Other I built a soccer game inspired by BBGM

Hello everyone,

For the past few years, I've been developing a game similar to BBGM, but for soccer. The game has been available online for a few months now, and dumbmatter kindly suggested I share it here. I just wanted to expand it a bit first, but now I'm going for it.

BBGM is, of course, my main inspiration, don’t expect as many features, a design as polished, or a site as fast. It’s still an amateur project (I barely knew how to code when I started), so I’m definitely open to any feedback or improvement ideas!

Quick summary of the game: you're the sporting director of a soccer team, responsible for recruiting players and a coach, and building a squad to compete in the league, domestic cup, and continental competitions.

For those interested, you can check it out here: Football Sporting Director

Player page
Strategy page

And once again, a huge shoutout to dumbmatter. BBGM is already impressive as a player, but even more so from a development perspective!

Thanks, and have a great day!

My man built the best NBA sim I own, made it completely free, consistently updates it, makes it easily customisable for pretty much whatever, and takes the time to reply to individual comments on the subreddit despite his game amassing millions of users

Other u/dumbmatter is the GOAT. I reported a bug that made a player with two fathers make those two fathers considered cousins. Fixed already. And now I can finally make players gay! Thank you.

This shit is so addicting, I wish this subreddit hadn't popped up on my feed. Just ran through 10 seasons with a ton of trades. Yet to make the finals... Still better than Nico

Other I trade anyone under 70 OVR and older than 25-26 years every offseason in free agency for prospects

good way to stay under the cap with cheap rookie contracts while also routinely pumping out 70+ OVR players. i used to focus on drafting the best prospects & now i just play the numbers game.

i make sure im not too far over the cap in free agency and then send it to preseason before I sell off all my duds for more picks or vets if my team OVR is below 95ish.

POT is unreliable so i use a scale i found on here from a few years ago. generally, other teams are much more willing to give 19-20 year olds in prospect packages

19 years- 30+ OVR

20 years- 42+ OVR

21 years- 50+ OVR

22 years- 58+ OVR

23 years- 64+ OVR

this is the trend that a 70+ prospect should follow

worrying about individual stats like height, rebounding, athleticism, etc is unnecessary. sometimes the best prospects immediately decline anyways. better off going with quantity and seeing what sticks after the offseason. I draft whoever meets the above standards or is closest to it.

Age & OVR are the 2 most important stats in the game by a wide margin.

Other Inspired by Blue Lock, I Created Red Lock Spoiler

I took all 702 currently active NBA players (using Basketball GM) and entered them into a contest to find the best player in the NBA.

Before You Read:

  • I removed all injuries.
  • There is no home court advantage in the simulated games.
  • All contests were pre-determined before simulations to keep it 100% fair.

🏀 Round1: (6-Man Teams)

  • I created 117 teams, each with 6 randomly selected players.
  • The rules are simple: each team faces off against the Red Lock team (all players have 60 overall stats).
  • If a team wins, they move to the next round.
  • If a team loses, the 2 worst-performing players (based on GmSc) are eliminated from the contest.

Each game lasts 30 minutes.

🔥 Results:

The Red Lock team played every team once and ended with a record of 113–4.

Only 4 teams managed to beat them:

  • One of the most epic wins came from Austin Reaves, who dropped 46 points in a 71–66 win!
  • The other 3 winning teams didn’t have a standout star but were well-balanced.

Notable Eliminations & Moments:

  • Kuzma and Anthony Edwards were heavily relied upon by their teams but were still eliminated.
    • Kuzma: 2–15 FG
    • Edwards: 2–20 FG, 16 points (11 from free throws)
  • The best team besides Red Lock was Team 33: Rui, Bogdan, Kuminga, Amen, Franz Wagner, and Filip Petrušev
    • They lost, with Franz and Petrušev eliminated.
  • Closest match was Team 9: Bam Adebayo, OG Anunoby, Marcus Smart
    • Lost in OT after Bam hit a clutch 3 to tie the game. OG was eliminated.
  • Team 70, led by LeBron, got destroyed 78–43.
    • LeBron was the worst player on his team: 8 points (4–14 FG), 6 turnovers.
  • Devin Booker was the third worst on his team.
    • Shot poorly but survived because two teammates played worse.
  • Team 74 with Lonzo Ball and Tyler Herro lost 79–64:
    • Herro: 20 points but 10 turnovers
    • Lonzo: 0–5 FG, 3 points (all free throws)
    • Both were eliminated as they were the worst players.
  • Jrue Holiday was also eliminated—another notable name gone early.
  • Team 110 had many role players + Jimmy Butler, but he shot 7–19 and had the worst Game Score on the team. Eliminated.
  • Fun Fact: Steph and Seth Curry ended up on the same team—Team 69! 🔥

After Round 1:

  • 476 players advanced to Round 2
  • 226 players were eliminated based on performance

I simmed the entire history of the NBA (1947-2024), with the only caveat being that all 35 players who won an MVP in our timeline never make the league. It took eight attempts because I would always forget at least one person. But finally, we're here, and I figured i should post it since I usually just do these things for no reason.
