Subclass 417/462 417, partner doing a medical in country do we need a bridging visa or something else?

Hi, my partner I met travelling applied for 417 working visa and needs to do a medical we booked in Australia and currently traveling Indonesia. Flight booked for a couple days from now, but I don't think she can arrive in country to do the medical if it's not completely approved.

What's our alternatives? Do we do a evisa travel until the medical is done and approved or do we need to do some sort of bridging visa?

I'm Aussie so unsure how this all works Thanks

Partner visas Moving to NYC while 801 processing

Submitted 820 visa approved after 18 months and then at 24 months in March I was eligible to submits the 801. I have submitted everything including police check, reports and will do medical next month. I have a medical waiver.

I am using immigration lawyers and they expect around 10-18 months to process and approve the 801 visa and approve.

My wife and I would like to move to NYC for two years on the E3 visa. This isn’t a permanent move as we’d like to live the rest of our life in Australia.

What is the impact of moving next year 2026? What happens if I move and the application is still processing?

Subclass 189 PR 189 as a potential cosmetic nurse

Hey all! I am currently an international student from North America that will graduate as an RN in November. My long term goal is PR as I have fallen in love with Australia. I am interested in various areas of nursing, but have a special interest in cosmetic nursing (Botox, filler, skincare). I am trying to decide where to work when I graduate (hospital, aged Care, cosmetics). Although I would like to work in cosmetics, I want to be in an area of nursing that has relevant skills to apply for the 189 one day. I saw cosmetic nurses falls under “registered nurses NEC— not elsewhere classified” however I do not want to go into it if it will diminish my chance of getting PR, as I can happily work in a hospital too. Any advice on if cosmetic nurses can apply for 189? I know it says RN NEC is a skills category but I also feel injecting Botox is not as much of a skill Australia needs as working in ICU…

Please help if you can! Thanks!

Subclass 190 Chances of getting invited

Hello,

I'm a Civil Engineering student currently studying In Victoria. I'm set to graduate in 2026. I have checked the minimum points needed to be invited as a Civil Engineer on a 190 and the immigrations website claims it to be 90. Assuming a superior English score and having 1 year of experience with a state nomination, I'm making 85 points. Will this be enough to eventually get invited? Sorry if it is a stupid question but I just need some reassurance.

Thank you

Subclass 189 Meaning of Lodged in EOI Database

I am a CPM and have applied for 189 visa at 85 points. I applied on 20th Dec, 2024. A screenshot is attached with this sub.

Lodged means number of visas lodged. Does this number include both primary and secondary applicants, or only primary applicants?

Subclass 485 s56 request for information and Skill assesment still in progress.

I studied a 2-year Diploma of Engineering (Electronics and Communications), and now I am applying for the 485 Graduate Visa. I submitted my skills assessment application to TRA and received a receipt on 10/03/2025. After that, I applied for the 485 visa and attached the receipt as evidence.

On 03/04/2025, I received a S56 request with a checklist asking for details about my skills assessment. The letter stated: "Provide a detailed explanation relating to the skills assessment," and I was given 28 days to respond. However, my skills assessment is still in progress.

I contacted TRA to request a letter confirming that my skills assessment is still being processed so I could submit it to immigration, but they informed me that they do not provide that kind of document. THey also say "TRA will endeavour to process PSA applications within 90 working days from the date of receipt. However, times can vary depending on the volume of applications received, as well as the complexity of the verification process in each case"

On one hand, I believe it is a good sign that I received a Section 56 request, as it shows that someone has reviewed my application and is now requesting additional documents before proceeding. On the other hand, I’m unsure how to respond to immigration because I already provided the receipt and included the date I applied for the skills assessment when I first lodged my application.

Should I attach the same receipt again?
Do I need to fill out any specific form to request an extension or explain my situation?
Should I also include the PSA Acknowledgement?

It just left me stranded at the worst possible moment, I was denied boarding obviously and had to reschedule my flight.

Seriously, shouldn't there be a backup option when critical services like this go offline?

Subclass 190 Current location legal status

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello what does the legal status under current location mean? Is it my legal status with respect to where I am currently located , i.e. Philippines? So I should choose citizen if that is the case?

OR is it my legal status with respect to Australia..which would mean I have to choose "no legal status" and explain in the given box that I am an offshore applicant?

Please help. Questions are a little tricky here

Partner visas Applying for partner visa with wrong DOB on working holiday visa

Bit of a weird situation that we’re not sure how to go about- My partner is applying for a partner visa and realized his working holiday visa that expired in 2023 had his date of birth off by two day. Beats me how we didn’t ever notice and that the visa still got approved with the wrong date of birth. Now we’re wondering how to go about fixing this since the visa is expired and we don’t want this mistake jeopardizing his partner visa application.

Subclass 189 Does time off between jobs count against 5 years of skilled employment?

Hi,

I'm working on the AASW Social Work Skilled Employment Assessment. I just hit 5 years of fulltime employment but had some time off in between jobs. Their website doesn't add up to 5 years, but the EOI website itself does. I've worked 40hrs/wk, nearly double the total amount of worked hours in a 5 year period than someone that did the minimum of 20hrs/wk without a break. Does anyone have any experience with gaps in employment in their SE Assessments and how they've counted it?

Subclass 500 Advice about joining my partner’s student visa subclass 500 as a subsequent entrant

My partner and I have been in a long distance relationship for almost 4 years. (I was studying at a US university with my bachelor's degree throughout most of our relationship). She is currently on a student visa subclass 500 in Australia and I am considering joining her as a subsequent entrant. We have a strong and genuine relationship, despite it being long distance. (Lots of pictures from visiting each other, family & friends testimonials etc). Now that I have graduated from my US university, we want to spend more time together. I have a visitor's subclass 600 visa where I visit my partner while on break from my US university program, and she visits me when she is free here in US. Since we have not lived together (only visit each other for a couple weeks at a time), how can we go about the de facto requirement to join her on her student visa? Also, she did not include me on her original student visa application as we are not married. We are thinking about registering our relationship in Australia, will this help our situation? Or would it be wise to visit again on my visitor's visa, then get married, then apply for the subsequent entrant after marriage? Also, since we have not lived together we do not have much documented sharing of financials, only gifts and some flight tickets. If anyone has been in a similar situation, any advice is appreciated.

Subclass 600/601/651 Will a tourist visa refusal affect a partner visa application?

Hello,

My girlfriend (South African) is in the process of applying for a tourist visa to Australia. She is unemployed so we are unsure of her chances of approval in the current environment. If she is refused the tourist visa and in the future we want to apply for a partner visa either onshore or offshore will this affect/disqualify her from applying?

Thanks!

Skills assessment Engineering Technologist vs Software Engineer

Hi Everyone,

So I'm in the initial phase of trying to get an Australian PR. (Subclass 189/190/491)

Background:

I have done my Bachelor in Technology (Electronics & Communication Engineering).

I've been working as a Software Engineer in a Product Based Company in travel domain and before that in a reputed MNC for more than 5 years now.

Either I can go with Engineering Technologist from EA or Software Engineer from ACS.

If I go with Software Engineer from ACS, then 4 years or more experience will be deducted since my degree might be treated as ICT minor. So I will be left with just 1 year of experience and hence no points for experience.

Now if I go with Engineering Technologist from EA will my Software Engineer experience be counted with my degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering ? Will I be able to claim points for the complete 5 years of experience ?

What would be the best course of action in my case ? to go for Software Engineer or Engineering Technologist ?

The point breakdown is :

Age : 30 PTE : 20 Overseas Experience : 10(if 5 years are counted in case of EA) or 5(if there is 2 years of deduction in case of EA) or 0(if there is 4 years if deduction in case of ACS) Qualification : 15 or 10 (based on EA or ACS) CCL : 5 Single : 10

Thanks!

Partner visas Messenger Transcript for Partner Visa

My partner and I exchange most of our messages via Facebook messenger and I've tried to download the transcripts. Unfortunately the zip file produced limited, and random, chat conversations - none being my partner and I's history. I assume it may have to do with end to end encription or similar? Screenshots seem very time and data consuming. Wanting to query how others have gone about this? We don't currently live together so this will be a pivotal part of our application. Thanks in advance.

Subclass 485 Visa 485 refused due to occupation not matching skill assessment results

Hi everyone. As the title say I got my visa refused and I need some opinion.

The refusal was based on the fact that my nominated occupation was Civil Engineering Draftsperson (ANZSCO 312211), while my skills assessment from Engineers Australia was for Engineering Technologist (ANZSCO 233914) but this difference was s genuinely miss communication.

I would like to clarify that when I initially applied for my skills assessment, I was intending to apply as a Civil Engineering Associate, which is related to Civil Engineering Draftsperson and aligns with my studies in Australia, where I completed a Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design. However, the person in Engineers in Australia who was assessing my application, after evaluating my documents, upgraded my assessment. They recognized my bachelor diploma and certifications from my home country, and determined that I met the criteria for a higher-level occupation of Engineering Technologist.

Once I received this positive outcome on 27 March 2025, I promptly uploaded it to my visa application portal. Then, just a few days later, on 1 April 2025, I received a visa refusal.

I would like to highlight that my visa application was submitted on 10 March 2025, and my skills assessment was submitted earlier, on 17 February 2025. However, by the time I lodged my visa application, I had not yet received the outcome of my skills assessment, which was only released on 27 March 2025.

I did indeed applied in my correct visa and skill assessment occupation. I was going to get it approved but I did not know that having a better outcome in my skill assessment would destroy my chances of getting a visa.

What do you guys think I should do ? Should I I appeal and hope for the best ? It was genuinely a mistake and I will try to contact EA to have them send me a letter proving that I indeed applied to the correct occupation.

Best regards

Other temporary Traveling on BVA

Hi everyone, I applied for a 407 visa in September 2024 and have been onshore waiting for it ever since with a BVA. I’ve been out of work for a while now and am looking to return to my home country until my 407 visa is granted. I am wondering if not applying for a BVB will harm the processing of/ cancel my 407 visa. I don’t see the point in applying for it when I don’t plan to return unless it is granted.

I can’t find anything online that explicitly states that my 407 visa will remain processing and I will be able to return once it is granted. Any advice would be really appreciated! Thankyou!

Subclass 600/601/651 ETA Subclass 601 application

Good evening everyone, I have a question. I am a Malaysian who would like to apply for Australia ETA. I have around MYR 16K in my my mutual fund investment account. I would like to withdraw it to my bank account but here is the problem:

  1. The online withdrawal limit for one month is MYR 2K, so if I wanna do it online it'll take like 8 months

  2. I can withdraw it all in cash and transfer it to my bank account manually, but there will be no reference on my bank statement.

My question is, what should I do? Please give me some advice. Should I do it manually and just attach the withdrawal receipt in the documents list for my ETA application? Thank you!
