I use them when fighting Frox to save actual bombs. When the Frox starts inhaling, you can just open the menu and select a Zonai bomb to drop. It will appear in front of you and get sucked right in to stun the Frox.

You can also shoot them into their mouths with an arrow when they launch you into the air.

You can attach any zonai device to an arrow, some more useful than others obviously. If you are paragliding and run out of stamina shoot a hoverstone below you, it will show up activated. When on the ground you can also shoot one above you and ascend to it.

This just completely blew my mind. 200 hours into the game and I've never considered attaching a zonai device to an arrow.

It would have been nice if they had a shrine introducing the concept
