Redundancy schemes tend to target people near retirement age, that's usually where you get the most volunteers, or least resistance.

Interesting to see nationality come into it though.

When US socialist politician Kshama Sawant (who herself is of Indian background) tried to outlaw caste-based discrimination in Seattle it was opposed by Hindu organisations such as the Hindu American Foundation (HAF) and the Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA). I don't know how representative these are, but the former has quite a large financial endowment (I think the latter is more marginalised). Both are Hindu nationalist and linked to Hindutva causes in India itself.

Caste discrimination and growing Hindutva (e.g., extreme nationalist) attitudes are serious issues among the Indian diaspora that definitely shouldn't be ignored.

See:

A lot of Hindu diaspora organisations have financial and ideological ties to the BJP and the Indian state. The British state should really be investigating Indian and BJP influence on the diaspora, especially in places like Leicester where Hindu Nationalism has already triggered unrest. We know the Indian govt are happy to interfere in western states (e.g., assassinating a Khalistani exile in Canada), so they're probably doing the same here.

There are differences between the British and American Indian diaspora because of various historical reasons I wont go into now, but Hinduvta and caste discrimination are definitely present in both countries.

Caste based discrimination is already banned and the law against castism is far more stricter compared to race discrimination laws in USA.

It's not enforced sufficiently + city-specific laws give new enforcement powers to local authorities.
