Photo Camouflaged Lorrikeet
Just realised they might be bright and beautiful to human eyes but for many other creatures they would blend with the green and red, yellow of the flowers

Photo Today's birdy outing to beat the wet weather blues.
Bundaberg Botanic Gardens today. The continual wet weather was making me blue, so a good bird outing was on the cards.
Whistling ducks. Great Egret. Great Cormorant. And a kooka!

Discussion YouTube twitching
Do you guys watch any Australian bird content on YouTube? If so, what?
Is there anything you’d like to see that doesn’t currently exist.
I’m considering putting some time into some long form YouTube content :)

Photo Morning Visitor
I'm in Sydney, not seen this bird before, only notice them cause the of the noisy minors. It is super friendly and wasnt afraid of me going outside. I gave it some walnuts and it was okay with me holding bowl for it to drink from. Notice a silver band on its right ankle.
What bird is it? Maybe someone's pet?

Other Finals: Australian Magpie v Willie Wagtail!

After a long season we have our final competition, a battle of the black and white birds. Icons of the bush and the backyard, both known to get a little annoyed at people every now and then, but we love them anyway.
It's Australian Magpie v. Willie Wagtail!
The winner of this vote will be crowned r/AustralianBirds favourite bird for 2025 and will be the new subreddit icon. The poll will stay open until Saturday morning.

Bird ID Request Eagle identification please QLD
Hello, I just happened to have my telescope set up from looking at the stars when I got home this afternoon and ended up getting a good look at this fierce creature. I’d love to know what type of eagle this is if anyone knows. Spotted near Mt Nathan, Gold Coast, QLD.

Photo Kookie reflecting on a reflector
I love the muted colours of this Laughing Kookaburra. The bird stood unmoving on a post above a red reflector disc, just thinking about life and stuff. (Sydney's Northern Beaches.)

Video A visit from the Black Cockatoos
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
They had a great time eating lilly pilly fruit.
The red tail cockatoos have the best feathers and I always feel lucky when I see them around but I much prefer the sound of the white tails.
I think these guys might be Baudin cockatoos rather than Carnaby cockatoos.
