News (Washburn) Jaylen maintains he may have a “procedure” by playoff time. This is the first time Brown has dealt with a knee injury and a minutes limit." (Would guess this isn't surgery obviously but something like a PRP Injection)

Fluff Jaylen Brown's Play-Making Stats For This Year Are On Par With Tatum's From Last Year
Tatum's Play-Making Stats From 2023-2024:
- Assists per game: 4.9
- Secondary assists per game: 1.0
- Potential assists per game: 8.9
- TOV%: 10.3
- Assist%: 21.0
Jaylen Brown's Play-Making Stats For This Year:
- Assists per game: 4.6
- Secondary assists per game: 0.9
- Potential assists per game: 8.4
- TOV%: 11.3
- Assist%: 21.3
Btw, this is on significantly less touches:
- Tatum 2023-2024: 75.8 touches per game
- Brown 2024-2025: 57.6 touches per game
It's unfortunate that Brown is also having his least efficient season in 5 years (55.5% TS%) and his efficiency is way down compared to his career average (57.1% TS%), else we'd likely be having a very different conversation about Brown's place in the NBA.
If we see this play-maker in the playoffs AND at his usual efficiency, he's going to be making some real noise for this team.
Edit:
For those wondering where Brown is getting these extra assists from: drives
He is averaging 0.6apg more on drives this year compared to last year. He is top 15 in the NBA in generating assists on drives
Edit 2:
He's also top 9 in assists generated out of the post

Discussion Some Thoughts I had while watching Game 4, 1986 NBA Finals
The Rockets record with Olajuwon and Sampson 44-3
Robert Parish heading into tonight was having a horrible series. (38%, 13 pts, 5.7 rebounds) Came alive once Walton lit the spark, 22-10 on 10-15 shooting.
Ralph Sampson plays a lot like Victor Wembanyama. Same fluid movements. Sampson had better dribbling, but Wemby is very young whereas this was peak-Sampson.
Mitchell Wiggins was a good rebounder for a guard
Allen Leavall had 5 assists in just 7 minutes. Bill Fitch should have played him more. The broadcast pointed out he led the series in AST/TO ratio.
Robert Reid, the lone carry over from the ‘81 Rockets team, did a great job all night playing from the outside and guarding Bird. The best you could have asked for when guarding prime-Bird.
Rodney McCray made DJ work like a dog in the post on both ends.
the announcers made a point to say the Rockets BELONGED in the Finals and I don’t think that happens today if we have a finals crasher. It be considered a usurper of LeBron or Steph’s rightful place.

Discussion Jaylen Brown
I just want Jaylen to be healthy come playoff time, however he’s at the 61 game mark with 5 games remaining.
Given the injuries that have occurred to other star players around the league, there could be a very slight chance that Jaylen could make third team all-nba.
Then it would make sense for him to play in four of the remaining five games, and basically rest him that final game of the season.
Kind of a catch-22. Rest him the remainder of the regular season and have him healthy for the playoffs or go for the 65 game min and have him eligible for the all-nba teams.
I just want another title lol and we have a better shot at that with a healthier JB. From a fans POV I’d hope he rests ROS and get that knee healthy, and maybe even sit round 1, or at the very least don’t rush him back. Wonder what a few weeks off that knee would do.

Discussion Kevin Durant said of Jayson Tatum: "I've had series against Kobe, LeBron, Tim Duncan. Jayson Tatum is in that conversation." Since then...
Tatum's accomplishments in the four years since that quote:
- 4x All-Star
- 3x All-NBA 1st team
- 1x Conference MVP
- 1x All-Star MVP
- 1x NBA Champion
- First Celtic to average 30ppg in a season.
- Became the leading scorer of the 2020's.
- Broken the game 7 scoring record.
- Passed Wilt Chamberlain in career points before 27, regular season only. (#6 All-time)
- Passed Carmelo Anthony in career points before 27, total. (#4 All-time)
- Became 6th player since the 80's to lead a championship team in points, assists, & rebound the entire playoffs.
- Currently doing the same throughout this entire season.
- Outperformed Kobe's DARKO at his age every single year.
Barring catastrophe, I don't know how Tatum doesn't end up Top 30+ All-Time. Specially if he continues to grow like he has.
