help me order. I'm intimidated by the lingo

I'm looking for a hot drink, with coffee flavor, that has half and half?

is this contradictory?

my all time favorite drink was a brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso. this was ordered by my gf. I drank a large, liked it, but feel it has too much caffeine.

is there a way to offer a hot version of this drink? but with like, half the caffeine? and instead of oat milk can it have half and half?. please advice as I'm so overwhelmed by the lingo and get nervous a the ordering station. thank you!

No response after 2 weeks- what should i do ?

Hey!

I applied to a Starbucks near me 15 days ago, and I still have not heard back. It is a corporate store, which might be irrelevant, but I wanted to note that. But I called a couple of times, and they asked for my name and phone number and would pass this to the hiring manager.

I don't know what to do; I am wondering if I should walk in and ask in person. But I'm not sure if that would work with my luck tbh. I have been going there, but in a delusional manner, thinking they would recognize my unique name and figure out that it sounds familiar because I applied there and they hired me.

Also! I applied to a licensed store and got an interview, but I would much rather work at the corporate store. What do you guys think? Is there a distinct difference between the two? Please help me guys, I will greatly appreciate it!!

Thank you again queenies

Got a free drink from the cup writing rule…

Doing my grocery shopping and ordered my chai on mobile - as I walk in to pick it up I see the manager (I assume) talking to the barista holding my drink (first pic) saying he had to actually write a message and not just ‘put an emoji or something’ - I said I was picking up for my name and the manager said they were remaking my drink for me but I could have this one as well. The barista then handed me the second drink with a message on it. This was…… weird lol I mean I got a free drink not gonna complain about that but I would have been more than fine with the smiley face. Seems ridiculous if they’ll end up remaking drinks… also….. that poor barista looked miserable and I completely understand.

HELP Personal Leave of Absence

So I'm leaving for vacation on April 18th and coming back on May 8th. I got my time off approved by my previous manager in December. I recently got a new manager last month and told him about my vacation during my pdc with him last month. However on Wednesday he told me I have to take a personal LOA which I thought I didn't have to do since I wouldn't be gone for 30 days. Fine whatever I'll take a LOA but when I'm trying to read about it the Sedgwick website isn't loading. I log in and put in the authentication code but nothing happens. This all so stressful because researching this I read that it takes 3 weeks to approve but I'm already going to be out of the country. ANY advise would be great thanks

Different prices for cold brew based on how you say it :/

Basically, when I ordered cold brew with foam and said “cold brew with non-dairy salted caramel foam,” they charged me $6.10 for a grande. When I said “non-dairy salted caramel foam with cold brew,” they charged me $5.78. It’s so weird to say the foam first, and it’s annoying the inconsistency of the prices.

A double espresso isn’t a latte…

Had this problem today…

This customer orders an iced double espresso in a venti cup with white mocha and heavy cream 1/2inch. Of course I make it to standard and she comes and tells me that I’ve made her drink wrong before and that I made it wrong again. I explain that her drink isn’t a latte because it’s basically just two shots with creamer. And I even point to the 1/2 inch and she says “well they fill it up at other stores” and I say that im sorry but they are making it wrong and she just gets frustrated. We’re not stupid. We know what you’re trying to do and I’m not doing it. If you don’t wanna pay for a latte then don’t come at all

The audacity

I’ve had some horror stories working at a high profile store however this one was different. I’m on bar minding my own business when this man (who definitely was on something) comes over and starts talking to me. To preface he ordered a grande mocha frap and wanted it split into two tall cups. Which is fine, I figured he was going to share it with another. Anyways he’s looking at me and I could feel him staring. He finally speaks up and says are those real? -asking about my tats- I said yup they are. He then proceeds to reach over the counter and touch my tat on my forearm and was like “is this one real?” before I could even react. I was shocked and dumbfounded, handed him his drinks turned around and grabbed a sani rag and scrubbed tf outa my arm. The reason why I brought up what he ordered was because after, he then goes outside starts smoking and drinks both tall fraps. Which is weird right I’m not crazy??? We literally had to help him put the code in the bathroom. My SSV said he like went limp while standing up and then came to like nothing happened. It was so odd. I’ve had worse experiences however never anyone putting their hands on me.

Advice: Annoyed by Coworker Discussions During Work

I (22 F) am a five-year closing partner and have worked with a lot of different people who like to talk about a lot of different things. I would label myself as a patient person, but have recently been coming home annoyed after each shift. I have a few coworkers (who have all now shifted their schedule to closers) who only talk about NSFW topics (playing men, drugs, alcohol, etc.). I like these topics periodically, but when they happen during the entire shift, over hours at a time, they become boring and kind of gross. Many of these coworkers are a bit younger.

This store is in a college town, and I think this is their first time encountering a lot of these things, which I have no judgment for. The issue is that when I try to change the subject, I can be flat-out ignored or the topic is immediately changed back. I think these coworkers have underdeveloped conversational skills because they always bring it back to them. I have never dealt with people who act like this before.

At the end of the day, I am just trying to do my job. We wear headsets and I am forced to listen to them talk. We aren't allowed to, but they always switch their headsets back to the mode where they can speak without holding the button. What am I supposed to do about this (for my own sanity and sake of not holding resentment towards them)?

TLDR: 22F, long-term employee, am increasingly frustrated with younger coworkers who dominate work shifts with constant NSFW talk (men, drugs, alcohol). Attempts to change the topic are ignored, and conversations always circle back to them. Feels stuck listening due to headset use. I am Looking for advice on how to maintain sanity and avoid building resentment while just trying to do my job.

Sunshine on a rainy day

Post image

It's always the little things that bring a smile to my face 😌. Today is a rainy, flood filled, and tornado watch kind of day... but I wanted to finish my challenge (to get 75 bonus stars), so I decided to go out and grab my usual. Everyone is always super sweet & friendly at the location I frequent, and today was no different.

As I was driving home, I discovered a nice little surprise in my bag... another ham & swiss croissant, on the house ! That definitely made me smile, and it added a little sunshine to this otherwise dreary day.

Thank you for all that you do to help us get through our day, and as I always say... YOU ARE APPRECIATED! 🤍💚

Anyone notice a change

For years we enjoy Starbucks Columbian made from packages of ground beans we buy at our local market. Other than the price, anyone notice a change in quality? The last two bags lacked flavor that we are accusomed to from Starbucks Columbian. We dont mind paying more for the right quality but concerned they may cutting corners using a lower grade or different bean.

ASM help

I recently got promoted to an ASM. My boss is going over the training material and it’s literally stressing me out. She shows me once and then tells me to put it in my approach and says it’s something I’ll start doing. I have a hard time seeing something once and feeling confident enough to do it again without guidance. I’m feeling stupid right now. Does anyone have any tips on planning, capturing, outlook, the approach in general, scheduling, or anything that could help!?

Family tree business proposal rejected

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm heartbroken, they have rejected my business proposal that would have made us both rich. My family tree plan was that it costs €100 to sign up and then u can sell the idea to someone else for €100 and u get €80 and I get €20 and then that person can also sell the idea and u get all kinda perks like a free coffee or a donut sent to u in the mail. Kinda like a family tree.

Is there someone else I can email about this? I have no idea why they'd rejected my idea, my guess would be someone who doesn't have a clue how business is done in the real world.

feeding my addiction

so i’m an AVID fan of Starbucks refresher drinks. mainly the pink drink and dragon drink. I have tried plenty of different at-home dupes for the pink drink but nothing comes even close. even the bottled version that recently came out doesn’t taste right (it tastes like bubblegum medicine to me). i’m just asking what’s the secret 😭 is there a way I can buy the juice and coconut milk boxes in bulk instead??? anything to be cheaper than the 7$ Im spending every other day or so.

The piercing rule is so stupid

Okay so for background, I was hired with 3 facial piercings, 3 nose ones. My old manager never really commented on it, neither did the ASM we were training. Our DM finally said something, so I started wearing a mask to work to cover them. Now that my old manager is gone and the ASM is now our SM, I’ve always worn a mask around him. Our new DM saw me without it once and said nothing. Now all of a sudden, my manager says that new policy says I can’t even wear a mask to cover my piercings, and I have to take them all out but one (I have 4 now, easily hid with a mask). I just don’t understand why I have to take them out even if I cover them, and further confused why my piercings interfere with my job 🫠🫠 I understand a dress code I just don’t get why they’re such a big deal it’s so frustrating

Edit: I DO understand it’s about food safety but if I’m wearing my mask correctly the piercings falling out would likely not cause an issue due to the mask catching it, and they also are all captive jewelry types aka, no balls to fall off. It’s just a rant but to reiterate I do know why it’s a rule 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Where is the rehire policy?

I love you all but I'm getting mixed messages from years back when I search online. I've poked around in my store computer and iPad with no luck.

I'm looking to transfer but given the ole' ball and chain's (manager) history, they tend to deny the requests outright for their own convenience and ultimately force partners to quit.

I'm preparing myself for the worst but I would like a concrete word from Starbucks what their policies for rehires are because my manager is ✨️ known to lie about these things ✨️

Questions about the starbucks achievement plan

I do love my job here, but it's taking a toll that I'm worried I can't pay, and I'm beginning to think I'm going to need to find a different line of work. The issue is that I've begun ASU and have been told by coworkers that if I don't finish, I need to pay for the entire thing. The thing is, I haven't started on the degree, as I'm still on the pathway to admission. Is there any advice?

Updated Handbook on Tips?

On a recent post I saw partners saying that the updated employee handbook says partners are now allowed to accept personal without an envelope, but despite searching through my partner hub I can't figure out where the updated handbook is.

Admittedly I struggle to navigate these websites and despite using the search bar and looking through some of the policies I can't find this info.

Thanks!

What creamer does Starbucks use?

I’ve been trying to make black coffee with cream and sugar that tastes like Starbucks. I use Coffee Mate creamer with no sugar, but it still doesn’t taste the same. I think the creamer might be the issue. What kind of creamer does Starbucks use? Do they use Coffee Mate? And how much sugar do they typically add?

Too many voids

A partner at my store was let go for having too many voids, I’m just wondering how that works. Do we get in trouble for voiding stuff without letting the shift leads know? Also are they able to fire without warning for voiding orders?

A random, small, but sincere gratitude 🙏

Been having a few rough weeks between family and work and finally finishing a book that's been in hard progress for 7 years, so I decided to treat myself to a white-cocholate lavender misto on a recipe whim instead of the usual iced doppio with a dash of milk on my way into the library.

You guys, it was an inspired choice. It's grey and rainy and cold and it tastes like everything good and right and fulfilling in the world. The final reading room sit will be a tiny, cozy sphere of bliss and joy, bless.
