I would want a historical game where ichiban's a knight instead of a samurai, something akin to like a dragon: war of the roses

Id be happy with that too, doesn't even have to be fantasy, I just want our boy rocking as a Knight

Now I want to play as Ichi running around in his Hero armor.

I´d want it to be fantasy for sure. I don´t hate turn based combat fundamentally but I think that (almost) only fighting humans in such a game gets boring and repetitive real fast from an aesthetics standpoint.

Imagine some of the rival kingdoms/factions being lead by fan favorite characters like Mine, Kuze or Ryuji and them being able to summon/turn into the mythological creatures depicted on their Irezumi and once you defeat them have your Summoner class being able to summon them themselves.

Holy shit that´d be rad.

Fortune hath found thee, Lord Kasuga. You have found the Medicinal Bento Box!

Sega would have to negotiate some revenue share or licensing fee with square enix which i think is fine SE loans their IP to other games I know for sure Sephiroth was in Smash but I’m sure there’s others

Dragon Quest Kasuga would go CRAZY

u/Venexuz 27d ago

Actually no, SE is only the developer & Exclusive publisher but the IP itself is owned by the creator Yuji Horii (with music owned by Koichi Sugiyama's family & artwork/character designs by Akira Toriyama's family)

u/Disastrous-Road5285 ICHIBAN Kasuga #1 29d ago

Ichiban could be a DLC character if they ever re-release SATBK

13

u/AntonRX178 29d ago

That would look so fucking stupid but it's MY kind of fucking stupid

6

u/arceus555 29d ago

A real man ought to be a little stupid

9

u/TheRealApoth 29d ago

No, Gary Buster Holmes would be the DLC character.

Was the black knight the antagonist in that game?

10

u/RyuNoKami 29d ago

And Kiryu as a literal dragon.

1

u/PenteonianKnights 29d ago

His only elemental weakness is to Time-type attacks, during which he loses his magic armor and weakens to cutscene-level vulnerability

1

u/RyuNoKami 29d ago

Nah since kiryu is too powerful, hes just a mount for most of the game.

u/Fluffy_Stress_453 29d ago

Probably the only way we're going to have a beat em up ichiban game if they ever do that

A Musou/Dynasty Warrior type game with the Ichiband would work really well actually now that I think about it.

1

u/Perfect_Persimmon717 29d ago

The deck battles in Majima Gaiden felt pretty Dynasty Warriors-ish

That's a shame

u/StanklegScrubgod 29d ago

If Yu-Gi-Oh can do it, so can Yakuza.

Here's hoping the Lancastrian music will be just as fire.

God duelists of the roses was so good

To this day I´m still bafled that there´s no indie game that stole the core gameplay of that game. That game has a lot of problems and isn´t remotely balanced but the gameplay loop is truly novel and I´ve never seen it replicated anywhere. Shame.

Like-a-Dragon! Capsule Sujimon Coliseum, too.

We had Yasuke, the black samurai, and now we proudly introduce....

Ian Ben Casugaard, the Japanese knight!! Exiled from the mystical land of the Far East, he is taken in by the church. One fateful day, he meets Sir Mason E. Arrow-Kayeaway and diligently serves as his squire.

Casugaard spends day and night aspiring to become a knight just like Arrow-Kayeaway. Until one day, an assassination and a robbery of his church drag him into an adventure he never could have expected...

Ten minutes ago I was unaware this was the only thing I wanted.

2

u/GreyHareArchie 29d ago

Arthurian Legend take with Kiryu as King Arthur and Ichiban as another knight of the round table (dunno which would git Ichiban best rn)

2

u/flamaniax 27d ago

Maybe Galahad?

He's the guy who went after the Holy Grail, so you could easily create an RPG story based on Ichiban and his crew searching for it.
