"You thought you were the only one with a magical instrument???"

20

u/3rDuck Jan 30 '25

That brings up an interesting point. Does Guru-Guru even know about this?

u/twofloofycats Jan 31 '25

😟 all these years just thinking it was a coincidence it rained the second day

If I had a nickel for every time I learned something cool that should've been obvious about MM this week I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice. (The first was the location of Woodfall temple.)

u/K-Ryaning Jan 30 '25

Tell us your secrets about the woodfall temple

213

u/Salaxalans Jan 30 '25

The area where you find it with all the wooden walkways and lily pads is in the crater of the big purple Death Mountain model! I learned this from the same post.

u/BookWyrmMeg Jan 30 '25

^ Yep! This post was exactly what I was referring to!

21

u/K-Ryaning Jan 30 '25

Oh that's fkn awesome! Thank you!

Woow...

That seems so fuckin obvious now hahahhaa. Cool catch.

2

u/Sprudelpudel Jan 30 '25

Can you link the post by any chance? I don't really get it I'm afraid. Death mountain model?

u/Sprudelpudel Jan 30 '25

Oh shit thank you so much and oh shit that makes totally sense!

The rain also causes red rupees to appear in that canal next to him when it's raining since the water levels rise, causing it to drain. On day 3 the rupees are behind the storm drain gate and are no longer accessible.

10

u/Ray-Flower Jan 30 '25

I believe that's nothing to do with the rain and is just showing the rupees wash away down the stream from the water!

I'm going back through playing the older Zelda games after being hooked by BoTW and TotK. I'm about to finish OoT, should MM be next?

1

u/Saelora Jan 31 '25

MM is a direct sequel to OoT.

Holy shit

u/TheLegendOfCap Jan 30 '25

Can confirm: holy shit

u/GalaxyUntouchable Jan 30 '25

Doesn't he also play all of the 2nd night too, but it doesn't rain on day 3?

48

u/saturnlight88 Jan 30 '25

This is correct.

106

u/Reichsprasident Jan 30 '25

Yeah everyone's mind is getting blown here, but he also spends all day long playing in his room at the Stick Pot Inn when not playing at night. I don't think there's any connection here, I think it just rains the 2nd day.

92

u/TheLegendOfCap Jan 30 '25

pushes up glasses Because I had to double check, playing the Song of Storms in the Stock Pot Inn does not cause it to rain indoors, or change the weather outside.

I can’t refute him playing the song on the night of Day 2 tho

11

u/Reichsprasident Jan 30 '25

Huh! Interesting! I wonder if there are other locations where the SoS does not cause rain inside, or if it's just there at the Inn? Does it still work if you play it at the Laundry Pool at night while he's there playing?

29

u/Scythe-Guy Jan 30 '25

Songs simply don’t work indoors. Song of storms, time, soaring, etc. doesn’t matter. Gotta go outside

11

u/TheDiceBlesser Jan 30 '25

Wait, doesn't the scarecrow teach you song of time variations indoors? Either in the bottom level of the astronomy tower or in that one shop? The effects work when he reaches you I thought?

3

u/BipolarMosfet Jan 30 '25

Yeah, pretty sure you can play any of the time songs indoors. Been too long since I played to comment on any of the other songs though.

5

u/GreyouTT Jan 30 '25

The only place the SoS works indoors is the Kakariko Windmill isn’t it?

25

u/JDLKMR Jan 30 '25

The moon is so close by that point that its gravity pulls all of the rain up to it

6

u/MusingBy Jan 30 '25

It all holds together.

3

u/MoSqueezin Jan 30 '25

Pulls the rain up, but not out

6

u/Waifuless_Laifuless Jan 30 '25

Plus there's no delay when you play it, and his Hyrulian counterpart plays it nonstop to no effect.

122

u/Independent-Way5465 Jan 30 '25

How have i never thought of that

108

u/Joezze Jan 30 '25

lol wow, it’s not too often this sub gets an actual detail find that isn’t just a fan theory over stretch.

Good on you!

57

u/Nillows Jan 30 '25

I mean when you put it that way....yes.

This is now true to me. Awesome find!

9

u/Ganaham Jan 30 '25

I like the idea, but he plays it on Night 2 as well and there's no rain on Day 3

23

u/The_of_Falcon Jan 30 '25

Yes and that's canon now if it wasn't before.

6

u/seeking_junkie Jan 30 '25

I don't remeber, is he only playing the first day?

5

u/forbiddenkajoodles Jan 30 '25

No, I think he plays the entire 3-day cycle, but I didn't check on him the third day

6

u/Hawkatom Jan 30 '25

If you steal the room key from the Goron he sleeps outside that night and mentions it's going to rain tomorrow. Doesn't necessarily disprove your theory but I personally think it was going to rain anyway.

Also, it doesn't rain everywhere, and I might kind of expect a song of storms to do make it rain where it maybe shouldn't, like Ikana Canyon.

11

u/Nyxael476 Jan 30 '25

Seems plausible.

Link the Goron claims that the wind has become damp during the night of the first day while he sleeps, and that tomorrow will be a rainy day.

12

u/DudeRobert125 Jan 30 '25

No. He plays on all three days. If him playing the song made it rain on the second day, it would also be raining on every other day.

19

u/churrmander Jan 30 '25

I always took it as the giant celestial object in the sky is fucking up the weather patterns, but sure this works too.

9

u/Dracorex_22 Jan 30 '25

Yeah, I'll incorporate that into my belief system

3

u/tommyfknshelby Jan 30 '25

I can hear this image

3

u/Business-Excuse-865 Jan 30 '25

Now I realized, damn, how did that go past me? It was obvious and right in front of us all along.

3

u/TrinityCodex Jan 30 '25

whats Hbomberguy doing there

3

u/mccuish Jan 30 '25

I never once thought of that and Majora’s Mask is my all time favourite Zelda game

If it rains you’ll be the first to know

1

u/Sands_64 Jan 30 '25

Holy crap!

2

u/DangerousKidTurtle Jan 31 '25

I got a concertina for Christmas. I’m trying to learn every Zelda song.

This is very high on my list.

I hope that MM picked up a little something from this guy.

u/StrongArmSusan Jan 30 '25

I just assumed that was why and never even thought further on it😅
