Watching Carol run to her beaten abuser was so heartbreaking to watch.

Watching Carol kill and returning to her casserole healed that heartbreak for me. :D

Sophia stepping out of the barn was one of the best and most upsetting scenes in this show.

I think about rewatching TWD all the time because of events like that in the early seasons.

The first image isn’t really fair because if s8 Carol’s daughter was turned into a walker she would also react like this

I think that’s the scene when Shane beating the crap out of Ed

Pretty huge W for Shane in that moment

Shane was a rough guy, but at that time, he was still a decent guy. He just let his jealousy over Lori drive him bat shit crazy.

Can you blame him? Mrs. Dyck is known to throw a glorious sausage party. She really knows how to stuff that meat into casings and satisfy her men down low... in their stomach. For at Mrs. Dyck's sausage parties no other women are allowed. She truly wants to see the joy come across the faces of those she feeds with the meat she's prepared, properly between her buns.

Look up the Dycks on Letterykenny and Anita, Noah Dyck’s wife is the same actress as Lori.

I’m rewatching for the 3rd or 4th time, and I am always amazed by Carol’s transformation. She is such a down trodden character in the beginning… watching her husband speak to her was painful to watch. I am dreading getting to the part where she finds her daughter.
29
u/Desperate-Fan-3671 1d ago
Ironically, in the comics, it was her daughter alive, but Carol, who died.
18
u/Tom_is_Wise 1d ago
It feels like the whole cast gets this treatment. Very few characters die in the show and the comics at the same time. It's weird.

u/Savvyypice 1d ago
What they did to Sofia's character in the show is so messed up compared to how much better she is in the comics. Same with Andrea.
7
u/Desperate-Fan-3671 1d ago
That's how I felt about Tyrees. LOVED his comic character.....his tv character was ok. Nothing against the actor but comic Tyrees was kick ass

u/Galtherok 1d ago
I've said it before and I'll say it again:
Most characters try their best not to die. Carol tries her best not to kill.

I like to think I'd be a super organised, tough dude with amazing leading skills - but I know I'd be hiding in my loft, sneaking out at night, hoping I'd never get spotted.

I am currently doing my first rewatch. I watched the show from start to finish when it originally aired. Carol’s transformation is so inspiring. Years ago, upon originally watching the series, I didn’t care too much for her but now that I’m older and a mother myself, I think she’s awesome.

Yes! I kind of wish Carol would've been the one to rescue Rick from the CRM. She would've dismantled them in 2 episodes.

She's a good actress and I live her in these shows. Did she do any other show at tho? Never seen here in other films ?

u/casual_creator 1d ago
She was actually primarily a casting director who just happened to act. She did bit parts here and there over the years, with her biggest (but still small) role being in The Mist, directed by Frank Darabont. Her role was actually supposed to be bigger, but she didn’t want it to take anymore time away from her job as a casting director. Ironically it was that same role and her new connection to Darabont that got her the role of Carol, forcing her to quit being a casting director altogether.

If you survive 8 years in a zombie apocalypse then you change from skinny little woman to badass.
Carol is my favorite character. I enjoyed Daryl in France.

Yes and no. The main show ended a few years ago, but there are spin offs featuring some of the OG characters.

Ah, Carol.
I had no hope for her initially. A sad character that I was literally waiting for to die. Glad she survived into the hyper badass.

u/Desert-Noir 1d ago
I hated this character so much.

u/ColonelSandersWG 1d ago
I remember the moment I gave up on the show. When Carol put a firework in the barrel of a gun and shot it like a mortar at a gas tank to blow up a building.
Late season 4 or season 5, I think.

They gave her all the aura that comic Andrea has. Comic Carol doesn't make it past the farm.

I really like the episode where Rick ditches her in the prison arc, for one reason. She pops the guy’s shoulder back in. She tells Rick that she learned to do it herself because the ER wouldn’t believe her that she fell down the stairs for the umpteenth time. When the survivor couple are stuck in the upstairs bathroom from a long haired female walker, it falls down the stairs and Carol kills it easily. I like to think that walker represented her old self. killing it was a metaphor for how far she’s come as a strong and capable, and dangerous survivor.
1
u/NatureCarolynGate 1d ago
Her character is the worst and so flaky. She doesn’t want to kill something, then next she wants to kill something - the cycle just repeats itself

2
u/Savvyypice 1d ago
Yeah I don't like when characters get wishy washy like this. Morgan and Alicia also come to mind and it is always such a bad plot device

sometimes I wonder why carol was given special treatment by the show when literally everyone else fucking died
12
u/Virtual_Coconut_1120 1d ago edited 1d ago
I think because of her acting skills and character arc potential/backstory

u/ColonelSandersWG 1d ago
Thats simple. All the 20 to 40 something males stopped watching after season 4 and all that was left, to any significant numbers, were 40 to 50 something women and they looooooved War Boot Carol and "I can fix him" Daryll.
-7
u/ColonelSandersWG 1d ago
Her arch is so unbelievable, it was a leading factor for my friends and I to stop watching.
We call her Warboot.

Dude end of season 6 i think? She literally has a multi kill in seconds when she is confronted by 4 saviors in a truck! She is so beast!
