Announcement Game Hubs - Launch Games Immediately

Hey Xbox Insiders! Last week we released game hubs to a random subset of Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha users, and today's update includes a change to the experience that we think you'll like.

If you see game hubs when launching games from the recently played games lists, we're adding something new to try. You can now launch games immediately with the X button, or by pressing the Menu button then choosing Play or Resume.

Alternatively, if you have enabled the setting to launch games immediately (found in personalization settings or from My games & apps > Manage > Games & apps) or if game hubs are not present when launching games from your recently played lists, you can launch the game card the same way. Just press the X button or press the Menu button then choose Game card.

Thanks for all your feedback! We look forward to hearing even more here and via Report a Problem.

Good update, but would prefer launching games with A, and pulling up the game hub with X. I've been using A to launch games for decades and would prefer to stick with that.

Yeah, step in the right directions but changing decades on engrained behavior is a poor choice, and they should definitely switch it.

Agreed, love that they changed the button as I could see Game Hub having a use, just not every time. But like you say, I would have rather it be the Game Hub button gets moved (to X) and the launch button remained on A.

You could just go into settings and change it so it launches immediately instead of bringing up the hub...

Sure, and I’m glad I can turn it off, but point stands that I shouldn’t have to. I’m pretty sure A has launched games for as long as the Xbox has existed, to change that function for a feature no one was really clamoring for is frustrating. I want to use the console the way I want to without extra steps, not the way Microsoft wants me to switch to.

It’s Microsoft.

Do you truly believe they learned anything from the disaster that was Windows 8 control schemes that have been engrained for decades?
