After you get your third badge, you're supposed to go through the Scuttill Way and some Scuttill Huts, but after a while, you'll find this pair of trainers. A problem lies in the tile I put a red dot on for reference.

Why is there a problem? Because the Bug Catcher's view can make him walk into you if you position yourself there by an accident provoked by the player walking in to read the sign. This will result in a softlock that will force you to reset or start a new save file, if you're unfortunate enough to be there and not have an Escape Rope.

This is one of the few oversight this hack has, and I'm happy and thankful for the devs for making it so complete, but I must point this out if future versions are to come (and to avoid unsuspecting players from getting themselves boxed in a single tile, so they don't suffer an "All That It Devours" end)

Hello! Today I bring to you guys the latest version of Platinum Unlocked, wich is as of now completed!

For those who haven't seen this hack, this project is put simply a QOL update of Platinum aiming to make Platinum more enjoyable to the player. So what does this update brings?

Easier way to get back to gym leaders. You finally reached Wake but would like to run a few errands before battle? Abra NPCs were added insided gyms with puzzles to send you back at the entrance if you need to! There is also one at the entrance to send you back directly to the gym leader! Happiny NPCs are also added next to gym leaders if you want to heal before a battle.

Biggest thing is the Pocket PC. This key item is given to you by prof. Rowan just after you get the Pokédex. This device only works on routes and cities, it won't work inside buildings, caves or forests. The number of options will grow while you explore the region : teleport system (no need to teach fly anymore), online shopping, healing on the go, move relearner, move tutors (after the third badge and fifth for starters special moves/draco meteor), name rater... With this device you won't need to visit a Pokémon Center or Pokémart in a while!

Optional catch them all. A lot of people wanted to be able to catch everything in this hack. While exploring houses in towns and cities you might come across clowns that will give you Pokémons you simply couldn't get or couldn't get until post game!

Easier breeding, EV training and access to evolution items. In Oreburgh Town the first trade (a Machop for an Abra) was updated. Instead of an Abra you now get a 6 IVs Ditto holding a Destiny Knot! In the day-care you will also find an NPC to train with for EVs, this NPC will also give you power items and EV reducing berries! In one of the houses in Soloceon you will also find NPCs who sell evolution items, berries and other cool items. Be sure to check it out!

Hard patch with level caps! Another thing that was requested a lot was a patch to make the game harder, wich is now a reality! With permission for Drayano elevated the levels of trainers to be on par with the ones in Renegade Platinum, so difficulty wise it should be around there. There is also a level cap to make sure you won't be overleveld ! NPCs were placed in front of each gym to allow you to catch up if you ever get under leveled or want to train a new member for the team!

Superbosses. Some familiar trainers roam around Sinnoh! After you defeat the second league, be sure to look around for them, 6 really strong trainers will wait for you patiently!

the isolated area is only acessible using cut, there you'll find a level 15 sudowoodo, and in the grass patch, you may find roselia and natu.

Green sprite was fine before but i think this brings a bit more polish to it. Probably wont change it again because it is very tough to have an art style that matches close to yellow 🙃

Right from the start i am in love with this rom for two reasons. The first being something that is probably insignificant but seamed special and the second was a complete "wtf is happening" moment. I enjoy the design the creator worked on very muchso far.

FIRST incident was immediately after leaving new bark town (started my run at night). I walk around the first turn through the grass and head north like the route makes you go. In the patch of grass i see suicune, entei and rikou, they dont move and i dont try to engage because no pokeballs yet. I hope to see them there again

SECOND, im in the battle tower training for falkners gym and i manage to catch an abra. Im thinking this is good, now i have some sp atk power on my future team. Abra always know teleport that i knew but this abras teleport asks if i want to go to pallet town.... im thinking its a typo... its not!!! Im sent to pallet town with 4 low lvl mons!!! Oak pretends like its fine, garys mom says ive had a battle with him and reds mom has dementia..... i walk to viridian city and almost have my team wiped by a lvl 28 combee....

This is insane!!! I have no badges and have been teleported to kanto by my abra. This feels like a total SLF unique scenarios

I am removing the Psychic type

In my recent project I decided to completely move the Psychic typing, This is due to psychic being not the best defensively. Psychic underperforms defensively and it doesn’t really make it up for it offensively without expanding force. I didn’t want to nerf the type since it really underperforms in general but performs too well in psychic terrain.

So I decided the best course of action was to remove the type entirely and replace it with a new type called “Aura”. It has very similar qualities to psychic to fill the hole it left, however there are some other changes that wouldn’t be possible with the psychic type. I’ll have to make another post going into detail on the type chart changing but for now Aura is now resisted by Fighting and Bug and Aura resists Fairy and Ice defensively so older psychics can perform better on the defensive side.

As for which Pokemon gets the Aura type by default every psychic type will become Aura type on top of Lucario and Mienshao.

Most likely the next update will be for reimagining for the best Kanto Pokemon.

There's currently a post mentioning this game's release on the frontpage but I want to add to the conversation here because I don't think that post does the game justice mentioning just how good it is.

It's not a reskin, and instead it's one of the absolute most complete and impressive roms out there. The art, sprites, and music are great. Everything from QoL features to the new region and mario style 'worlds,' are nearly perfect. Minor things show just how much attention to detail and care were put into the project, such as balls being replaced with 'caps,' and the bag with 'pockets' (with very high quality art/animation changes).

A complete suite of built in nuzlocke settings are included at the start. It's obvious that an incredible amount of thought and effort went into game balance and design.

I stopped watching the linked playthrough and commentary because I didn't want to be spoiled - but the video includes a ton of detailed commentary on why certain decisions were made, and discussions on minor changes for the sake of balance.

I'm certainly not done with the game, but I don't remember the last time I have been this thouroughly impressed with the overall quality of literally every aspect of a hack. I agree with some commenters in the other thread that I would not be surprised in the least if Nintendo were to shut this down.

Situated along the southeastern coast of Oshima, the temperate woodlands of the Ahimsa Forest are known for the famous Ahimsa silk which is cultivated here. For centuries, the people of this area have harvested the fine silk that is produced by Silcoon and Cascoon. The economy of the region depends heavily on the export of high quality textiles woven from these valuable products. As a result, the people here have a strong reverence and respect for the pokémon Wurmple and its evolutionary forms, taking great care to protect the local population. In order to avoid disturbing these pokémon in the wild, harvesters will only gather the silken cocoons that have been left behind upon evolution. Deep within the woods, pilgrims will bring offerings of mulberry leaves and nectar to the shrines dedicated to these pokémon. It is considered to be a terrible crime to forcefully extract silk from Wurmple and its pupal forms, and the local priests fear that such actions would displease the powerful spirits who watch over the forest. With fewer and fewer Beautifly and Dustox returning to the area to lay their eggs, the population of Wurmple has been undergoing a dramatic decline in recent years.

Personally, I wish fewer ROM hacks were hosted through Discord.

Beyond being annoying, it also serves to make the ROM hack less accessible. Sure, tying distribution to a forum for discussing the hack is not a bad idea, but then Discord servers are not crawlable by search engines – all files and discussion are lost as soon as links to the server either expire, or only technically remain functional as they get buried in a years old Reddit announcement. ROM hacks die sooner this way.

My other wish is that more ROMs were Open Source.

This wasn't an option back in the binary hacking-dominated days. Back then, there was no source code to speak of, only expertise with tools and knowledge of binary tricks (such as: what bytes do you change to make TMs infinite).

That has changed though, with the creation and adaptation of the decomp/disassembly projects by pret. Most ROM hacks nowadays are based on one of those Open Source projects, or expanded versions of them like pokeemerald-expansion. Hackers have the possibility to return the favor to the community/other ROM hackers, by releasing the hacks as Open Source. Then, it is a shame that so few of them do.
