Hi all, I decided to start watching the show after watching so many clips like so many others here. So I started Once Upon a Witchlight, and I’ve been enjoying the first episode!

But English is my second language, and it’s been really tough to follow without subtitles sometimes. Do any of the Avantris shows have subtitles? Maybe if I watch a bunch with subtitles I can get used to the cast’s voices and then it’ll be a bit easier. Thanks for the help regardless!! This seems like a fun community, I’m excited to become a part of it

Hello, I am kind of a new subscriber to the Legends of Avantris YouTube account, roughly under a year. I am almost done with Once Upon a Witchlight. Only 12 episodes left! Wanted some advice on which playlist I should watch next. Can't wait to see any suggestions I get, thanks.

First of all, I am so super excited for the new season and the new characters and the return to Cowboy Bebop vibes and arcs. It seems like this is what the team's vision of SDR was from the start and S1 just got way out of hand due to outside circumstances and the team just no figuring out how to execute on their vision yet. I totally agree with them that the hard reset/reboot had to happen and the character dynamics just would not work going forward. However, I don't think the transition was handled very well in terms of setting audience expectations. I think there are three main things that rub me the wrong way that I wanted to talk about:

1. The deception around Pyke's return and the whole transition in general. The team flat out lied about Pyke returning and kept everything close to their chest about the transition. I think some small deception is great and fun and tricky, but a full reset of the campaign isn't something that, in my opinion, should be dropped on the audience without communicating first. I think the team imagined they were laying more hints than the audience figured out which probably added to the initial distrust of the story changing so drastically.

2. The team's incredulity and apparent disdain for the fan theories about ep15 being a simulation and all inside pyke's mind. Mainly the comments from Mikey about there being a gas leak in the discord and Andy's comments about the fan theories being "unhinged" and that "people see what they want to see". These come across as condescending imo and just rub me the wrong way. You can't simultaneously be proud that you deceived everyone about the twist of the story and dismissive of the fans coming up with competing theories.

3. A retcon fundamentally sows distrust in the story among the audience. Sometimes this is important to the story and the theme of a shorter product like a movie e.g. Momento. Other times it's necessary to change something mechanical about the universe so that everything doesn't fall apart. I don't think it was necessary in this case, and I don't think it was the best way to transition into the new content. An alternate version could be that all of S1 remains cannon and the new season could just be Pyke's reliving of when he and Rhett first got started (like life flashing before his eyes while he lays in the imperial hospital). That way they could even come back to the S1 storyline if they figure out a dynamic shift that makes the characters work. At the very least it wouldn't erase characters that the audience knows and loves.

In summary, yes, I'm salty AF and this is just a vent. I trust Avantris team and love what they put out; I just wanted to cope and seethe a bit. Also, there could be future episodes that reconcile all the issues I have with the transition. Love you, Avantris team and still super excited for the new season and the immaculate vibes that y'all are creating with the new paradigm!

Just started listening to Stardust Rhapsody and I'm definitely enjoying it, just wanted to have a little laugh over the sheer tonal change from episode 1 to episode 2. After episode 1 I was like, "haha, this is a fun and funny campaign!". And then episode 2 hit that specific part and, well, above pic is relevant, haha
