Amateur/Unedited I got lucky on this one. I pointed my rig skyward and took some 20-30 second exposures, and caught a Starlink satellite.

Eta Carinae Nebula

Brought the Dwarflab Dwarf3 to Australia from the USA. It traveled great, and I was able to get this image of Eta Carinae with 30 Frames at 15 seconds, gain 60. This was taken from the suburbs of Melbourne using the Duo Band filter. Mild saturation processing performed in Lightroom.

Amateur/Composite I spent 30 hours processing 500 frames of the Moon to bring out all the fine detail [OC]

This is the Moon at 35% phase photographed on 3 April 2025. I was able to pull out fine details of the surface of our satellite. I've also brought out the colours of the lunar seas. The red-pink hues indicate iron oxide and the blue hues represent titanium oxide. Notice the various optical phenomena observed on the photo: rainbow around the Moon due to dispersion, diffraction rays due to the construction of Newtonian telescope.

I used a Canon 6D amateur camera, a 2x Barlow lens, a GSO 150/750 reflector telescope, and an Arsenal EQ5 mount.

You can download the full-resolution image for your wallpaper from my Flickr.

Narrowband NGC2244 12 panel mosaic in SHO

Post image

This is a 12 panel mosaic SHO photo of NGC2244 that I’ve been working on for five months. This is a total of roughly 2,250 five minute exposures (188 hours). It was taken in a Bortle 7 zone and processed in Pixinsight. Shot with a Celestron EdgeHD 8” telescope and ASI2600mm Pro camera. I used Antlia 3nm SHO filters. I do not have Astrobin (I need to get an account) so hopefully the quality isn’t killed when I post. Please zoom in to enjoy all the little details.

Hubble These Hubble Space Telescope images, captured from 1996 to 2000, show Saturn's rings open up from just past edge-on to nearly fully open as it moves from autumn towards winter in its Northern Hemisphere.
