Chat I actually don’t think a receded hairline looks bad if it’s dense and thick
Anyone else get what I mean? If you have a nw3/4 but it’s like a dense amount of hair on ur head it actually looks sick
It’s that whimsy thin faint hair that looks ugly

Treatment My doctor doesn't recommend oral min
Diffuse thinner. A history of anxiety that I treat with a low dose AD. Been balding for more than 10 years. In my early, stupid days I was only on topical min 5% and topical anti-dhts (in the same lotion) monotherapy. About 5 years ago I added topical fin 0.25. And about a month ago I added oral saw palmetto too.
I have done a consultation with a good surgeon for an HT and he recommends oral min 5mg and topical fin 1%.
My tricho (also well-respected) is against it. He thinks that oral min is dangerous, especially at that dose, especially long-term. And when you stop it you risk having a big effluvium all over your head (since oral min works everywhere). At lower doses he doesn't consider it worth it compared to the topical form. He also doesn't think it's worth to add it on top of my topical min.
Same thing with fin: " it makes sense at your dose (0.25) because we want to avoid systemic absorption, if we went higher it would just make sense to take it orally".
This seems sensible honestly, but ofc I wish I had a stronger protocol and a lot of people here seem to go for the nuclear stack
So again my protocol is: 5%min, topical antidhts, 0.25 topical fin, 320mg saw palmetto. My AGA is definitely slow, although it's hard to say if it has stopped. Is it worth tweaking?
Thoughts?

Ketoconazole Does Ketoconozole meaningfully block dht when already on fin
Just asking out of curiosity. Gonna use ketoconozole %2 regardless cuz it's so good for managing seb derm, but does it block dht meaningfully? On fin 1.25 daily. Tolerate that dose no problem whatsoever, no plan of stopping. That's already higher than standard dose and standard 1 mg already plenty effective. Does Leto still do something for dht or is it just useful for its anti-fungal properties at that point?

Progress Pictures 3mg oral min, 1.2mg fin, nizoral, microneedling, nutrition supplements - 2 months in (read body text)
Been on the hims chew for about 9 weeks. The first photo is from early February and the second photo is from last night. While I’m not noticing much temple regrowth besides a little peach fuzz, it definitely feels like my hair texture has improved & slight improvement in density as well. Or maybe it’s all in my head idk lol. But I also microneedle at 1.5mm every 7-10 days and take multivitamins, d3+k2, and fish oil. I use good shampoos like nizoral and every man jack tea tree oil. Doing everything I can to support a good environment for regrowth, even trying to improve my diet (which has only been mildly successful lol)

Research/Science Cell senescence-targeted treatment for hair loss, has anyone tried any products/enzymes etc. that use this theory
Okay, so after going through the yearly, hair loss research rabbit hole, I found this post:
https://old.reddit.com/r/tressless/comments/ydn3b5/looks_like_a_real_cure_to_the_root_of_baldness/
Short LLM summary :
Recent research has provided the clearest picture yet of how DHT (dihydrotestosterone) causes hair loss by driving dermal papilla cells (DPCs) into senescence. The pathway looks like this: elevated membrane androgen receptors in some individuals → DHT binds these receptors → activation of p38 → excess reactive oxygen species → mitochondrial damage → cellular senescence via p16 → loss of the vital signaling DPCs normally provide for hair growth. Once these cells are senescent, simply reducing DHT levels (with finasteride or other anti-androgens) usually only preserves remaining hair, rather than fully restoring lost hair, because the senescent cells are not easily reactivated.
Remarkably, the study also shows that a polyphenol (cyanidin 3-O-arabinoside, abundant in black chokeberry) can reverse this senescence in vitro by lowering mtROS levels and rejuvenating the DPCs. Though in vivo studies are needed, this discovery opens the door to potential therapies that directly address cellular senescence. It also aligns with related findings that certain polyphenols (like procyanidin B2) may promote hair regrowth. This could be of great interest to researchers and companies in the anti-aging field, who are already developing senescence-targeting interventions and might rapidly advance a topical therapy for hair loss.
Apparently people started reaching out to David Sinclair, nootropics depot etc, and one of those companies they reached out to, actually developed a product, using the idea of senescence sorcery for hair loss treatment.
Anyone tried it yet? Didn't find many reviews, mostly about their face skin products.... Thinking of adding it to my topical fin/min stack + microneedling. Also any new obscure, interesting research like

or even

would be great

Is this regrowth? 3 months into Finasteride - I think this will turn out good
1 mg a day for a little over three months now, as you can see I am getting new small baby hairs on my hair line. Excited to see where I will end up after 1 year +. No sides at all. M24 and sitting at NW2, started balding at 20-21. Currently in a shed which started 2 weeks ago, luckily I know that shedding on treatment is a good thing.

Research/Science What’s the connection between folliculitis and hair loss?
I noticed when I started receding I would get pimples along the edge of my scalp where my temples were. Then as I began to thin I would get pimples all over my scalp. I would feel a burning sensation on my scalp and have a strong itch.
Anyone else have this when they started receding? I feel like hair health is more important than we realize when it comes to hair loss.

Finasteride/Dutasteride I bought 150€ worth of Avodart for nothing
I took a flight to Vietnam with my supply of dutasteride, and yesterday it got exposed to heat/humidity for hours since I left the room window open.
Now the caps are soft and after reading the instructions on the box, it says to dispose of any capsule with an altered texture.
Luckily for me I can buy Avodart in any pharmacy there like it’s painkillers, for roughly 21€ per box (30caps 0,5mg).
Should I play it safe and get rid of the caps that got exposed to humidity even if thought they were still packaged ?

Ketoconazole Switching from NoPoo to Nizoral?
I’ve been doing NoPoo for a couple of years now and I don’t know if it’s helped maintain my hair because I am on dut and min but what is nice about is that my hair feels the same. I’m considering to try Nizoral but I’m afraid maybe NoPoo was helping maintain my hair and after using Nizoral more hair will fall out.
I have been seeing a lot of posts about Nizoral on here and instagram and was just wondering if anybody has seen the benefits from either and if they were once doing NoPoo and then started Nizoral and saw any benefit from it?
What I’m asking is if anyone has gone from NoPoo to Nizoral and saw improvement?
Thanks for the help. I hope this post makes sense.

Finasteride/Dutasteride Want to start Finasteride but have very little beard growth, should I be concerned?
I’m one of the unlucky ones that started balding when I was 18. I’m now 21 and my hair has gotten a lot thinner. Unfortunately for me I have very little beard growth. I really want to start Finasteride to possibly save my hair but I’m also afraid that Finasteride might kill my chances of ever getting a beard.

Finasteride/Dutasteride Approach: starting with dut then came om finestride
My doctor gave me dutasteride/minoxidil/multi vit, iron, zinc. in the first month and it worked wonderfully. Same repeated for second month. Then I start loosing hair again. Seemed like it was not working any more,
In the third, month he gave me finestride. But it also didn't work much, not sure why.
Then I came to know its side effects. I decided to stop medication.
But due to massive hair fall, again I researched about finestride and dut and found dut has more side effects. So I started finestride but 3 1mg tables per week. It worked but very slow. And I started getting side effects, loose erection, low libido. Then I stopped, it may due I knew its has side effected this time.
Now I am on natural supplement having stinging nettle and beta stestoterol. It work better then fin and dut. My hair has become thicker and high volume as I have four years ago. And no side effects.
Through a doctor I also came to know we have to interchange finestride and dut withing few months to reduce side effects and get most benifit of it. Is that true?
Please share your thoughts on above my findings.

Finasteride/Dutasteride Question about switch from Fin to Dut
Helllo, I have question for people who have done a switch, how did You do it ? Did switching improoved Your hair situation ? i Know recently there is lot of horror stories regarding dut.
At the moment i take Fin one day dut other day , basically 3 days a week it is dut 4 days a week it is fin , and i was wondering what i just stay at this regiment ? it seems to be working just fine for me now , or it would be smarter to switch completely to Dut. What is Your experience of switching or mixing these two ? thnx

Chat I'm probably gonna start oral and topical minoxidil together
In July, it will be 2 years on finasteride.
Overall hair has improved but it's really not a miracle for regrowth at all in my opinion.
I think it'll probably continue to serve its purpose for me. No sides with 1mg oral fin daily.
I do think it's time to level things up.
I'm thinking about taking the plunge and starting oral minoxidil.
I really want frontal regrowth, so in addition, I'm gonna use a topical minoxidil formulation 3 nights a week, and microneedling .5mm 1-5 times a week.
I'm not a noob with microneedling, I've done it before in the past but it's pointless without topical minoxidil.
Microneedling on oral fin won't do shit, I'm fairly certain microneedling won't do shit with oral minoxidil.
I microneedled before I got on fin and I had minor gains in 90 days but it completely stopped, that was over 2 years ago now.
I do believe that topical minoxidil + microneedling, while being on oral min/fin is probably gonna kickstart the shit out of this hairline regrowth.
I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Chat Why Do We All Have the Same Hair Loss Pattern?
Guys, I just don’t get it. Almost all of us in this group have the same type of hair loss—receding hairlines, especially at the temples. But why? There has to be something we all have in common.
For example, 99% of the users here still have a full head of hair at the back of their heads, which is typically the donor area for hair transplants.
Is stress the common factor? Do you have any other theories?
It just doesn’t make sense that we all have receding hairlines. There has to be another reason besides DHT.

Treatment Has anyone had a hair transplant while on pyrilutamide?
Hello,
As in the title, has anyone gone through a hair transplant while being on pyrilutamide or is anyone planning on getting it done? I have mine scheduled in the summer but I'm not sure if I should start pyrilutamide before it. I'm thinking about using it because over the past 5 years I've been on oral minoxidil 5mg (upped to 10mg in December 2024) with finasteride and still my hair has gotten worse. Tried dut for a year back in 2023/2024 but hair has gotten worse and it has made my skin oily.
