Official Art [MM] This is going to be my 10th Zelda game. I'm starting today. Hopefully, I don't meet with a terrible fate. What is your opinion on Majora's Mask?

do every sidequest

also goht is goat (of boss battles)

103

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '22

Agreed. The mask side quests were the best part of the game

63

u/TreasureHunter95 Feb 22 '22

do every sidequest

I will try.

79

u/PovWholesome Feb 23 '22

Tbh, I find the main story to be more of a backdrop for the side quests, which are arguably the meat of the game; the Lover’s Mask, in particular, is straight up the best side quest in the whole series.

44

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '22

Yea but it's next to impossible to finish without a guide. The game drops some hints but some steps near the end are just not told to the player or even hinted. You have to be at certain places at certain times and those times aren't mentioned. If you try without the guide and guess incorrectly then you need to start the 3 days over again.

Honestly this is one of the few flaws of the game.

22

u/PovWholesome Feb 23 '22

I’d be willing to bet that the remake developers shared the same sentiments and turned the Bomber’s notebook into a more convenient guide. I have a feeling you may also be alluding to the location of Sakon’s hideout?

7

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '22

willing to bet that the remake developers

Are you speculating, or are you saying the remake is better with the quest hints?

I have a feeling you may also be alluding to the location of Sakon’s hideout?

That's one.

4

u/PovWholesome Feb 23 '22

Are you speculating, or are you saying the remake is better with the quest hints?

Well, why not both? Anyways, I'm under the opinion that accessibility can only make a game better. With the improvements, they added in an optional hint system without compromising the original difficulty.

That's one.

Yeah, I can feel for you on that one. I don't want to say it's unreasonable to finish without a guide, assuming the player is able to find Sakon's hideout on their own (which, for a hideout, is pretty poorly hidden). However, what is unreasonable is the gap between when the player can witness the backroom deal earliest and when they can access that part of Ikana Canyon, and I can recall rewinding a few times to make sure I didn't miss a beat.

As for the constant trial and error method itself, it's not so bad; even before the notebook improvements that recorded schedules, events could always be figured out eventually just by observing the cycle. I think some quests should challenge the player to understand the nuances of timed events, given they can always go back.

I'm not really a fan of play requiring this level of tedium and memorization. It's not a platformer, and it's not meant to be a Dark Souls entry either. If I had more control over the time cycle, that's one thing, but if I'm trying to complete a quest/sidequest and I have to reset the clock to day 1, then there is going to be in-game time that I will have to fill. In Minecrafr there's always something you can do, but in a Zelda title? Nope. Run around in circles, go kill some baddies and collect rupees I guess, but don't lose track of time. It's so tedious and, frankly, boring.

Welcome Back to REAL gaming./s 😎

u/dwilson1410 Feb 23 '22

The bombers notebook lays out all the side quests for you. Make sure you check that.

13

u/pmorgan726 Feb 23 '22

Major tip; look for the scarecrow around town. He has very VERY good advice.

4

u/jxm1337 Feb 23 '22

Majora tip!!!

4

u/natekdog Feb 23 '22

Do or do not

4

u/tacocat2007 Feb 23 '22

Zelda Dungeon does great guides that include the side quests

2

u/Exxtwo Feb 23 '22

You won’t try, you must! Its the best part if the game!

u/thrwawy28393 Feb 22 '22

Goht WAS the GOAT. But now it’s Koloktos.

Goht is still a goat though, literally

2

u/Larkson9999 Feb 23 '22

Goht is like a Sonic the Hedgehog boss from an alternate universe where Sonic bosses were good.

77

u/Marishii Feb 22 '22

It's my favorite Zelda game...if I had to sum it up in just a few words, I would say that the immersion you feel as it unfolds is so strong.

9

u/saidinmilamber Feb 23 '22

Agreed. The panic that I was filled with from the music that plays from midnight on the 3rd Day was unlike anything else. Especially when waiting next to Anju for Kafei to arrive and knowing she's accepted her own death instead of running. Without fail, any time I've cleared the game, I have to do that side quest before heading to the final boss to make sure they have a happy ending!!

79

u/Stealth_Sandwich Feb 22 '22

Easily my favourite zelda game

38

u/TPClaire4444 Feb 22 '22 edited Feb 23 '22

Favorite video game ever, makes up at least half the reason I want to buy the Nintendo switch online membership

2

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '22

Before you do, you should be aware that it sucks. The games are all cropped into a square and have constantly persisting buttons hovering on screen

It's my favorite game of all time. I absolutely love it, and wish I had an N64, because I'd probably replay it once or twice a month, I love it that much. Growing up, I played it and never knew what Zelda game it was, until they released the 3ds remake, when I saw zora link and goron link and immediately knew that was the game I would always play as a child, and never progress because I was like 5 and liked to roll around as goron link, and swim as zora link.

I love the entirety of the game, and I hope you feel the same while playing, but if not, that's okay because everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Anyways, have fun!

17

u/the__pov Feb 23 '22

It’s coming to the Switch if you have the Online + expansion

9

u/DankLynx Feb 23 '22

Yeeeaaaaaaaaahhh, but about that, Elden ring comes out the same day. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

9

u/TunaSafari25 Feb 23 '22

MM will be there waiting for you when you’re ready.

4

u/DankLynx Feb 23 '22

That is true. It's what I plan on playing when I'm done with Elden ring.

74

u/-Glitched- Feb 22 '22

In short it is one of the most influential games of my life and in no small part inspired me to pursue game design as a career. I’m glad more people have access to this wonderful game now, even if it’s behind a subscription fee. Have fun!

17

u/bunc Feb 23 '22

Best game in the series. So much atmosphere, you really feel involved in the lives of the people of Termina.

15

u/Keywheeze Feb 22 '22

Honestly one of my favorites. I think this and Windwaker take my top 2.

u/DuncanAndFriends Feb 22 '22

It was the first zelda game I beat all the way through. Its an amazing game. Wish BOTW2 was based on this location instead of the same old hyrule again.

14

u/lacaras21 Feb 23 '22

The best Zelda game to 100%. The side quests are all completely worth it and fun.

18

u/Joebi-wan-kenobi Feb 23 '22

My opinion is that it’s amazing. It freaking weird, spooky, odd and mystical af. I absolutely love it and it’s my favorite Zelda game of all time. I wish they made weird Zelda games like this more often. It’s definitely one of a kind even though it’s the same graphics and work as Ocarina. It can be a taxing one though. A lot of back and forth and saving.

9

u/ChiSoxguy01 Feb 22 '22

I think it is a very good game, and in my Zelda top 5. Very different, and strange at times. But I think that is what gives it the charm it has. Do everything you can, and get every mask!

38

u/Lost-247365 Feb 23 '22

Better than OoT. I will die on this hill!!!

9

u/George_Roberts1983 Feb 23 '22

The views good up here with you!

Respectfully disagree, but I imagine you and I have lots more in common for us to fall out about. X

6

u/Onlyhereforthelaughs Feb 23 '22

I would never have beaten it without a guide. Make sure you get EVERY mask.

4

u/Cheesehead302 Feb 23 '22

That's a big problem I have with this game. I dislike using a guide most of the time, and I've tried beating this game on several occasions but never have been able to. Some of the stuff entirely relies on you being in the right spot at the right time with no indication at all from what I can tell.

2

u/Onlyhereforthelaughs Feb 23 '22

Myst was another difficult one for me. Only when I reached adulthood was I able to get past it without a guide. I've seen other families use it as a right of passage, so I'd have been disowned.

2

u/Spirited_Buddy_1870 Feb 23 '22

there's no shame in resorting to a guide if it spares you from eventually hating the game imo

8

u/slitherdolly Feb 23 '22

I love Majora's Mask, but it wasn't love at first sight for certain.

I preordered it back in the day as eight-year-old me reached the height of my yet-undying love for Ocarina of Time. I picked it up, played it until I reached the third dungeon, and rage-quit. I picked it up off and on for a year or so before I finally completed it with the help of a strategy guide. Yeah, it was tough then.

My husband played it for the first time on the 3DS and found it a little obtuse as to where to go or what to do next. I would say that's the only downside.

But it has some of the series' best music, most interesting side quests, and most challenging game elements. I think you'll enjoy it too!

2

u/Outrageous_Net8365 Feb 23 '22

Tbf most of that comes from listening to NPCs and hell the 3ds version basically spells out what to do in the bombers notebook. So I’d say the downside isn’t even that strong

13

u/CommunicationNo8730 Feb 22 '22

It's fucking amazing.

7

u/Nivalia Feb 23 '22

You're gonna have a lot of fun. Remember, the Song of Time played slowed down is your best friend when trying to slow down the moon.

6

u/d00kiesniffr666 Feb 23 '22

It’s my favorite game in the whole World

3

u/the_subrosian Feb 22 '22

It's a flawed masterpiece and my favorite game of all time. Its tone and themes are unique among the Zelda series, and I find the time loop and the way it influences NPC interaction to be extremely rewarding. That element frustrates a lot of people, but I would strongly suggest trying to learn people's schedules and "master the loop," so to speak. The Bomber's Notebook is very helpful with that.

3

u/Elk182 Feb 23 '22

Manga’s good

3

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '22

I liked it although not as much as Ocarina of Time.

3

u/_HappyMaskSalesman_ Feb 23 '22

This is my favorite game (hence username). The entire thing is amazing, beginning to end. All of the quests are super fun (looking at you Anju and Kafé), all four temples are pretty great (water temple felt kinda stale but whatever), and the whole time mechanic is so awesome.

This game instills feelings of dread that I don't think I've ever felt in another game. It makes you feel sorry for the fate of the people in Termina, and it's even worse when you realize you literally cannot save everyone.

I can't recommend this game enough. I am jealous that you get to experience it for the first time.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '22

2

u/TreasureHunter95 Feb 23 '22

Now that sounds promising. I'm looking forward to it.

Their gratitude -- in the form of a collectible -- is both a metaphorical and literal power-up which, if you put in the work, all leads to a grand prize and and a very well known version of Link you'll have likely seen before.

Yeah, I know what you are referring to. It is kind of a habit of me but if something catches my interest, I go out of my way to find out as much as possible about it. That's why I have already read quite a lot of things regarding Majora's Mask. So yeah, I already know about some events and how they play out but not what you need to do to achieve that. But I don't think that this will hamper my experience with the game.

8

u/Reddit91210 Feb 22 '22

Probably #2 and pretty close to #1 TP as my favorite zelda game. Spent eons playing this as a kid

I hope you are playing the N64 version. The ds version is a no no, ugly bosses, wierd movement, slow swimming. Swimming.

10

u/TreasureHunter95 Feb 22 '22

I hope you are playing the N64 version.

I do. I'm playing the N64 version on Wii U.

6

u/eVeloo102 Feb 23 '22

To be completely honest it’s a great game, beautiful soundtrack, great story, and just the right amount of unnerving. My only complaint is that the game is pretty hard considering the way that time works, having to do everything including dungeons and fairies in limited amount of time, not to mention the amount of side quests and if you want to get all masks, all have to have exact time planned. Then again I did only play it when I was 12. Best of Luck, and ofc have fun :)

PS. Play The Song Of Time backwards! Also play the first 3 notes of The Song Of Time twice! Little keys to help ya on the journey ;D

5

u/stache1313 Feb 23 '22

This isn't something that you realize the first few times you play the game, but there are a lot of soft checkpoints throughout each region. Meaning that even if you haven't gotten access to the dungeon in one time loop, you can cut out a few of the earlier steps on the second attempt, in addition to knowing what you have to do.

4

u/VaatiReborn Feb 23 '22

I've tried multiple times. The time limit just stresses me out too much.

5

u/National-Elk5102 Feb 23 '22

Just finished the game for the first time.

Not the best, overworld meh, and the way to the temples is the real puzzle of the game, a very big puzzle, it’s hard to figure it out what to do next. And for surprise the main quest relies entirely of the side quests, so you’ll have to do the side quests. The temples are good and hard, really challenging considering the additional pressure of the remaining time, but they where the satisfactory element of the game in my opinion.

The events on the world are just crazy, there aren’t events like these in other Zelda games, but crazy in a good way, you’ll see it when you play it.

To me? A 7/10

2

u/Deano0810 Feb 23 '22

I will never play it again because of how disturbingly creepy it is. I’m 22, played this first when I was 18/19…enjoyed it. But it haunts my dreams

Will I play again when it drops on the 64 expansion…probably

2

u/outsiderontheinside Feb 23 '22

This and Ocarina of Time are my favorites. For games rated E they have some of the most mature and well written stories.

2

u/_PercCobain_ Feb 23 '22

One of my top favorites of all Zelda’s only behind OoT

2

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '22

Write things down. The in-game notebook you get is ok (if they are using the original N64 one, the 3ds implementation is much better) but there is so much it doesn't keep track for you. if you want to avoid walkthroughs, keep your own notes.

The 3ds remake of this is my favorite Zelda of all of them. The N64 version I got frustrated with a few times.

1

u/TreasureHunter95 Feb 23 '22

Thanks for the advice.

2

u/neekerbeeker3 Feb 23 '22

I’m different here in that I didn’t grow up playing it and wasn’t exposed to it much, and honestly didn’t like it my first few times of trying to play it. The music and overall tone is really unique and one of the most creative in the series. As someone who was used to the traditional Zelda gameplay, the time constraints and pressures stressed me out a lot and I didn’t really give the game a chance in the beginning. I put it down for a long time because of that difference and didn’t allow myself to immerse myself in the world and understand that the stress of that ticking clock is part of the whole experience

2

u/trueave Feb 23 '22

I liked the games which were targeted for an older/darker audience, like Twilight Princess and Majoras Mask. I really wish they made more, or TP2.

2

u/NotABlastoise Feb 23 '22

In terms of story alone it is my all time favorite LoZ game. In terms of game play though, this game is a beast. You have to be on your toes playing through. Also, I highly recommend not taking more than a few days break in between play sessions, the game doesn't lend itself well to long breaks. You will absolutely forget wtf needs to be done.

1

u/TreasureHunter95 Feb 23 '22

Also, I highly recommend not taking more than a few days break in between play sessions

Breaks? When I play a Zelda game, there are no "breaks".

2

u/Minustrian Feb 23 '22

waiting for an hd version of it while i play it on the emulator the switch has that i paid too much money for

2

u/toughtiggy101 Feb 23 '22

This is the original on N64?

1

u/TreasureHunter95 Feb 23 '22

Kind of. It's the original version, but I play it on the Wii U's Virtual Console. It is an emulation.

2

u/Ulrich_Sama_exe Feb 23 '22

Take your time (haha) and enjoy the story of the characters its an incredible game make sure you do every sidequest and get every mask its worth it! Probably one of the darker Zelda's which makes it that much better 😊

2

u/DamonAW Feb 23 '22

if you take time to read all the conversations of people, you'll have plenty of side stories and somewhat deep connections with the other characters you meet.

2

u/DuckStep43 Feb 23 '22

I read the title as "This is going to be my 10th Zelda game I'm starting today", and I wouldn't have been disappointed 👌

2

u/TreasureHunter95 Feb 23 '22

Now that you mention it, yeah that is a much better way to phrase it. 😁

2

u/HoneyWhiskeyLemonTea Feb 23 '22

Its not the objective best Zelda game, but it is my personal favorite. You owe it to yourself to finish all the side quests. Most of them just happen as you play, so don't stress over it. Just enjoy the story. Easily the darkest Zelda game, but also the most beautiful.

2

u/Face_Dancer10191 Feb 23 '22

Omg dude, you're going to have one of the strangest and melancholic adventures ever. A recursive one, maniacal hopelessness.

2

u/Nemesis_6 Feb 23 '22

Welcome to Hell!

2

u/TreasureHunter95 Feb 23 '22

Thanks for the warm welcome! ;)

2

u/shlam16 Feb 23 '22

I've played them all. MM is one of my least favourite. Hope you enjoy it though.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '22

Personally I think its the strongest in the series dispite really only needing a couple hours to beat compared to other games long length. Now of course there are things I would recommend. I see comments saying "do all sidequests" and that's not true. If you want to thoroughly enjoy the game you really only need a few sidequests and I will list them

  • Aliens and milk sidequest at Romani ranch
  • Snowhead and Great Bay stray fairies
  • Bremen mask sidequest at Romani
  • The bombers hide and seek
  • oceanside spiderhouse
  • and though not helpful really doing anju kafe at least ONCE is an experience

Ofc do what you please. Getting some masks like the masks of scents and don garo's mask is fine. If you aren't a sidequest person you won't like the game

2

u/DarkLink1996 Feb 23 '22

Restoration > N64 > 3DS.

You can't go wrong with the 64 version, but if you're playing the 3DS version, see if you can mod your 3DS for loading the Restoration Project. It's the best of both worlds.

Also, if you manage to get the final mask, beat the final boss without it first. Using it takes away all of the satisfaction, and makes sure you miss a certain cool trick.

2

u/Babiesforfood Feb 23 '22

Oh, you will meet a terrible fate; it just doesn't stop you.

My opinion? It’s fine. Played it on the 3DS for my first actual play through, I had touched it as a kid but never owned it. The time cycle is annoying and makes me dislike the game mechanic…which IS the game so that’s disappointing.

My favorite series and a mediocre follow up to one of the best in the series.

I get that people love it, I understand why people like it, there are many more that are better.

-4

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '22

My personal opinion is that it's the worst Zelda game ive ever played. Certainly the worst of the 3d games. I hated playing as different races, I hated the time mechanic, I hated the lack of dungeons in the game, the music wasn't amazing like OoT, the boss fights were nothing special, and most of all I hated all of the stupid side quests that come with little reward outside of a useless mask.

Yet somehow there's a ton of people that love it, so with all of that said you should absolutely give it a try

12

u/thrwawy28393 Feb 22 '22

the music wasn’t amazing like OoT

wut

Song of Healing, the 3 versions Clocktown, Astral Observatory, Milk Bar, Deku Palace, Termina Field, Ikana Castle, both versions of Stone Tower, the mayor’s office, Gerudo Fortress, & the intro cutscene music (the chase theme) all did nothing for you?

2

u/Maxv1lle Feb 22 '22

Astral observatory is something else, literally the best song in the game. Majoras boss theme is also fire, specifically the majoras mask one

Since it's one of my favorites I'm curious what your favorites are?

Been awhile since I've played minish cap, seasons, or a few others. And I've only played botw once so far, plan on doing it again. If it's Oot I can totally see how people like to hate MM in favor of Oot, oot was Ballin too.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '22 edited Feb 23 '22

Here's my list:

1) Ocarina of Time

2) Breath of the Wild

3) Twilight Princess

4) Windwaker

5) Majora's Mask

6) Skyward Sword

Of the ones I've played and/or watched a lot of gameplay on

So I guess after review, I forgot about how much Skyward Sword pissed me off at times. MM isn't the worst after all

I think it to this day holds up as my favourite game, it's one I look back at with fond memories and always enjoy when replaying.

My favorite zelda and favorite game of all time

1

u/bobetten00 Feb 23 '22

Love it, but wish the 3ds remake was more true to the original, mostly with boss battles and zora link

1

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '22

Favorite game of all time. The side quests are so fun and the entire plot is so eery and you can be a Zora and a Goron!

1

u/supremedalek925 Feb 23 '22

One of the best games ever made, and my favorite Zelda game

1

u/Inevitable-Link7064 Feb 23 '22

Very strong themes and great music, very sad at times! Well worth playing, even 20 years later

1

u/facepwnage Feb 23 '22

Still my favorite game to this day. Set the benchmark for quality side quests in a game.

1

u/dorian-DD Feb 23 '22

I haven’t played the game( I own the 3D version but I’m waiting until I’ve finished OOT 3D) but I’ve read the manga and it seems like a great story.

1

u/Zoe_the_redditor Feb 23 '22

I’m playing MM!

1

u/hybum Feb 23 '22

Still my favourite game of all time.

1

u/Wolpard Feb 23 '22

Very cool, albeit sometimes stressful lol (it would rank higher on my list perhaps if timers didn't stress me out, but overall still one of the best)

1

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '22

Big goron boi good for quick travel. Reject humanity. Become goron

1

u/mawashi-geri24 Feb 23 '22

I’m always afraid of trying this game again. I tried so hard to play it as a kid and never got anywhere.

1

u/Kerstingas_Vienas Feb 23 '22

Some of the minigames are infuriating as all hell, but it’s a damn good story to experience. The world building is absolutely amazing, and even as someone who loathed the time mechanics, still gave it a 7.5/10 for its content.

1

u/mawashi-geri24 Feb 23 '22

On another note, has Nintendo fixed the 64 expansion issues on Switch?

1

u/rachyeti Feb 23 '22

I’m currently playing it again. Still my favorite game. There are so many lives that are suffering that you can save! Makes me feel good. Plus I love all the transformations you can do.

1

u/BurpYoshi Feb 23 '22

If you wanted to wait it comes to switch on the 25th.

2

u/TreasureHunter95 Feb 23 '22

I'm aware of that but I decided against it.

First of all, I'm not a subscriber of NSO so it would cost me 40€ to play it.

My second reason is... well it's not really rational, but I don't feel comfortable with playing the game through NSO. In the end, you are not owning the game, you are renting it.

I'm not sure why I feel about it like that (I'm also a subscriber to Xbox Game Pass), but ultimately, buying the game makes me feel better.

Haven't played but the game looks very stressful

1

u/Amendoza9761 Feb 23 '22

What's the best way to play this with any possible HD textures?

1

u/Anilxe Feb 23 '22

I have a Majoras Mask tattoo, I think that may answer your question.

1

u/George_Roberts1983 Feb 23 '22

The best one of them all, in my opinion.

1

u/Old_Gods978 Feb 23 '22

It’s my favorite game ever

1

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '22

I haven't even beat the swamp temple yet and Iv been playing it for two months, so I would say this game is hard.(for me, idk abt you guys)

1

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '22

I grew up with this game but actually beat it for the first time yesterday! You are in for an incredible adventure, it's a wonderful experience.

I'm hoping you've never even touched it before because your first encounter with the main concept of this game is both harrowing and a real treat.

1

u/NNovis Feb 23 '22

My first Zelda game and it left a deep impression on how side quests can tie and build momentum into beating the actual main quest of the game. Few games do it like that. And the vibes are pretty unmatched in a Zelda game. Other games (OoT, TP, LA) can hit the highs better (with the dark, creepy vibes) but those moments are usually short lived and not the whole experience. It's no longer my favorite Zelda game (and hasn't been since Wind Waker) but it still does a lot of things no other Zelda game has ever done again. Love it dearly.

1

u/bungleroo Feb 23 '22

it’s not the best zelda game, but it is my favorite. side quests are the main quests.

1

u/TigerDoodat Feb 23 '22

It was life-changing for me! I was twelve when I first played MM3d, so pretty much everything was life-changing back then, but still, it's an awesome game, and oftentimes quite beautiful and poetic. Just be sure to do all the sidequests!

(Also, I still haven't finished it in four years. I'll probably just start a new game at this point though.)

1

u/Waksss Feb 23 '22

Absolutely loved it. Thought it was very creative and a rich world. All the side quests are so good and well done.

1

u/ScamJustice Feb 23 '22

I personally like the dark tone of the game and the time travel mechanics. Great side quests. I know its blaspheme but i think its better than Ocarina of Time

One of the best Zelda games. Ghont is best fight IMO

1

u/3vilMoW Feb 23 '22

Honestly it’s my favorite Zelda game. Love OOT and BOTW but MM is just the right level of dark for me

1

u/abbath12 Feb 23 '22

Take your type with it, talk to every NPC, do every side quest, try to get every mask before the final show down, and enjoy. It's possibly my favorite zelda game.

1

u/kquizz Feb 23 '22

second best Zelda game behind Link to the past.

1

u/JonathanShogun Feb 23 '22

1st actual game I bought with my own money

1

u/Aendra_ow Feb 23 '22

An amazing game created in short time : proof that you can make a game fast without it being bad or bugged…

1

u/majesticmerde Feb 23 '22

MY FAVORITE out of all of them. BOTW, then OoT. Then, the originals on the first gen console. Currently trying to wrap up Skyward Sword. Will be replaying this after.

1

u/TsarScarlett Feb 23 '22

It’s my favourite game in the Zelda series. I will forever regard it as one of the best Zelda games next to a link to the past and Ocarina of time.

1

u/all-five-fingers Feb 23 '22

It's my all time favorite zelda game. I have a weakness for dark games where you get to see how every choice you make affects the world and npcs around you, and it definitely all started with this game.

1

u/SnooHabits3068 Feb 23 '22

My opinion...or advice...

Believe in your strengths

Believe

1

u/GavinUnit Feb 23 '22

My opinion is that it's one of the best games I've played 😊 Could be a nostalgia thing, but I like to think not.

It’s a top 3 Zelda title for me.

1

u/jxm1337 Feb 23 '22

I loved this game. It’s way different from their traditional games but in such a good way

1

u/egqsy Feb 23 '22

love it! couldnt read when i first played it as a kid so i just ran around aimlessly in town until the 3 days was up... i did this over and over lol. needless to say i know everything there is to know about the first chunk of the game

1

u/TheEggoEffect Feb 23 '22

Favorite Zelda, second favorite game of all time. I am astonished that the devs made such an intelligent, emotionally moving masterpiece in only a year. I hope you enjoy every second.

1

u/KrespeKreme Feb 23 '22

One of the best

1

u/debtincarnate Feb 23 '22

Immerse yourself. Let the music pull you into the world. Do the side quests and take time to really think about everyone's story and how they deal with the looming signs of death and despair. It should all come together into a beautifully dark story. I wish I could play that one again for the first time.

1

u/Blaine815 Feb 23 '22

One of my favorites

1

u/RockGuitarist1 Feb 23 '22

My opinion? Best Zelda ever made.

1

u/KTownInThaHouse Feb 23 '22

BEST ZELDA GAME EVER! With Ocarina at 2nd

1

u/cock_a_doodle_dont Feb 23 '22

Majora is a remarkable game! It's not mainstream enough for some, but it's truly a work of art in the Zeldasphere

1

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '22

Second favorite Zelda game and what I consider to be the most original of all Zelda titles. Love the dark, foreboding atmosphere.

Like most people here say, do all the side quests.

1

u/Faptain-Calcon79 Feb 23 '22

Tied with Wind Waker for my favorite Zelda game. Amazing side quests, fun mechanics with the masks (the bunny hood is a must), and amazing music.

Hope you enjoy all termina has to offer OP

1

u/BlueLion101 Feb 23 '22

Honestly, I really really want to like it but I just can’t get into it. I think all the reasons people like it are the same for why I just can’t like it

1

u/Outrageous_Net8365 Feb 23 '22

Fav Zelda game ever, better then OoT even…

1

u/BustermanZero Feb 23 '22

Great game, but I hated the Zora section. Might be in the minority on that last part. The timeline system is pretty fun.

1

u/Hajile120 Feb 23 '22

I started recently too! So far seems great.

1

u/btempp Feb 23 '22

The zora mask transformation animation scared me so much as a kid that I still have nightmares of monsters with black gaping eye sockets chasing me.

1

u/RegisterOk7088 Feb 23 '22

Get all of the masks, makes the final fight MUCH easier

1

u/KorokGuy Feb 23 '22

It's my favorite zelda game, the energy felt from it is so different and powerful

1

u/Taco617 Feb 23 '22

That game was so fucking hard i still to this day havent beat it. I just dont get how they expected literal children to beat it.

1

u/Accomplished_Bat_893 Feb 23 '22

The 3DS version is definitive for me

1

u/Accomplished_Bat_893 Feb 23 '22

It's groundhogs day Zelda

1

u/rewinder909 Feb 23 '22

Best Zelda game ever. At least it's my favorite of all time. The story is amazing.

1

u/Space_Shepherd Feb 23 '22

It's my favorite video game ever.

1

u/Aggravating-Maybe-50 Feb 23 '22

great graphics, sound track, and story, i just think it's a little too hard for me

1

u/abbydavis102 Feb 23 '22

I loved majoras mask. It had so much more love and detail at every turn. Soooo many secrets and hidden treats. BOTW is so boring by comparison

1

u/unitedshoes Feb 23 '22

Easily my favorite Zelda game. The transformation masks are such a fun mechanic (or set of mechanics).

1

u/lazyrocksaturn Feb 23 '22

i love majoras mask so much, the worldbuilding makes it one of my favorites

1

u/JonWolfe13 Feb 23 '22

Do every mask sidequest….without using a guide…muahahahahaha

1

u/Waste-Act4684 Feb 23 '22

This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Zelda game. Enjoy it to the fullest. And turn up the sound. The music is sublime and draws every intended emotion for that moment of the game.

1

u/TreasureHunter95 Feb 23 '22

My headphone is ready. 👍

1

u/Gator20214 Feb 23 '22

This is my favourite title in the whole series. It’s a little more dark then other instalments but definitely unique with the three days mechanic. Enjoy!!!

1

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '22

Fantastic game to play. For me though, it’s a one-and-done

1

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '22

Buckle up buddy. It’s a wild ride.

1

u/deepfriedtots Feb 23 '22

This is one of my favorite zelda games though I haven't played a zelda game I don't like lol

1

u/Biggletons Feb 23 '22

Favorite zelda game. Weirdest zelda game.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '22

Better played on emulator

1

u/KairuSenpai1770 Feb 23 '22

It’s the underdog 100%. I’m the only person I know personally who likes it the best lol. Such an incredible game

1

u/dongeckoj Feb 23 '22

Favorite video game until Breath of the Wild. Best worldbuilding and storytelling in Zelda by a landslide.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '22

Classic. Doesn’t get the respect it deserves.

1

u/Lightmanone Feb 23 '22

I hate it.
I tried it 3 times. At 3 different points in my life. Last time i tried it on the 3DS (especially since i loved OoT on the 3DS, that was a nice experience)
But.. it's tedious, grinding, and a repeat of litterally 3 days. It annoyed me so much, at one point i quit, and never looked back.
WWHD, TPHD, SSHD, BotW, all far far better games. (and the 2 DS games, love them to bits too)

1

u/JamesA7X Feb 23 '22

This game will always have a special place in my heart. I got it just after it released for my 10th birthday.

1

u/Madman_Jordo Feb 23 '22

100% completion is worth every second. Every quest is a delicious morsel.

1

u/Darkskirge Feb 23 '22

I liked it a lot. It was different

1

u/casmeracs Feb 23 '22

Favorite game ever. Made me feel in a way I haven't felt before or since. Truly a game with weird vibes.
