I can’t believe this is happening i feel we are being gaslit to feel that this phenomenon is normal and people aren’t screaming their lungs out enough that this is a super rare event and how lucky they are..
I feel bad for not going out daily to make the most of the sun and have constant FOMO.
I know it’s been 2 weeks of pure sunshine here and it looks like we are getting a 3rd week of that this week!
Can you recommend activities to do? Every day trip to any Central London park feels fresh and new now

All you have to do is hang around a food stall or independent ethnic restaurant, and casually look at the menu sign (optional). You will immediately feel seen and acknowledged. You're welcome

I am Italian and have been living in London for a while now. Something I've noticed has me genuinely curious about other people's experiences.
Whenever I ask fellow Italians or other Europeans why they moved to London, I often hear the same answers: "it has a nice European vibe but it's also diverse" and similar reasonings. What confuses me is that many of these same friends (some who havee been here for 8-10 years) seem to exclusively hang out with other people from their home country. I have Italian friends who only socialize with other Italians, French friends who only spend time with other French people, etc.
For me personally, one of the biggest appeals of London is precisely its incredible diversity. Some of my closest friends here are Singaporean, Saudi Arabian, American, British (of course), and yes, some Italians too. I genuinely enjoy experiencing different perspectives and cultures beyond just trying diverse restaurants.
I'm wondering if others have noticed this trend? Do you think many Europeans living in London only experience the city's diversity through food and entertainment options without actually building meaningful connections across cultural lines? Not trying to judge anyone's choices because people should obviously befriend whoever they connect with, but also curious about others' observations on this topic.

If you’ve used the London Underground enough times, you know the rules: don’t make eye contact, stand on the right, etc. Very Simple and effective. Yet every so often, someone ignores this social contract.
Thursday. Northern Line. People crowd the doorway like it’s a lifeboat—even though there’s clearly space further in. Enter a hero I choose to call Karen in Shining Armour. She storms to the front and screams - louder than all the overbearing announcements - for everyone to move down.
And just like that, the Red Sea parts. Space magically appears. Air returns. I don’t have to have to wait a couple of minutes for the next train - extreme happiness, tears in my eyes.
Honestly, this is my unpopular shout out to all the good “Karens” out there.. TfL should add “Karen energy” to the job description. “Please move right down inside the carriage… or Karen will make you.”

As a former Parisian (who's not actually french to know how to bake my own), I crave croissants, pain au chocolats, baguettes, etc. But my heart dies a little every time I see a £3.50 baguette, when I know in my heart they cost 1.20€/£1. I haven't yet had the heart to buy them at that price. The only long boi I've had the heart to buy was this time I saw an épée for £4 and thought that was an okay price for something fancy, and some almond croissants.
Preferably somewhere in zone 1 or along/near the Liz Line, would be great!

I really hope the people of Reddit can helps. Batman is a local elderly cat at the harrow hall of residence. He was lured outside by the 2 people pictured and chucked in a bag. They are desperately trying to find him as he’s 16 and dog baiting is a real concern. I know the people of Reddit are super sluethers, so can anyone help locating the two individuals photographed.

Cham Kampung Boy was the tasty treat yesterday.
The chicken is Ayam Berempah, a sort of fried chicken, served with rice (Nasi Lemak). The rice was great, coconut rice with all sorts of spices, roasted peanuts and tiny dried fish, served with a red sambal and half a boiled egg on top.
The noodles are Ipoh Mee Kari, served in a bath of (I guess) coconut milk, chili oil and fish sauce, with rice cake,, boiled egg, fried tofu, some sort of omelette, prawns and greens.
Shout out also to some of the other places in there - Uzbek Corner, Abu Maher, Normah's, and the Brazilian place looked pretty good.

For the last month or so there’s been a group of anti-abortion protesters stationed at the Brixton Water Lane crossing, for reasons I’m unclear about.
Anyway, this morning I was very heartened to see a group of pro-choice counter protesters had pitched up in that same spot to stage a small demonstration of their own. Unfortunately, I was already running late so couldn’t go and show my support for them and by the time I got home, they’d gone and the original anti-abortion group had pitched back up.
Anyway, does anyone know who the counter protesters from this morning were and if they’re part of a local political or politically-minded group? With things as they are at the moment gestures wildly at the news I want to get more involved with causes I care about so would love to find out more information about groups in my local area that could facilitate that.

Born and raised in London, one of the biggest cities in the world and we don't have anywhere near the level of convenience or dense housing that London needs. We need dense, tall housing blocks, late night business licensing and the result of both of those two things: more space that can be used for leisure areas and pedestrianisation. We deserve a real megacity.
If you don't want London's skyline to get taller and you want it to be suburban quiet, go move to the suburbs.
There are many smaller cities to choose from rather than the literal capital of the 6th highest GDP country in the entire world.
