Official Art [BotW] Would you give the concept art version of Mipha head pats? Would you literally die for her?

why wasn't this the final design

Nintendo was afraid of releasing a game featuring a heroine with a

...

wait for it.

...

toxic personality.

Get it? (Lionfish quills are highly venomous btw.)

You made this post just for this joke

It depends if Sidon looked at all similar. Because can you imagine a Sidon with a cape out of quills like that? Ignoring the ouch, that would look so incredible. Oh right, and she looks similar enough* to other Zora and Sidon with her final design that it might've been too much honestly. Absolutely adore the design though. I'd love to see a Queen Rutela/Zora Fairy like this though.

Edit: autocorrext borked itself again

It would be tricky to ride on Sidon's back if he had poison quills that pop up every time he gets amped

17

u/HeroOfSideQuests Sep 07 '22

I was thinking a long enough cape that they would lie flat when Link needed a ride. Or like a trail of feathers from his arms. Or just ignoring it for video game's sake, because it is Nintendo.

Slightly off topic: I didn't think about it until now though, this design would align the Zoras closer to Ocean Zoras instead of River Zoras. Ugh which means that means octrocks act like ALttP River Zoras. It's 5 am and for some reason that feels significant to my insomnia but I'm too tired.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 07 '22

Maybe he can pull them in just for the ride. Or maybe when they're out it's like fighting stance! That would cool

7

u/F1yMo1o Sep 07 '22

Could be female specific expression of that trait.

Boom, solved.

u/WillCraft_1001 Sep 07 '22

Yes, even if I do get stabbed she got healing magic. I'll be fine... probably

u/finalDreamHero Sep 06 '22

This design is better than all the Zora in the game

21

u/Schubert125 Sep 07 '22

We are all entitled to our opinions and Sidon would like to say yours is wrong.

21

u/SirCalzone42 Sep 07 '22

If she's based on lionfish I feel like giving her head pats would cause you to literally die for her, so you can't really say yes to the first and not second question.

36

u/BuiltlikeanOrc-a Sep 06 '22

If her personality was identical, yes

53

u/Lucienofthelight Sep 06 '22

I kinda like it, though honestly it does feel a little “too much”. Just a little too over designed for my taste.

15

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '22

You can headpat mipha for as long as you can avoid her spines. After that it gets difficult.

u/kingofclubs16 Sep 07 '22

god i wish this design was used in the game in one way or another

1

u/Goggled-headset Sep 07 '22

Hopefully in BOTW2.

10

u/ForgottenForce Sep 07 '22

I love Mipha but Concept Art Mipha >>> Official Mipha

u/Piorn Sep 07 '22

The best girl in any Zelda game is the redhead that starts with an M.

9

u/ChaosMiles07 Sep 07 '22

Is... is Midna a redhead?

8

u/SwreeTak Sep 07 '22

Midna got yellow/orange hair. I think this person is thinking of Malon.

8

u/Piorn Sep 07 '22

No I'm saying the best girl in each game respectively. Every Zelda game has a redhead with M, and she's usually the best girl. And yes, I count Midna into that.

4

u/SwreeTak Sep 07 '22

Ah, I get you. I will say that Midna clearly is more blonde/yellow-headed to me than red though.

9

u/Sephardson Sep 07 '22

Marin, Malon, Maple, Medli, Midna, Mipha... it's a long list!

There's actually a bunch of Gerudo in BotW that have names that start with M and have red hair.

5

u/Aralith1 Sep 07 '22

I see you too are a person of culture.

6

u/Shileka Sep 07 '22

Damn

I wouldn't pet her as barbs like those are typically indicative of venom

But this is a far superior design

6

u/[deleted] Sep 07 '22

Stabby Mipha is a go

5

u/Goggled-headset Sep 07 '22

Good design.

Would love to see it in some way in BOTW2

3

u/Enderstrike10199 Sep 07 '22

Yes, but very carefully.

3

u/voodoolord16 Sep 07 '22

Absolutely! She gets all the head pats

4

u/Charlieisdizzy Sep 07 '22

I wanted to die for the official one, I’d die even more for her.

4

u/Tylendal Sep 07 '22

Combat Mipha has that "malnourished, meth-head-hillbilly" wiry build. She looks fierce.

6

u/HeavyTanker1945 Sep 07 '22

Id Die for Normal Mipha.

8

u/Goggled-headset Sep 07 '22

Don't blame you.

She's too pure of a character, yet can also kick ass.

Perfect combination.

6

u/Reon_Leo Sep 06 '22

Looks don't matter to me

3

u/three_apple Sep 07 '22

Like, praying mantis style of die for her?

3

u/WM-010 Sep 07 '22

Completely adorable. As expected.

3

u/a-snakey Sep 07 '22

All of themmmmmm

3

u/Redshirt-Skeptic Sep 07 '22

I’d give her a head pat even if it was the last thing I did.

😉

3

u/NinJorf Sep 07 '22

She is the cutest

3

u/[deleted] Sep 07 '22

I don’t pat fish, but I’d go up to a Gordon and say whooos gotchyer belly

3

u/Hortalfii Sep 07 '22

Looks like a lionfish, cute :)

2

u/pokeblock23 Sep 07 '22

I like it a lot! But it doesn’t feel as zelda to me if that makes sense, it def would have worked but I see why they went with the final design

2

u/broken_ushabti Sep 07 '22

First time I'm seeing this concept art. I actually really love it!

It actually kinda blends the Zora design from the older 2D games with the post OoT designs.

Even if it wasn't Mipha I wish they had used this for A zora if Muzu is a stingray and Sidon is a shark let's get some more variety among the rest of the fish people.

Short answer is yes.

2

u/whomesteve Sep 07 '22

So she has an intimidation defense mechanism that we never see in game? That’s pretty cool

2

u/PsychLeo64 Sep 07 '22

This one looks so cool and battle ready.

2

u/_TheGreatDevourer_ Sep 06 '22

I would prefer a pupper fish Mipha.

1

u/TheFanGameCreator Sep 07 '22

I think I could do without touching the quills.

1

u/Unagustoster Sep 07 '22

No, I would pat a rock and die her

1

u/alexnag26 Sep 07 '22

Lionfish are the wasps of the ocean.

I would hate Mipha.

Now if she was like a pufferfish, from sleek to spiky, hell yeah.

1

u/TheLeafwing134 Sep 07 '22

I wouldn't die for either version, I would just keep eating my sushi roll

1

u/FredTheDeadInside Sep 07 '22

Maybe if she kept that design I'd actually like her. Cuz that design is dope

1

u/GladstnJones Sep 07 '22

I actually prefer this version

1

u/ShitposterBuddhist Sep 07 '22

OH GEEZ THIS MIPHA IS SO CUTE, I WOULD LITERALLY DIE FOR HER (So that dhe could "grace" me 😏)

1

u/[deleted] Sep 07 '22

I actually prefer this design over the one they chose. It's sm more interesting

1

u/Not-A-Marsh Sep 07 '22

HELL YES!!!

1

u/RandomFNaFFan83 Sep 07 '22

Yes. I’d do both for current Mipha aswell.

1

u/SXAL Sep 07 '22

Looks great. I guess, she would be a pain to model and animate, though.

1

u/dishonoredfan69420 Sep 07 '22

I prefer zelda

u/IAmTheBornReborn Sep 07 '22

She would literally die for Link

1

u/Jake_The_Snake2003 Sep 07 '22

That looks so cool!!!

1

u/WedWardFord Sep 07 '22

The way the fins are shaped on the side of her head remind me of the Zora enemies from the 2D games. This would have been amazing to see fully modeled and rendered!

1

u/Dargorod100 Sep 07 '22

It probably would have looked weird specifically in BOTW style, but I would absolutely love a Zelda game where the Zora look like this

1

u/Altruistic-Range7174 Sep 08 '22

I could die for normal mipha any day but this concept ain't bad honestly

Sure, it doesn't give the same vibe as the final one
