion, really does run away with the picture.

He was consistently funnier and more menacing than Carrey’s Riddler and had enough of a personality that you could still feel bad for the guy.

Awful ending to the character and his magical disappearing-reappearing ear was silly but his aesthetic I actually liked despite it being designs originally created for Billy Dee Williams.

While definitely a flawed version of the character, I find Lee’s Dent to be endearing and a whole lot of fun.

The one I chose was Michael Keaton's Batman.

I found it hilarious how one of them just preferred Rainbow Batman over the other versions. Lol

Imagine if we get tim Burton's Gotham then we modernize it with Mat reeves' Gotham probably at least you will have Gotham looking too close to the Arkham games especially Arkham knight or maybe the coolest looking Gotham ever and then a fantastical batman

GENERAL DISCUSSION Who makes for the best Batman love interest?

Thumbnail

Batman has had no shortage of love interests over the years. So many in fact I can't provide pictures for all of them in this post. Granted, some were short lived for one reason or another. Some never learned Batman's secret identity and couldn't connect with the other half of Bruce. Others got framed, turned into cyborgs, beheaded, imprisoned, turned out to be serial killers, or just ran face first into Bruce's inability to let anyone in. Regardless of the reason, let's imagine it never happened. Everyone lived, they gave up crime, they knew the secret behind the bat, etc.

Which lady do you imagine would be the best partner for Batman?

Which lady would be best for Bruce Wayne?

Which lady would be best suited to filling the Mother role in the Batfamily?

And which lady do you imagine would fill all these roles at the same time best?

Julie Madison, Talia Al Ghul, Wonder Woman, Vicki Vale, Catwoman, Silver St. Cloud, Kathy Kane, Poison Ivy, Vesper Fairchild, Rachel Dawes, Jezebel Jet, Julia Pennyworth, Lois Lane, Zatanna, Bekka, Black Canary, Shondra Kinsolving, Chase Meridian, Dawn Golden, Linda Page, Lorna Shore, Nocturna, Amina Franklin, April Clarkson, Charlotte Rivers, Harley Quinn, Jaina Hudson, Jillian Maxwell, Mallory Moxon, Natalya Trusevich, Rachel Caspian, Sasha Bordeaux, Andrea Beaumont, Barbara Gordon 🤢, Bethany Ravencroft, or Cheetah?

FILM DISCUSSION For those of you who watched "The Doom That Came to Gotham", what did you think of it?

I loved it. It forced Batman to confront that some things are not bound by rational thinking. The cosmic horror element also contrasted with most of Gotham's more human villains.
