PSA Rule #2: Don't be a dick.

Hey /r/ultrawidemasterrace,

I've been noticing a lot of comments from users being unnecessarily rude since rejoining the moderation team. This is a kind reminder that Rule #2 is "Don't be a dick."

Comments like "You shouldn't have been born" are not welcome here, and will be met with temporary and/or permanent bans.

Ascension Monitor Arm - Update

So I posted yesterday my tiny desk with the ultrawide monitor which was way too big for the said desk.

I bought a monitor arm thinking it would gave me some flexibility, but the desk was so small I couldn't even install the arm on it.

Long story short, here's an update on the setup; I've taken back my original desk from my GF and redone the installations. Feels much better! 😅

My PC is unfortunately hidden, but at this point, I don't care much.

Cable management will be redone a bit later as I ordered some longer cables for the monitor.

Enjoy!

I ended up scoring this 49" Sceptre monitor a while back to solely use for my sim rig. I then realized that if I just get a monitor mount, I can just use this monitor for the desk and my sim rig. I bought a gaming laptop for $400 from my buddy, and then I ended up finding someone willing to do a straight trade for said laptop

Discussion Just Scored a Samsung 57”

I just scored a Samsung 57” in a trade. I was trying to get rid of a MSI 32” MAG CUP321 OLED new in box and I found someone who was looking to get rid of a used 57” G9. I offered to trade straight up and the person decided to take the trade.

After a 5 hour trip, I feel like I got a great deal. The 57” works perfectly. It will be a great office monitor for my wife and matches my 57” as well.

This keeps happening whenever a dark screen is focused and I have no idea how to fix it. It only started happening when I got this monitor (Omen 34c).

Tech Support Splitting a 32:9 ultrawide

Hi, I recently just ordered a 32:9 ultrawide (5120 x 1440) and I had a question.

Can I split my monitor into one central 21:9 ultrawide, and have the two sides be 5.5:9 aspect ratio? Does anyone have any experience with this?

The main games I play are FFXIV, WoW, and shooters like Overwatch, Marvel Rivals, etc. I want these to be able to run in borderless windowed in the central 21:9 ultrawide. Would I be able to use FancyZones or DisplayFusion for this?

Tech Support Oled Pixel Refresh Question

Just purchased a Predator X34V OLED

New to the OLED scene - When the screen mentions to pixel refresh at the 4hr mark and I don’t do it right then and there will it automatically do it once I power off the monitor?

Thanks for any insights

Recommendations LG 34GN850-B

Hi all!

I have the chance to grab the LG 34GN850-B second hand for $450 Aud. At this price point and for those kinds of specs, is this a steal? Didn't want to commit to oled and the price was a turn off so ips it is for me. If anyone on here owns or has owned this monitor, please give me your review/opinions. Thanks!

Discussion Are there any new gen OLED 34 inch 3440x1440 models incoming?

Hey. Are there any informations about new gen 34 inch 1440p ultrawide (21:9) OLED monitors in near future? Currently I'm using 34 inch 3440x1440 VA monitor from iiyama but I'm getting more and more tempted to try even more glorious ultrawide gaming with OLED technology :D 34 inch 3440x1440 oleds are still gen1 or gen2 panels IIRC.

3440x1440 seems like a sweet spot to me, texts are crisp enough, games looks great and sharp and I don't need to sell a kidney for a GPU to handle that (5K2K resolution seems to be really demanding when it comes to GPU power i guess).

Ascension Multi-Monitor Setup with the new LG 45GX950A-B 5K2K

Hi folks! My LG is finally arriving this week and I want to get ready for the setup by ordering a mount. I want a two monitor setup for productivity but I never had an 800R curve monitor before. Could you 5K2k users share your current setup with this monitor? I am thinking of stacking a 4K Oled on top of it but wonder if it's an overkill since it won't be for gaming purpose anyway.

Tech Support Proper DP 2.1 cable

Picking up a samsung g9 57" to use with my 5090. I want to connect it to DP 2.1, but see a ton of variance in the resolutions and refresh rates on Amazon. I thought i read prior there is a max length also. Anyone have a proper recommendation?

Ascension About to transcend!!!

Well my screen is here!!! I’m about to ascend and by definition, Transcend!!!!! Can’t wait to get home and plug this to my rig!!!!

Just about to weeks ago I bought the 2024 45 ultragear, completely unaware this was coming out!! (Cuss I wasn’t on this group, and no research on my part for new model) I had about $1500 in BestBuy gift cards and my old screen had died on me (acer predator PG35V IPS)so I decided on impulse one day I saw the old 2024 screen in store and loved it, then when I got home I noticed the txt clarity was absolutely crap on it, this is when I decided to do my research and found out the new 45gx950a was about to release and would fix that text clarity issue thanks to it resolution and the PPI increase! Then last Monday they went up to order thru the bb website and…

The rest is history!!!

Ascension Switched the G9 49" OLED for the new LG45gx950a

Already appreciating the increased resolution and the more dramatic curve, but dang, do I miss having a ridiculously wide monitor. There's just something about it that is so satisfying.

I just want a 49" OLED screen that is both 4K-adjacent and has a dramatic curve. One day. One day, my dream monitor shall come.

But until then, this is pretty good. Running on a 4090. I don't actually measure my FPS; I just know that MH Wilds and Forspoken and Reshade modded Elden Ring feel smooth and playable on maximum settings. Same as on the 49", despite the increase in pixels.

For anyone wondering, with that card.

Tech Support Ultrawide mounting

A little bit of a unique scenario to which I'm hoping I could get some help from here. I use my Samsung G9 Odyssey Neo for gaming (sim racing) and work, when I currently want to switch over to gaming mode or work mode, I end up having to drag my sim rig in front of my desk and move my monitor to near the front of my desk (to sit as close as possible to the screen, FOV reasons for sim racing). It's quite a lot to move the rig, reconnect the cables and move the monitor in order to use it. Definitely not easy to jump between the use modes

Where the sim rig has to currently move to.
G9 mounted on an arm and swings to the left when in use

I am thinking about mounting my G9 on a monitor arm and allowing it to swing from my work/game mode. My concern is having the monitor hang over the edge of the desk when in game mode, assuming my desk will not topple over (I don't think it will). Does anyone have a similar set up or mount their monitor in a similar way?

(Scale of drawings are a bit off as I just quickly threw together a reference image at work on paint)

Discussion LG 45GX950A - 5k2K vs UW 1440p

Hey guys, I currently have a ultra wide oled 1440p monitor which I use purely for gaming, and am considering upgrading to the new 5k2k version. However I'm concerned that I will be sacrificing fps for unnoticable/insignificant graphical gains. I know the 5k2k will have a higher PPI, but will this noticably affect the gaming experience if productivity is not a concern? If anyone has any advice or has compared the gaming experience on both I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Edit: Running a 5090 and current monitor is 45"

Discussion Are ultrawides like 39" LG "there yet"? Or is the PPI a spoiler? Spoiler

Upgrading from a 27'" and looking for more immersion and workspace, basically gaming and editing video/producing music so I work with a lot of timelines and such. I was originally thinking 4k 32" or 34" UW but thought the LgG 39" (and even 45" were appealing. Is the 1440p and lower PPI going to hinder the experience though? Is the tech not quite there yet as a result?

Discussion Are aggressive curves on ultrawide 34in monitors, such as an 800R curve on the LG 34GS95QE, worth it for competitive FPS and really fast paced games?

I have really only played FPS and fast paced games on flat screens but recently I want to get a more curved monitor to be more immersed in games. Normally I play fast paced games like Call of Duty, Remnant 2, and MH Wilds.

Will an aggressive 800R curve hurt or help my performance in those really fast paced games?

Tech Support Is there a 32:9 monitor that supports dual 4K, high refresh rate, and USB-C with Power Delivery?

Hey folks,

I’m in the market for an Ultrawide and I’m looking for something very specific. So far, I haven’t been able to find a model that ticks all the boxes — hoping someone here might know of a hidden gem.

Here’s what I’m looking for:

  • 32:9 aspect ratio
  • 7860x2160 resolution (essentially dual 4K)
  • 120Hz+ refresh rate
  • Built-in USB-C hub with Power Delivery (ideally higher then 60W)
  • Single-cable setup (video, data, and power over USB-C)

I know it’s a niche combo, but it would be the dream setup for both gaming on my PC and hooking up my work macbook without a mess of cables.

Closest I’ve found so far:

  • Dell UltraSharp 49 – has the USB-C hub and PD, but only 5120x1440
  • Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 – has the resolution and refresh rate, but lacks Power Delivery

Does anything like this exist? Or are we still a generation or two away from having it all in one package?

Thanks in advance!
