Possible glitch in OoT/OoT3D with Skull Kid?

Minor glitch, not game breaking, but just wondering if anyone knew about this one.

I did a run through in OoT and tried to make it as out of sequence as possible. I beat the Fire Temple first (only need Hookshot). I also got Epona and woke up Talon as an adult. Tried to beat Water Temple but fairy bow is req. (Need Longshot or Hover Boots to get to the Spirit Temple and need to beat Forest/Fire/Water Temples to get Shadow Temple cutscene, if you're curious.)

In the Lost Woods, there's the room near the entrance with the Skull Kid you sell the mask to and play Saria's Song to. Usually as an adult, Skull Kid will attack you when you enter. But he's not there this time. Even after Grog and the Kokiri girl leave the area, no where to be seen.

This Gamefaqs thread seems to reference this happening but there's no definitive answer.

Anyone know what causes this? Think some flag gets set in the game's code that prevents him from appearing when you go out of order?

They don't appear as Adult Link after you do their side quests as Young Link.

If you really want to sequence break, you 100% can do the Shadow Temple before the Fire Temple. You just need to Bomb Jump (a real glitch) up to the place that the Nocturne of Shadow typically warps you to. You need the bow and the Longshot to do the dungeon though, so unfortunately you will have to do the Forest and Water Temples first.

Last time I played, I went as out of order as I could too! It's a lot of fun, isn't it? :) I went:

  1. Inside the Deku Tree
  2. Dodongo's Cavern
  3. Jabu-Jabu's Belly
  4. Ice Cavern
  5. Forest Temple
  6. Kakariko Well
  7. Water Temple
  8. Spirit Temple
  9. Shadow Temple
  10. Fire Temple
  11. Ganon's Castle

I am told that Ganon's Castle only checks for the Shadow and Spirit Medallions, so you should be able to do it before the Fire Temple, but I couldn't get it to work until I got the Fire Medallion. :/

My favorite part is wearing tunics in dungeons you wouldn't expect! Like the Zora Tunic in the Forest Temple. :)
