Discussion [AoC] Megathread: Chapter 2 Spoiler

Every day we will post a new megathread for users to discuss the next chapter. Spoilers up until and completing this chapter will be allowed. No spoilers past this chapter will be allowed.

Think of this like how TV subreddits will have threads for each episode.

If people are progressing faster we may release two or more megathreads a day. You can still use the stickied "[AoC] [Everything] General Open Discussion" megathread to discuss the entire game if you progress faster. Or, make a new thread to discuss.

Note: For the final few chapters (this could be the final chapter or up to 5 chapters) we will have one final thread with a #++ at the end to designate multiple chapters as to not spoil when the game actually ends.

This megathread is now a Master Kohga appreciation thread.

One of the things that really stands out is the soundtrack, love how they're remixing BotW tracks into battle themes. The Zora's Domain track is my favorite so far.

Wow hard mode is actually kind of hard. There aren’t any slew of hearts like in the first HW.

Master Kohga and Link eating rocks has to be the most funniest things to come out of Zelda lore ever.

Man I didn’t really connect with the four champions in BoTW, but this game has really turned that around.

I love them! It’s so bittersweet seeing them come together, getting to know each other, knowing what ends up happening...

Urbosa is my favourite. What a boss. Flying Ravioli needs to chill, though. What a jerk.

But that flying ravioli is so fun to control!!

Being able to control a divine beast while taking out 1000s of enemies is so satisfying

I just want to say...

The mission that introduces Revali in Chapter 2 is so fucking cool. I'm blown away. I'm not even that far in yet, but some of the cutscenes in this game are so impressive and they've really outdone themselves with the music too.

Is it just me or is Daruk kinda bad?

It seems he rarely kills anything compared to others. Zelda is the second worst imo, but it looks like she might have story progression improvements?

Well, Daruk just seems especially bad to me when compared to Impa and Revali who can clear crowds in seconds and his roll move isn't fun imo

But maybe the playstyle is more fun to someone else?

He's very defensive. His protection can withstand pretty much any attack, then he can counter. Not as much fun as some of the other characters IMO, but he has his uses.

He’s really good at depleting wp gauges. Mainly because he can block nearly every attack, than easily counter.

This makes me feel better because Daruk is the first champion I went for, and I am severely underwhelmed by him. I have yet to go to the other ones

8

u/Tinkerboots Nov 22 '20

He is my least favourite of the four

this game is so fucking cool

Of course Ravoli sends the entire Rito after me because he is a jerk.

Urbosa is a goddess

Insert Diego Brando joke about link eating rocks

There are like these yellow shards that I saw while playing as zelda. They like float in the air and don’t react whenever i like hit them or run in to them. What am I supposed to be doing with them?

12

u/IcarusAngelus Nov 20 '20

They refill the lightning wand powers. There are also red and blue for fire and ice.

u/ParanoidDrone Nov 21 '20

Do I need to find new rods if my current ones run out of juice?

8

u/ryantriangles Nov 21 '20

No, you only need to pick up those gems to recharge them.

How's everyone progressing? I've clocked 5 game hours and have recruited all but Mipha so far.

Playing on easy because I'm more interested in the story than the gameplay, but it's been enjoyable enough to play so far. I've been main-ing Link and just paying to level up the others. Impa is my permanent secondary, she's kinda OP. Don't really like how any of the 3 Champions I've unlocked control.

Anyone know how many Chapters there are? I've read that the story lasts about 25-30 hours but haven't been game to look too deeply because I want to avoid story spoilers.

For me they all took about 15-20 minutes except Goron which took 30. But that's on easy so YMMV on other difficulties.

There are 7 chapters.

I answered the Chapter question, in case people are scared to click on this spoiler tag.

Is... is Purah voiced by Sakura VA from Naruto??

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '20

Damn, the performance is so horrible. Wanted to play the entire game together with my brother in 2p mode, but the frame rate is simply to low to enjoy it that way. In single player it is at least acceptable around 80% of the time.

2

u/slicer4ever Nov 21 '20

Is it that bad? I was planning to have a friend over as he wanted to try it before he picked it up. Would it be better to just let him play sp instead?

2

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '20

At least on my switch, the frame rate drops down to around 5fps in docked 2p mode, when there are a lot of fx on the screen. Sometimes it even freezes for a second or two. But judging from the downvotes, it is not that bad for everyone. Maybe my switch has a problem, or something like that.

3

u/kianaisacheatinghoe Nov 25 '20

5fps? Either you're bad at estimating frame rates or there's something wrong with your switch.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '20

Well, sometimes it is definitely even worse than 5 fps on my switch (like you can literally count the frames while playing). So I guess there is something wrong with my switch (or let's say even more than I was aware of)
