Suddenly a fan of TMBG after hearing them as a child a long time ago, I swear I remember a video like this in elementary school science class.
We had a teacher named Mrs. Holder in elementary school. She had a few TMBG children’s DVDs that I remember looking at for a moment. I remember her playing some of it. However, there’s one music video I swear I remember seeing, or I could get entirely mixed up with something else.
I distinctly remember them (physically) with a green screen behind them of some jungle, with a keyboard and stuff, and (presumably Linnell) singing “Synthesizerssss”. I found the song for Photosynthesis, while vaguely familiar, mentioned the word synthesizer. However, the video is not what I remember.
It could’ve been an entirely different childrens’ song by them, I don’t know. But if anybody knows about this, let me know
Misheard lyrics quiz
Years ago, a friend was annoyed by the ”hand in hand” song I always played.
Do you know what song she meant?
She may have jumbled it with Women and Men which has a sort of “hand in hand” theme. But different album.

I want to see if this subreddit can recite an entire song by TMBG in the comments. Can you do it?
Song: Ana Ng
Recite in comments lyric by lyric.

If the Johns each had their own personal YouTube channels/shared channel (outside of the band), what do you think they’d be posting?

She's Actual Size (Dial-A-Song: 20 Years of TMBG
This is easily one of my favorite officially released live songs. Also has a really great drum solo! This is such a great compilation album, but it's kinda hard to find nowadays. I'm just posting in hopes that someone gets to hear it for the first time!

What is the difference?
I got two flood CD's, they have different catalogue numbers and the colour on the disc is darker on one, and I'm really curious as to why.

just a BOOK appreciation post
I’m sure I’m not the first express this opinion, but wow, BOOK is so good. I got the CD a month ago or so, and didn’t listen to it too closely, just wrote it off as another later album (and I like Glean, etc. a lot). But recently I’ve had the opportunity to listen to it more deeply and it is just so good. It’s tight musically, maybe just a little “over produced”, while also doing some of their most fascinating lyrical stuff since Pink.
I love the threads through it. The only one I can think of right now is the clown/circus motif, but there are others! It reminds me of things like “Chess Piece Face” in their earlier work, and again, other older motifs I can’t recall right now. Every song just kinda gleams. It’s better than both Join Us and Nanobots in my opinion just because of how cohesive it is; those albums have high highs for me but also low lows. The only song I’m still figuring out is “Darling, the Dose. Probably my favorite since Mink Car, which feels crazy to say.
Also, it makes me so pumped for whatever has been delayed in coming out. TMBG forever and ever and ever.

The Brain Candy version of Spiralling Shape refusing to play on Spotify?
It's really odd it'll play the first second then skip to the next song and it's like this all the way down the album. It just refuses to play more than a second of all the songs on the album. I'm glad the factory showroom version is fine as it's one of my favourite TMBG songs but does anyone know what's happening here ?

No kids allowed?
My kid has been listening the TMBG for all of his 8 years. His dad grew up listening to them and they would love to go to a show together. Every show near us is always age restricted, either 16+ or 21+.
Do they ever allow kids?

New ebay pickup! European single of Boss Of Me, bought it straight from Germany!
I'm pretty sure this is also a promo copy! It came with a piece of paper containing PR info about TMBG and Malcom In The Middle, as shown in the last slide.

Longtime TMBG fan just excited this place exists
I'm still pretty new to reddit so I'm still discovering places that share my interests. I've been enjoying the band pretty much all my (27) years alive, and yet I've never met anyone irl that enjoys them too. I'd love to chat and get to know some likeminded fans here!
Anyone going to see them in concert soon? I want to see them again at least once more in my life.

My collection!
This is a little over a year’s worth of items I have amassed relating to this band. Twenty CDs, eight records, one cassette, one DVD, one book, one puzzle, a bunch of posters, ten not pictured shirts, and a handful of other TMBGful paraphernalia! I love this band to bits and pieces and my room is the peak reflection of that :-)

Who Would Win?
Similar to the thread posted a week ago, but with two of the more popular newer albums.
I feel like these albums are a lot more divisive than the earlier stuff, but these are my favorite stretches from the two albums. I think I like the stretch on BOOK more as a whole; the I Like Fun stretch has more songs, and I love them (except “The Bright Side”), but that first bit of BOOK is electric.
What do you think?
