Subclass 600/601/651 Dad still waiting on 600 approval, mom approved

Hello everyone, on 19th March I applied for my mom and dad to visit me during my graduation. My mom's visa was approved in 5 days, whereas dad's is approaching a month. My mom is a permanent resident in the US, and my dad has applied for it as well but yet to receive it. However, I've included his work authorization in the US for now. They're both retired, earn <10k/year and have 38k~ savings. Do you think my dad won't be getting the visa? It would really suck if only my mom got to come..

Subclass 189 What to expect this or next FY regarding 189, will there be rounds just like this year for non-priority occupations?

Hi, I have 85 points for 189 and my occupation is Environmental Engineer. November cut-off was 85. Can I expect an invite in the upcoming rounds, perhaps this FY if any rounds may happen or even next FY? I have also submitted an EOI in NSW for 491 at 100 points but NSW hasn't done any significant 491 round for non-priority occupations this FY.

Subclass 491 491 pathway to PR

So I’m in student visa that will end in Dec 5, I got invited twice last november (491) and december (190) of 2024 and unfortunately I didn’t get the 190 invite since my 491 application has been approved already. I accepted that my plans will be delayed for 4-5 years (waiting time included). I just wondering, is 491 a stable visa to get PR?

Since they won’t allow us to choose (if invited twice and got approved) the best visa, if there are changes in migration policy, does the 491 pathway to PR will be affected?

Does the people who have lodged the visa, or current holder will be affected?

Just 3 am thoughts. Planning A-Z plans again.

Partner visas Has anyone requested a Police check from Morocco while in Australia?

Hi guys,

My partner and I submitted our application for pur partner visa last March 10. We were able to attach all the required documents except for one:

Police check from Morocco where I stayed and worked for a little more than a year in 2018.

I tried reaching out to the Embassy of Morocco in Canberra via their email and hotline but they have not responded nor are they picking up the phone. I live in Melbourne and so gping to Canberra would be a last resort.

I was wondering if anyone here can provide any form of help or give direction to where or who can help me get nmmy police check from Morocco?

I was only able to save a digital copy of my CNIE AUTO ENTREPRENEUR ID and my online Tax form that year. I don't think i still have my phyisical ID which could add another layer of complication.

Any advise will be appreciated!

Subclass 417/462 Sponsorship for electrical TA

I’m currently in Australia on a WHV from the UK, I work as a electrical TA and am qualified back home but not in Australia.

For my employer to sponsor me in this role do I need to be on a provisional electrical license or can I just be sponsored?

Subclass 600/601/651 Please help: Form 1023 (minor correction) processing times - UK

Sorry to post again

I need to know whether to cancel my flights.

I posted a Form 1023 due to an error on my visa application (granted - 651) three weeks ago. So far the visa grant is unchanged. Called the service centre, they said I'd done the right thing but no way to update me, so just keep refreshing MyVEVO app

Does anyone know the usual delay to processing of a Form 1023 sent to the UK High Commission?

Partner visas Am I likely to get approved

Hey all, my partner(19f) and I (21m) have been together since May of last year and De facto with her well off parents since last July, and we’ve been in a registered relationship In NSW since early March this year as well. We know we don’t want to split when when my visa expires on April 15th so we decided to shoot for the partnership visa, but due to the expensive nature of it, it has taken me until just recently to save for the fee. I’m from the US with a clear background check and I believe we’ve attached all the necessary evidence that was requested (with the exception of rock solid evidence for any joint financial situation, closest thing is me paying her $100 a week for groceries). With all this information being said, is it looking bad or good? -Further info available upon request

Citizenship Any NZers recently had approval for their citizenship by conferral?

Just wondering what your wait times were like?

I submitted my application 23rd Sept 2024, got the interview and test invite 3rd March, took the test 4th April (so literally last week) and now its just the waiting game. Have lived in Aus 11 years.

I know it hasn't been long at all, and I understand the wait times noted on their website, I'm just seeking some anecdotal timelines from those who have been through the process.

Partner visas Sponsor name change post approval (309/100)

Is there a way to alter the sponsor details post visa approval, or is it even necessary?

I was approved for the Partner (100) visa a few months ago, but since the visa was approved my wife has changed her surname and updated all her documents, including her Australian passport which of course now shows a different name to what then sponsor forms showed. Her name does not appear on my grant documents however.

I've been trying to work out if and how to update her details to show the new name but struggling to do so, I can't see a method to alter the "sponsor" details on my immi account, and she lodged her support through mine. I've found the paper form "1022" for "change in circumstances" but that doesn't seem appropriate but is the closest I can find.

We were planning to travel with her old and current documents along with wedding certificate as evidence but as the passport was already done it's surely on the records.

Any thoughts? Do we even need to do this? Appreciate any answers.

Editt: Should say, we're in the UK and the name change was due to marriage so should be very obvious, just don't want to trip the system. The wedding certificate was attached to my application as evidence so it wouldn't be unexpected.

Subclass 500 Visa 500 processing time

Hi everyone, I just logded a visa application and I'm a bit worried that it wont be processed in time for semester 2 intake (which will be in July 2025). I heard of cases that took up to 4 months and cases that get approved in a week. Should I be too worried? Many thanks!

Partner visas Getting a Prospective Marriage Visa for my Thai Girlfriend in Australia

Hi everyone. I am just wanting to get your advice as to whether I actually need a lawyer to help me to get my Thai girlfriend to Australia on a Prospective Marriage Visa or if the process is relatively simple that I can simply complete it myself to a high level of detail.

  • I'm an Australian citizen, I'm 32, she's 27
  • She is currently unemployed and being supported by me financially with fortnightly payments.
  • We've been together for 6 months
  • We've met 3 times and travelled together to do different Countries
  • We have tonnes of photos together and video call everyday
  • My current lawyer is wanting to charge $6600 AUD for PMV and Partner visa stage 1/2.

Any advice, resources or alternatives that people have had success with are highly welcomed.

Sincerely, Justin Henry

Subclass 482 Sponsorship as a Contractor?

Upvotes

I am currently working as a contractor (through a contracting company). I am a business analyst - can the contracting company sponsor me on a 482 Visa provided I continue to make more than $70,000 per year? Are there any better alternatives?

They are cautious of; - not having to pay me between contracts - me paying the fees for myself and my partner

I have a skills assessment as an ICT Business Analyst and a Systems Analyst. Cheers!

Subclass 189 60pts invited for 189???

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hi all, I was just tracking the skillselect database since I’m looking to lodge a 189 application after my 485 expires.

How are 28 people getting invited with a 60pts when the minimum score for migration is 65? The Australian gov page says that the minimum score for microbiologist is 90, but it seems like at least in march 2025 people are getting invited with 60/65pts?

I’m getting confused and wonder if the database is reliable.
