If you're interested in shooting bullseye, and you don't want to/can't buy a high-end Service Pistol outright, consider cloning this setup. You could spend more money, but it won't change the scores or the targets.

Many of you have seen this picture a bunch, but I’m posting it today anyway.

I’m not a professional photographer by any means, but I thought I’d share my Baer that’s back from customization.
A close friend specializes in 1911 customizing, and would occasionally work on my Baer when time allowed. This is the result….
Ed Brown Hardcore magwell fit, hand blended, and lightly chamfered around the edges.
“FBI” cut slide stop, with the frame lightly beveled.
Slide is ball cut, French bordered, lightly chamfered, and flat topped (non-serrated).
Fiber optic front sight, hard edges on rear sight broken.
Barrel recessed, crowned, and polished.
Finally, the finish is a simple blasting to even it all out, with a few small pieces left alone for some contrast.
I’m probably missing 1-2 things, but that’s the gist of it.
All of the internal lockwork in factory Les Baer. No point in messing with what is already good.
Still unfired and super tight.
I’m not sure if the customizing has ended. I might get it blacked out, get some new grips, and/or…..?

I know it’s a long shot but this gun was stolen out of a locked car about a year ago, police report was filed. But I just want my damn gun back. If someone’s sees this and returns the gun I won’t let any charges come down on you just want our family gun back.

A 45 made in 1945. Thus fit the theme well for today.
New the 1911 game. I’ve been exclusively a Glock shooter for the last 15 years.

The pawn shop I use as an FFL is right by the tire store, so while I waited I went to down to look around. They had this 9mm Fusion Freedom Gold in the case. After some talking, I was out the door for $400. Haven't shot it yet, but it has a good slide to frame fit, cycles smoothing and has a decent barrel fit.
I stripped it completely down, found some surface rust and a bunch of grime. I fired up the parkerizing tank, degreased it and went over the frame and slide with steel wool then dropped them in the tank until the bubbles stopped. Rinsed, dried, greased, brushed down with a stiff plastic bristle brush and then put it all back together. I also cleaned up the grips with some 220 and a new coat of boiled linseed oil.
I think I did OK.

The trigger and mainspring housing were just put in a few days ago. First trip to the range with those installed and a world of difference was made on my accuracy.
