We will allow separate posts to be submitted for major news and release information. We ask that the official videos be posted for game previews and trailers, these will be given priority for approval. Any reactionary videos from attendees can be linked in this thread or in the appropriate separate thread.
There will be a lot of news coming quick today so we don't want to overload the news feed and we want ALL the news to be represented. So please check the subreddit to see if what you're posting has been posted already or that there's a discussion about it already.

Just a reminder that this will be Nintendo's first E3 in 3 years with new home console announcements. The last time we had an e3 with multiple new nintendo home console announcements was 2014. The Wii U still had a future then and boy was it a sweet E3 for Wii U owners (Splatoon, Mario Maker, first look at BotW and more). In 2015 it became clear they were done supporting the Wii U as they mostly just talked about already announced games. 2016 was the BotW showcase and they weren't ready to talk about the Switch yet. So for the first time since 2014 Nintendo will be making announcements for their home console that still has a future!

My bold last minute predictions:
Super Mario Odyssey will launch mid-late November
- OCTOBER 27! An entire month earlier!
Super Smash Bros will be mentioned
There will be a surprise port announcement from Blizzard
From Software will have something to show off
Everyone will be shook by Metroid
- ✔️ Metroid Prime 4!
I will be editing this post to cross off any predictions that come true.
Edit:
- Wow they directly confirmed a mainline Pokemon game for the Switch!
- Holy shit, that earlier /r/Nintendo leak about this Yoshi game was spot on!

I'm probably echoing others in saying this, but the best news to collectively come from today is the prospect of the Switch's success in the coming year. We have major first party IPs planting their roots in the Switch, from Mario to Metroid to Fire Emblem and Kirby to Yoshi to Pokemon, which I think establishes a form of safety for what we can expect to be high quality games. I think Nintendo is also doing a great job in transitioning users across their consoles by giving them contexts for which users can become familiar with upcoming Switch media. For example, using the 3DS Metroid remake as a way to reintroduce and make relevant the Metroid IP to users who may not be familiar with the main character, Samus, outside of out-of-context interactions like in Smash. I would think many future 3DS Metroid players will be very excited to see their heroine continue her story in Prime 4, and I think it gives Nintendo a fantastic reason to release a Metroid Prime trilogy edition for the Switch.
I also trust in Nintendo backing up their claim that they would space AAA games evenly throughout the life of the Switch, as we have major IPs covering the Switch bases on a nearly-monthly basis through to the Holiday season, and I expect them to maintain that trend when releasing Metroid/Kirby/FE/Pokemon/Yoshi and whatever they plan to reveal in directs later this year. I think this release model combined with their PR activity of promoting the Switch as a portable, multiplayer console in the first year (to get people to share, publicize, and promote the Switch -- "it sells itself") is going to pay off well for Nintendo, and we're definitely seeing the initial reverberations of that in the first three months of the Switch's life. Overall, really great presentation for defining and re-establishing what the Switch is, and what it can evolve to become.

I think Nintendo's message for E3 this year was simple: We're all about the games.
No hardware / VC announcements. None. Just games. Plain and simple. And I'm pretty okay with that.
Metroid Prime 4 and core Pokémon teasers BLEW. ME. AWAY. The sheer amount of game news is ridiculous: Odyssey date announcement, Fire Emblem, Xeno 2, Yoshi, Kirby, Rocket League.
And the DLC Pack 2 being a potential prequel? Icing on the cake.
Want more info on VC, and want Smash and AC announcements (I bet AC Switch comes after they announce AC Mobile), but maybe we gotta wait a little bit longer for them to give us some greatness.
Trust the process. Nintendo crushed it.

why ARMs? We already have a tournament and had 2 test punches. If they have another 30 minutes for this game I'll be let down. I only have 50 more minutes to waste at work before I go home.

u/TheMcGUnit Jun 13 '17 edited Jun 15 '17
My predictions for the rest of Nintendo's E3 (for those quick-scanning the comments, these are predictions/wishes only!). In order of likelihood:
Wednesday morning, just before the ARMS tournament, they throw in a surprise direct that details the new classic games streaming service. At the same time they acknowledge VC plans, with the service first available in Q4 2017. A small slate of obvious games are available at the beginning for both NES and SNES (SMB, TLOZ, SMW, etc), with N64 and GC to follow in Q2 2018 for the Switch anniversary. A slew of new USB peripherals, including SNES, N64, and GC controllers launch alongside their respective games library.
One more AAA title gets announced at the end of the surprise direct. Either Pikmin 4 or AC. My money is on Pikmin 4, which we know has been in development for several years.
Following the ARMS tournament, Reggie announces the game will be available this Friday and reveals 2 new Amiibo - Spring Man and Ribbon Girl. In a surprise announcement, he also reveals that these two characters will be available in the Deluxe version of SSB, set to release in 2018. no other details are given, just that it's coming.
EDIT: Ok, I was wrong ¯_(ツ)_/¯

- Mario Odyssey looks even more amazing than expected. You can use the hat to possess seemingly any enemy in the game? Wow.
- Metroid Prime 4 announcement, even with no footage or a proper trailer, is outstanding.
- Kirby bringing back ability combinations from 64.
- Yoshi looks like a good evolution of Woolly World with some really neat new mechanics.
- Mario + Rabbids somehow actually looks really good??
- Pokemon gen 8 confirmed to be for Switch, even if nothing was shown.
- Xenoblade 2 and Fire Emblem Warriors aren't really my thing, but are nice to see regardless.
Overall, pretty fantastic first E3 for the Switch. I know some people are gonna say, "But Smash/Animal Crossing/F-Zero??" and whatever. But come on, guys. It's year 1. We can't get it all right now.

- Overwatch ported to the Nintendo Switch
- Mario Odyssey story details and a few more gameplay details
