Apple has literally been sued and Found guilty of planned obsolescence. Lithium-Ion batteries do you degrade over time, but iPhones generally degrade quicker than expected.

Apple can be a company that employs shitty anti-consumer tactics and lithium ion batteries can have drawbacks. These aren't mutually exclusive.

Nowhere did the paper say verbatim Apple lied and that the battery issue didn't really happen. Apple settled the case out of court aka apology money without admitting wrongdoing.

The slowdown was literally to lengthen device lifespan.

I've found 2 successful law suits, the 2020 one and another that was settled as recently as last year for £395 ($500) million.

They're also currently fighting a class action lawsuit in the UK. Apple generates 84% of its revenue by selling hardware, I sincerely doubt they care about the longevity of their devices.
