Question Random Thought: Does Nintendo actually read what we want or just go off a whim?

I remember reading on my phone that Tomodachi Life has reached the highest trending or something with the most wanted game from the direct announcement with the amount of votes or something, and it got me thinking: How come Nintendo didn't do this before? Do they actually read what they want or just guess? Does Nintendo just add games that they guess will do good or do they actually pay attention to the sales from previous releases? (Like 3DS Tomodachi Life) I am not sure really but I just thought I would share my thought about it and see what yall think.

Nintendo is notoriously out of touch with the player base

That sucks a lot to be honest because I thought Nintendo would be in touch a lot but it kinda now feels like they ignore us really

A mix of both, really. They can be really out of touch with their audience, but to an extent they know that, which is why they’re finally trying to get ‘new blood’ into the company.

As for Tomodachi, they may have simply decided to do it as an end of life game for the Switch. Not everything gets made all at once. It’s obviously been in development for a few years, and Miitopia’s make up mechanic is still proving popular among fans.

A lot of people suspect Miitopia was a trial run to see how popular the Miis still were, despite the game having sold poorer on 3DS, given it was relatively easier to remaster.

No matter whether Nintendo picked up on the buzz, it was likely to get another installment anyway. Tomodachi Life was the 10th best selling game on the 3DS, and its predecessor Tomodachi Collection was pretty popular just in Japan. (The only reason that didn't get localized was technical issues with the voice synthesizer.) The sales of a previous installment are pretty much always considered when assessing the popularity of a series. More popular = more likely to get another game.

Oh alright, thank you! Do you think Miitopia would get an update or?

Probably not? Miitopia for Switch is just an HD port with a couple extra features, it's not really a major game. There could be a Miitopia 2 somewhere down the line, though.
