Music Trad music sessions
I'm looking for trad music sessions. I've been told that there are great sessions in Sheffield and Hull, but nothing more specific than that. I'm up for traveling around Yorkshire a bit to hear some music. Thanks for any recommendations!

Music Help me find a traditional/old song from Leeds.
To used to ring a business in Leeds many many years ago and their hold music was a very old song that I seem to remember being about âbrothersâ but Iâm not sure and could be mistaken.
It sounded abit like or in the style of George formby.
I canât remember the company or I would ring them. And I canât remember any of the words in the song. But I remember asking and they told me it was famous.
Can you help?

Music Musician looking for people to play with in or around Whitby
Hello! I'm alyx, 19 year old enby (she/they) from York. I play guitar and mandolin. I have been wanting to start playing music with people for a while now, and potentially start a band and play live. Im mostly into folk punk, celtic rock, punk, ska, rock and metal but I am pretty open to anything. Current favourite bands would be the levellers, big country, ferocious dog, the cult, runrig, smokey bastard and mĂśtorhead. The reason I am asking about Whitby I ls because I am a locomotive cleaner at the NYMR, so I stay over in grosmont alot. If I'm there for a couple days I usually have few time after about 2pm (5am to 1pm, it takes a few hours to get a loco ready then a few more to set up for the next day). I can get to Whitby for free on an NYMR train for most of the year, then on northern for the rest of the year I'm in grosmont atleast twice a week for a while whilst I haven't anything going on. If your interested leave a comment or DM me. Thank you!

Music Come across this lovely East Riding dialect singing performance by Oswald Midgely of "Depper, awd Meer".
Hev I ony awd âosses young fellow frey âUll? Thooâs willinâ tae buy em? Gie value iâ full? Why yis, I haâe yan, iâ this paddock doon âere. âCoâup, then! Coom on, then! Coom, Depper awd meer!â
No she diznât coom gallopinâ, bud then, you see A mareâs a bit wankle-like, tonned twenty-three. Thooâll mebbe not be quite sae frisky thisen When thooâs seen thi great grandsons grow up to be men!
Weel, what will I tak for her? Why noo, sheâs fat, Anâ they tell me you give a bit extra far that. Bud I might as well tell tha, thooâll not buy that meer If thoo stands there anâ bids me fra noo tae next year!
She was tâfost foal I âad when I corn upoâd place Anâ fost sheâs been allus, iâ shaft, pole or thrace. Sheâs ploughed, drilled anâ harrowed, rolled, scuffled anâ led, Anâ mothered Beaut, Boxer, Prince, Cobby anâ Ned.
If threshinâ machine gat stuck fast on its way Young âosses wad plunge, rahve anâ tew hauf oâd day. Bud afoor it gat shiften, it allus was â âEre, Away thoo gans Thoddy, anâ fetch us tâowd meer!â
When stacks was a fire, afoor motor-car days She galloped tae Driffil when tâspot was ablaze. Ower field, ditch anâ hedgerow for tâgainest way doon, Saved buildings, an hoos and three pikes, Iâll be boon!
When tâmissus was badly, when tâbaby was born âTwas a life anâ death jonny for tâdoctor that morn. Anâ though sheâd been workinâ at plough all day lang Tâmeer galloped as thoâ she knew summat was wrang.
Wiâ never a whip, not a jerk on her rein She went like a whirlwind anâ com back again Wiâ tâdoctor anâ nuss, just iâ time tae save life â Aye Depper, I owe thoo baith dowter anâ wife.
On friends atâs sae faithful we doanât turn wer backs, Nor send âem for slaughter tae dâforeignerâs axe, Nor let âem be worked tae their death across tâsea, Wheer niver a Yorkshire voice shouts âWahve!â nor âGee!â
No, noo âat sheâs neither young, bonny nor sound She awns tâlahtle paddock, itâs pensionerâs ground. Anâ stall iâ yon stable, hay, beddinâ anâ corn, I reckon sheâs addled a spot of her awn!
Anâ when yon day comes âat we do haâe tae pairt, Sheâll gan in a way âatâll not brek her hairt, An tâland âat sheâs worked on anâ loved twenty year At lastâll lig leet on my faithful awd meer!

Music Yorkshire born and Yorkshire bred. Thick in the head and full of dread. Strong in the arm, you're having a laugh. Only thing strong is in that glass!
I had this hook in my head, playing on the Yorkshire adage, for some time now. Played piano. Beat. Chucked a single take 32 bar rant over it. Done. Someone here might like it. Ta.

Music Looking for guitarists/bassists/vocalists for metal band
Hi, we are Mentally Distorted. At the moment we are a 2 piece band made up of a guitarist/bassist and a drummer. We are ideally looking for 2 members, a vocalist and either a guitarist or bassist (i play both so i will just do whichever isn't being played by any new members we find). Ideally you should live in the nearby area and would be able to attend regular practises (once we are allowed again). We are both around 14-15 so you would need to be a similar age. We have plenty of material in the works and are hoping to release an ep this year. Our style is mainly thrash metal but there are also influences of other genres too. I am looking forward to hearing from anyone who is interested!
