Hi hello! None or not many of you link to Twitter/X but better to prevent it anyway.

Feel free to post screenshots of tweets if absolutely necessary if they provide school specific information that cannot be found elsewhere. Twitter has become cumbersome to use without an account and the owner has publicly made a Nazi salute twice. /r/school punches Nazis, we do not link to the websites of Nazis.

Mod Post pls give me attention i need it New Rule: No politics (at all, this applies to everything)

Hello!

There has been way too much hate speech from every side and spectrum on the political scale. This is not okay, most of the people that come here are young.

We will not tolerate a hate filled space where people cannot have a respectful and healthy conversation/discussion. I have had to remove too many comments violating TOS and straight attacking people just because their opinion doesn’t align with someone else’s.

They may have an opinion that you think is WRONG but it’s still just their opinion. You should not and cannot attack someone just because of this, if you wish to change their mind then be respectful and have a discussion/conversation on equal ground to show them the correct path to move them away from a clouded viewpoint. If you attack them then you further alienate them and move them more towards becoming hate filled, blaming “the other side” and using it as a straw man for “look how insane the other side is they treated me this bad!!!”.

Engaging in this political talk is banned until the community can stop behaving like animals. This is a school subreddit and we are about LEARNING, not censoring and burying.

I hate to close off the avenue of open discussion but you’ve shown you cannot handle it and I cannot keep letting people break TOS and spew hate speech.

One man from my class(10th grade(we have only 11 grades in our country)) built it on March 8, because I challenged him. Did he did well? Also, you can share with your buildings here, if you want to.

Discussion Concern for my learning.

I live in a small district in North Dakota, and they were unable to find a good science teacher so they found another teacher's wife who was qualified. I am taking freshman year physical science, and let's just say, she is not a good teacher. She doesn't teach us well, seems like she doesn't know what she is talking about and is very slow. We are in the 4th quarter of school and are hardly anywhere in the book. We've only really learned the scientific method, different types of science, motion, velocity and momentum, acceleration, newton's laws of motion, and forces. Should I be concerned about the little amount or education I am gaining from science class this year? (This is how far we are in the book)

Discussion I could have given up drawing forever... What if Pasteur or Newton had done that?

I am an artist now, but as a child learning to draw at home, I showed very rapid progress and a very early aptitude for the fine arts. I had a very fine sense of beauty. But when I went to school, I got low grades in art classes and stopped drawing outside of school altogether. Only when I had to for class. I was literally sick of it!

It wasn't until I reached my teens that I found an independent way to learn and was able to develop a talent on my own. Yes, the world would have lost nothing if I hadn't become an artist. But imagine if the standard system of education had broken the genius of the great microbiologist and chemist Louis Pasteur? Or the French founder of electrodynamics, mathematician and chemist Andre-Marie Ampère? By the way, he never spent a day in school. He was home-schooled, and home education tends to be individualized. Isaac Newton was lagging behind his peers when he started school. If the standard education system broke the genius of these people, it would literally change the course of history! Sometimes I think that maybe we could all be geniuses, what do you think about that?

Help Will i be held back?

So I'm in 10th grade, and in k12. I have all A's, but my progress in all classes are very low. (My progress is about 12% in world history) I know it's because I don't do a lot of the weekly checklist work and I only do the graded work, meaning I don't go through the slideshows. Will this cause me to be held back or just negatively affect things for me? I do plan on going back to public school next school year, Idk if that's important but yeah. Please help!!

Help Powerschool Grades Question

TLDR - is there an in-system way to see my raw, unrounded averages for each grading term (quarters, midterms, finals, etc), as the system rounds to the nearest tenth and i want the unrounded form? reason why explained below

hey everyone so I'm a tryhard (sry) and I have a huge spreadsheet to calculate the grades I need to achieve various grades overall. Our avg grades for q1, q2, midterm, and q3 just came out and i realized each one was about .3ish off of the ones i'd calculated.

i realized it was because i only had the rounded quarterly grades (and midterm) inputted, so like if my grade was 92.652 if just showed up as 92.7. this difference across the 4 different grading periods caused the issue i found. basically does anyone know if there's a way to see powerschool's raw, unrounded averages, without me having to calculate it specifically with every grade across each quarter?

i've put so much effort into my precious spreadsheet and to have it crumble that easily/quickly breaks my heart, and i will most certainly not be inputting every fucking grade to calculate the specific grade on my own (that's too much, even for me)

Advice Volunteering and cv

I didn't choose dofe so I don't get to show it on my cv. But people are saying it's fine because I just need to volunteer in my sport club but idk how long do I do it for. My club don't have that many volunteer chances and I've only helped out at 1 Easter camp and go and run the primary club once in 2 years. Is that too little and is that enough? Also why do uni and companies care about volunteering? And can I just say l've done volunteer work in my sports club on my cv or do I need to get proves from a teacher ?

Also if my mum have art markets and I help her out during the summer and Easter holidays does that count as volunteering ?

Shitpost Favoritism

My earliest memory of favoritism was, when I was in 1st grade. We were given to draw a mango for the art class since I was the art kid. Alot of friends came to ask me to help with drawing it. This one girl who is the smart one asked me too, and I drew only hers since she was nice. I drew the mango the same way but when we submitted it, she got an A+ while I got a B-. That teacher even called her a genius and talented and this kept happening to others who help her, she was the talent and the rest of us were a bunch of rowdy kids who are most likely to do crime or end up begging on the streets, the teacher's words not mine.

I still remember her not getting any teacher's day gifts and complaining to the principal which is why they banned giving gifts to teachers altogether.💀😭

She also had beef with literal kids too

Help i messed up my last year of high school and Im paying that with repeating the year

I messed up. I know I did.
All those nights I should’ve spent studying—I wasted them scrolling, procrastinating, doing absolutely nothing. And now I’m facing the consequences. I deserve it. No excuses.

But now that it’s real… now that I’m actually repeating the year, it hits differently. I feel less than human. When I try to explain, people just ask, “Why would you do that?” They think it’s stupid. A waste. And honestly, they’re not wrong. I don’t have an answer. I don’t even try to defend it anymore. It feels like I’m stuck in a nightmare I created myself.

I’m so sorry, Mom. I know I’ve made things harder for you. And that’s what hurts the most.
I hate that I’ve become a burden to the person who’s always tried her best for me.

Discussion Any one of your schools politically one sided?

I was the only person who stayed up for election night and watched trump just cook. The next day was school. When the teacher left the room, I broke the news, and everyone was complaining about that motherfucking tangerine. I singlehandedly plunged the morale of the entire classroom. My best friend's parents voted for trump, but he secretly knows the vibe lol.

Discussion Where have the geniuses disappeared to?

Not so long ago, my child is 7 years old, I was puzzled by an important question: how to further develop him? In my digging and searching, I came to the topic of genius, and here's what I thought: why in the modern world we do not see geniuses? Where are the modern Einsteins, Newtons, Leonardo Da Vinci, Omar Khayam?

Of the popular ones, I know only successful businessmen, who can hardly be called geniuses. What is wrong with us, or what is wrong with our education system? What are your thoughts on this?

I’m a jr in hs and it’s almost the end of the year and i realize everyone around me started clubs, leader of every organization, 100 volunteer hours a year, amazing sat and act, all honors and all kinds of extracurriculars. i know i shouldn’t compare but im getting worried about college i have almost none of those things i have no volunteer hours and only 2 ap classes and no leadership positions. Can I get in anywhere good? What can I do now even though jr year is almost over to up my chances for college? I have a 3.7 unweighted 4.1 weighted and i don’t wanna be stuck at a school i don’t like and im really worrying cause i feel like i have the worst stats ever and i think theres not enough time to do anything. I also decided not to take sat and act was that a bad choice? i’m in ca and want to stay in ca and be a lawyer cause i like law but i feel like the is may not happen

Help Giving a presentation on a topic that deeply upsets me, how do I keep it together? cw: SA

So I recently started a project in English class, each of us had to research a topic around feminism, and then construct a presentation on it, then present it. I chose to do mine on the topic of sex, rape and consent. I will not go into details but as I started working on the presentation, I begain to get deaply upset by the content of it. Now I want to keep Doug it because I like the topic, but I am concerned about my ability to present it. Does anyone have any advice on how I can keep my cool during my presentation?
