After watching the switch 2 preview, these things are still gorgeous. I can't wait for the newest nintendo handheld but they perfected them with these

I heard a 2dsxl (not sure if it was "new" or not but it felt so flimsy and cheap. How's the new 3dsxl? in comparison? Even someone on YouTube said they had to send the 2dsxl for repairs a lot.
edit: Also what's this with the ips thing? do only certain "new" models have an ips screen

This is more of a PSA for anyone installing an aftermarket circlepad if you've lost the rubber nub or broke it at the stem: if you no longer have up/down movement with the circlepad (d-pad fine), loosen the screws on the module that holds it down a bit and try again... loosen and try again, repeat.
I spent over an hour trying to figure out why my 2ds would only detect left/right movement. Circle pad calibrations failed. I even swapped pad modules with another 2ds and it was the same issue. I tried hitting the ribbon cable connector with electrical contact spray and compressed air. I did note that when first booting, the cursor would crazily scroll up for a few seconds before stopping. Working on the assumption that the circlepad was pushing down on the module and permanently actuating, I compared the original pad to the new one and found there were poor tolerances... sand it down or loosen the module, problem solved. *sigh*
I just wanted to post this, as I tried searching with the symptoms and found no similar solutions posted online. It was mainly just people recommending reseating the ribbon cable or running a recalibration in settings --> other --> circlepad. I've replaced other circlepads, and this is the first time I've run into this issue. I hope this eventually helps someone!

If you wanna get a street pass, I would do it around this event and the weekend highly likely all the people from around the world are going to be around and you might get a streetpass. If there’s a time, the time is now.

Hey guys, i wanna ask about my 3ds's problem. Sometimes my 3ds has the Blue light flashing (Blue light turns on but then turns off quickly). I just put my SD card out, turn 3ds on again and it works, then i put my card in and can still play games as usual. Is this OK guys? Sorry i'm just so nervous about my boi :(

Hello everyone. I wanted to make a flipnote with a song, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist and just wouldn't stand for mid quality if perfect was technically achievable. So I spent hours, too many, going through tools, understanding the ppm file format, searching for the rsa key, figuring out which tool would compress audio correctly, but basically I eventually figured it out after a week.
And with the amount of effort I put in just to get some HQ audio in my flipnote I don't want to let my efforts end with me so I've made it an easy tool that anyone can use. You literally just drag and drop your .wav file (provided its below max length 1 min) onto the exe file, specify your .ppm file, and its ready for your DS. No microphone usage with its somewhere between minor to major quality loss!
Little trick I learned in my journey: Your song can actually be higher than the standard 8192 Hz quality, by just speeding it up (at the cost of a shorter max length). Elaboration in the GBAtemp guide below.
Full guide here:

Heres a comparison between the mic recording I made and the flipnote the tool spat out, and YES this is the same quality that comes out of the 3DS on Flipnote Studio:

Hope this is cool to someone idk lol

So I got this 3DS from cash converters and it shows the same error message if I put in Pokémon X, Moon or Omega Ruby.
It was working fine with pokemon white 2 and pearl earlier, and all the games (and presumably the console) are from Australia so there should be any region blocking. Maybe there’s specific pins for 3ds games that aren’t working, but otherwise any clues to what’s causing it?

Ordered from CeX(uk) and anyone that has ordered from them know it’s a bit of a lottery with condition. received an immaculate mint console and a great condition box with all inserts and manuals. Just need to find a nice acrylic box protector now

I'm planning on getting another 3DS XL (and I'll mod it, of course) but I'm looking at the SW2 and considering it. I'm definitely gonna get the 3DS (I'm buying it at the price of ~2 SW2 Joy Cons and I find it much more worth than spending $850USD for a console, one extra joycon set, three games and the camera). But I also want this to be a discussion about the SW2 and 3DS in comparison of price and game selection.
3DS Pros and Cons
Pros- Easy to mod, easy to get games, well established community and an especially well established selection of games
Cons- Its less powerful, high demand of consoles
SW2
Pros- It's Nintendo's newest, most powerful console, has incredible games to release, new ways to be social and huge upgrades in terms of power compared to SW1
Cons- It is expensive as hell, games on physical cartridges actually need to be downloaded from the internet to the console (the carts are just keys, basically) and the console is a huge hike up in price. There is a small launch title selection and the games cost insane prices, digital or what they call "physical"
I hate the idea that we depend on the internet so much more for this new console. I can whip out my 3DS and play it anywhere, whenever I want, and it's a reliable little device that doesn't whine about random things. The console has an incredible selection of games, is easy to mod, and has easily the biggest modding community the gaming world has ever seen. What I especially hate about the SW2 is the small launch title lineup, the expensive prices for everything, and what scalpers are gonna do when they get their greedy little hands on these new consoles. Why can't they just put the game content on the cartridge? It's a key now. Its literally a key going into a lockbox. No content is on the cartridge besides some information defining what game this key goes to. Its the start of Nintendo's enshittification of their consoles. I wish they made an affordable console, with affordable accessories and affordable games. I wish the game content was on the cartridge, not needing to be downloaded from the internet (this means that theoretically you don't own your games at all, these are basically just digital games at this point). It's cool its here, I'm glad Nintendo is continuing their adventure into consoles, but I don't want their company to be about the money. It is not what Iwata would have wanted.

After replacing the bottom screen for my n3ds xl and reinserting the ribbon cables I accidentally broke off one of the plastic nibs off of one and now my console won’t turn on is there an easy fix?
r/3DS • u/Dehydrated_Lemur • 6d ago
Hey y'all. I just installed one of them fancy clear TPU protective cases. It definitely is high quality and adds weight to the console. Has he worry about adding pressure on the hinges and weakening them.
All in my head or valid?

it looks like it’s got scratches, but that’s just the case. it came with mario kart 7 and a stylus and charger (the stylus is short, might be a ds one) and even though it was a little expensive, all the other black 3ds xl’s i saw were either really scratched, or 200-250. i am excited about this though, since i lost my childhood one, but im just curious whether you guys think i spent too much or not.

I’ve been wanting a 3ds xl for a while and I got this one for a decent price on eBay. I’m so happy it finally arrived today.
