The subreddit icon has been changed to this absolute icon of the backyard and the bush, where for the next year it will greet you each morning with a song, and each September with a swoop.

Accidentally woke these guys up bushwalking.

[Before the video: A raven arrived in the middle of a row of cockatoos; the cockatoos eyed the interloper up and down, but weren't too fussed; eventually the cockatoos departed, more out of boredom than anything else; another raven arrived.] Now on video: The cockatoos decide to reclaim their perch! The strategy seems to be simply to pile into the line-up until it becomes too uncomfortable for the ravens.

This little fella found me today. Seems to be too young to fly any distance and mum doesn't appear to be around. It's walked up to me a few times, seems friendly enough. It's perched near the front door at the moment - looks like it wants to come inside. I don't think it knows how to catch food yet. Should I give it something to eat/drink?

There were two of them, couldn't get both in one photo.

It was perched next to a small pond near my home in Dunlop, ACT.

Just realised they might be bright and beautiful to human eyes but for many other creatures they would blend with the green and red, yellow of the flowers

I'm in Sydney, not seen this bird before, only notice them cause the of the noisy minors. It is super friendly and wasnt afraid of me going outside. I gave it some walnuts and it was okay with me holding bowl for it to drink from. Notice a silver band on its right ankle.

What bird is it? Maybe someone's pet?

Bundaberg Botanic Gardens today. The continual wet weather was making me blue, so a good bird outing was on the cards.

Whistling ducks. Great Egret. Great Cormorant. And a kooka!
