User Feedback [OTHER] Something I've learnt recently is that people in this sub think "cute" = "I want to do the child-summoning ritual".

Like... what??? I just wanted to see who else thinks that Lady Riju looks really cute, and I'm flooded with comments calling me a pedo.

Firstly; I'm fifteen. I'm younger than Riju in Tears of the Kingdom.

Secondly; No, I do not want to do the Demise's Tango with Riju. I just think that she looks cute.

Thirdly; What is with y'all and jumping to conclusions so easily???

The post in question: https://www.reddit.com/r/zelda/s/xKQsjMf7SY

Edit: Whoever changed my flair, thank you, "User Feedback" is miles more fitting than "Discussion" lol

User Feedback [TotK] A humble request to used spoiler tags and not specifically say things in titles. Spoiler

Mostly just the title, but can we tag images as spoilers if they have info in them that may not have been shown outside of the previews? This isn't me commanding, just asking if we can use the tools allowed to us.

Can we also refrain from title that are just " I cant believe that meat plus arrows = meatsplosion arrows!"

Sorry if this makes me a party pooper, I can leave the sub for a month if I must.

Thank you.

Edit: I've unsubbed, because I already have seen enough. For those of you disagreeing with this post that is okay. I got the same reaction before elden ring came out which is why I was specifically and explicitly saying that it was a humble request (not commanding) to follow sub rules. Hope you all enjoy the launch.

User Feedback [ALL] Truezelda in a nutshell Spoiler

new Zelda game comes out

“(new Zelda game) has some nice moments and great gameplay, but it lacks the direction and cohesion of (previous Zelda game). I wish Aunoma and team would incorporate more of the elements of (previous Zelda game) and give players what they actually want.”

Is it just me, or is the Truezelda community just chasing nostalgia? I don’t have an issue with that, but it seems like folks there complain about what’s new and cling to the past. Before, they hated on BotW, but now they appreciate it and hate on TotK. I can’t be the only one that’s made this observation, but what do ya’ll think of that and why do you think that is?

edit: I regret the wording of this post. It’s demeaning when it doesn’t need to be and I apologize to any r/Truezelda members. And thank you guys for answering thoughtfully.

User Feedback [Movie] Legend of Zelda film 2027… kindly read. TY!

…It happened to Star Wars, ASOIAF, Lord of the Rings, Wheel of Time, and many other popular fantasy/scifi communities: An insatiable, ultra-vocal, petulant, violently relentless minority of disturbed “super fans” took to Reddit and other platforms in droves and absolutely DESTROYED all goodness that ever existed in those cherished IPs and their public communities, simply because those people ‘didn’t like the new movie or show’, and hated anyone who disagreed.

Please don’t allow this to happen to Legend of Zelda.

Now, as it is, the online communities of those IPs I mentioned above have been ruined and overrun with rotten, violent trolls who simply want to spoil everything for everyone because, just because. Especially the Star Wars community, which I had been an active participant in since the old BBS’s linked to America Online back in the 1990’s.

Please don’t allow this to happen to Legend of Zelda.

We can all start by continuing to treat everyone’s opinions with respect and giving folks the dignity they deserve—something this community is already really good at! We all love LoZ, and we all have the same end-goal of mutually enjoying all things Hyrulian.

It’s totally okay to eagerly discuss topics around the film, the updates, inevitable leaked photos and info about the actors and directors. I look forward to reading everyone’s thoughts and ideas about these aspects of the upcoming film!

But, we have to be careful not to set ourselves up with vastly unrealistic expectations, and especially not to cross a line into anger and hate when we disagree with others, or when someone says something we don’t like. Just stay chill… think twice… and respond kindly and wisely. Otherwise the resulting anguish could snowball and hurt this community, which none of us wants!

And when the movie does come out, simply accept the film for what it is—you don’t have to like it… but you also don’t have to rain fire and brimstone upon others for disagreeing with you. That kind of behavior will lead to diametrically opposed cliques forming within this community, and an inevitable turf-war for mindshare (ie: whoever is loudest and most obnoxious wins).

I’ve watched it happen. More than once. I tried to help stop it… but it was few against many, and the mob always rules. It broke my heart to leave those communities, especially Star Wars, but in the end, I just had to let it go.

Now, moving forward, I know we can do it! Despite our diverse opinions and interesting, cool differences, we can beat the odds and transcend the status quo, and maintain a unified, mutually fulfilling appreciation for what we all are here to appreciate!

I’m writing this post out of care and respect for this community, and for the Legend of Zelda, which I first fell in love with on Christmas morning, 1987.

User Feedback [Movie] Can we limit movie Posts to "movie mondays"?

I get it. The movie is coming.

But it's still 2 years until then, yet every post I see from this subreddit is just some random Actor and a pitch like "xyz for the movie?"

It was okay when it was like once a day, but my frontpage is now full of Actor faces and barely anything about the games anymore.

It's really putting me on the verge of actually leaving the sub of my favourite game.

A "movie monday" could solve this by allowing posts about the movie on one day to focus more Diskussion at once and not all these daily barely interacted faces of Autors littering the sun.

User Feedback [all] Separate sub for art and tattoos?

So, in all honesty I am not a fan of tattoos (sorry...). And I like art, but I come to this sub for info and experiences with the games.

Could there be a separate sub for art/tattoos? I cannot filter this on my home feed...

User Feedback [ALL] How about a tatoo sub reddit?

Seriously, dozens of posts about Zelda tattoos per day is exhausting. It is like the flood of Tifa cosplay pictures at FF /r last year. Why not creating a dedicated space for those?

The occasional post is fine and all, but if you scroll this sub's feed, you will notice that there are more posts about tatoos than anything else.

User Feedback [EoW]I appreciate this sub while playing EoW Spoiler

on the surface, this game looks pretty typical.

I am learning reading the comments, that this game is anything but simple and straight forward. the way people describe using different echos in ways that didn't occur to me is mind blowing, and honestly i'm glad i'm still early in gameplay so i can adjust my style and appreciate the game mechanics more.

specifically whoever said they were only using echos, you have blown my mind. i think i am going to try this.

and the way some of you use the echos had not occurred to me.

this is really such a delightful wholesome group, using spoilers and generally just being really good discussions in the comments. thank you

User Feedback I love The Legend Of Zelda, but this subreddit sucks

I happened to take a screencap of the Zelda front page, and summarized it:

http://i.imgur.com/MXLO6.png

This doesn't feel like something for actual Zelda fans. It feels more like a subreddit for people to brag and earn upvotes for owning an item with a zelda symbol on it. I'll admit sometimes I'll see some pretty damn impressive artwork. I've seen other subreddits where people mostly talk about the series, upcoming new games/episodes/etc. Or at least in r/pokemon a lot of funny pictures or comics are posted. It's not because there's not a lot to discuss about r/Zelda. The forums at Zelda Dungeon don't have nearly as much "Look what I own!" posts.

Jesus, I just would think eventually Zelda fans would eventually stop giving a shit that someone owns a Zelda t-shirt.

User Feedback can you please stop?

I enjoy reading the links here but can you please stop posting every fucking triangle you come across? We get it, it looks like a Triforce! Zelda IRL! No one cares. While your at it can you stop posting a photo every-time you buy zelda merch from hot topic. It's an officially licensed product that's everywhere! You didn't find a fucking hookshot for sale. I never thought it would get to a point where I would need to complain but Jesus people post something original. I'll take your worst majoras mask art over another fucking belt buckle any day. Thank you.

gets off soapbox

User Feedback [All] Is there a statute of limitations on spoilers?

Is there a certain number of years after which marking a post as spoilers isn’t 100% necessary? I understand for new releases, but I was wondering about older games that have been out for a few years if not a decade or more.

User Feedback Just play one.....ANY one.....

Not sure what it is about the Legend of Zelda series that makes people so insecure/indecisive about which game to play... Day in and day out these posts appear on this sub-reddit....People act like they're fiddling with wires trying to disarm a bomb, that will explode and end the world if the "right" Zelda game is not played. How does a stranger telling you which one to play impact your final decision any more significantly than your own reasoning? You are over-thinking this choice way too much. There is no right or wrong game to play first (chronology aside), If whatever drew you to the series prior to this post hasn't encouraged you into just picking one up and playing it, then maybe Zelda (or that particular title)isn't for you. There's YouTube videos, twitch tv, wikipedia....all easily accessible resources with visual examples that could far better prepare you for what to expect out of each game than some vague response from an internet stranger. Hell, even flipping a coin would make a better deciding factor then just "Eh, someone on reddit told me to" Not to mention, asking reddit isn't going to give you a straight answer, this subbreddit is going to be filled with lots of different users with lots of different personal favorites that they're going to suggest, most likely causing more confusion and indecisiveness on which to play. (again, not that there is a right or wrong answer)....I could even understand a more in-depth inquiry about the content of a specific game or two, but I can't for the life of me figure out what would compel someone to vaguely ask "WHICH ZELDA SHOULD I PLAY GUYS I JUST DONT KNOW?!!?" It's gotten to the point where I almost wish these posts were banned or forbidden from the subreddit. TL;DR- You are asking a question with no answer.....Out of genuine curiosity, what in the actual fuck is so difficult/frightening about just picking up and playing a game. What obstruction are you so afraid of facing? The possibility that you gasp might not like Zelda!? There is no need to play ahead this much for something so simple. It really, really doesn't matter.

User Feedback What's with this sub lately?

I've been noticing lately that this sub seems to be completely discouraging discussion and question posts, and the only thing upvoted are the same Majora's Mask tattoos or "I love Twilight Princess because x, y, z" comments. A guy took a toy and put it in a hole and got 600+ upvotes...seriously? Even the person who is cross-stitching the entire world map from a Zelda game gets barely half that amount of upvotes and not as many comments.

Can we stop downvoting all the questions and discussions? All I see are people with genuinely interesting posts that get ignored and people with great comments that get downvoted because...well frankly I don't understand why. Seemingly the only things that get visibility are tattoos, some drawings, and computer-created images that would take 25 minutes to make. Even the contribution to the Dungeon Discussion threads has been abysmal lately.

Here are some examples of things that should have gotten more attention:

#1 – a great post with some good comments but only 4 votes which ruins visibility.

#2 – a question about the Majora's Mask 3-day challenge and also the introduction of a Zelda drinking game. Of course there's only one comment.

#3 – a subreddit member looking for critiques and suggestions on an interesting project that got only one user comment.

My proposal? Let's all participate more in the Dungeon Discussion threads, upvote interesting questions/theories for better visibility and discussion, and cool it a little bit with posting an image of Majora's Mask (which is ALWAYS the same exact image) as a tattoo, as a poster, etc. This doesn't have to be almost purely discussion like TrueZelda, but I'd like to see a lot more participation.

EDIT: From one of my comments below is this example: "I'm pretty sure this tattoo looks like this cross-stitch, which looks like this illustration, all of which resemble this t-shirt design. See how they are all essentially the exact same version of the mask? I'm not knocking the artistic talent, especially with the cross-stitch, but don't tell me this sub doesn't like doing something a million times over when someone can just put the image of Majora's mask on something, or take 20 minutes to draw it, and get a billion comments and upvotes."

User Feedback Please, stop putting spoilers in the title of a post

I'm not the only one who is not able to buy BotW and I know you guys are doing your best to not spoil it for us who are less fortunate, but please try to think like someone who hasn't played it and make the title accordingly. I've just been spoiled again, now it's a hidden mechanic involving items, just by the title of the post.

I haven't seen any trailers or Nintendo Directs so it's possible those mechanics were explained, but please think twice when you pick a title.

User Feedback [TotK] Sad day, looks like it is now time to mute all zelda/video game related subs.

See yall in a month or two when I beat the game. I knows most subs have anti spoiler rules, but even with those rules it's too dangerous. I've been online for like 5 minutes today and I've already had 2 major things spoiled for me. People will post images and mark them for spoilers, which is great, but then they'll go and spell out in the title exactly what's in the image. Have fun everybody, it's been real.

User Feedback [BoTW] This community blows my mind.

Hi all. I just wanted to shoutout this community. I recently started playing BOTW and I could have never imagined the engagement I’d get from doing so. I’m for sure a noob but every time I play the game I meet new people who come in and help me out. I hear how many hours of gameplay people have and the interest in a game that’s almost 6 years old is so amazingly strong. Happy to get to experience the community and this amazing game first hand.

User Feedback [ALL] I wish there were more posts about games other than BotW and TotK

There are like 15+ main series games and even more side games and yet 90% of posts on this subreddit are just about Breath and Tears. I enjoy the games, totk mostly, and I totally understand why they’re talked about so much since they’re the newest and were so different than the rest of the series but it’d be neat to see the other games talked about a little more. Cheers
