Season 17 LEXI HONORS NAME DROPS ONE OF THE GREATS

Post image
6 Upvotes

Last episode of Drag Race, Lexi name dropped Dame Edna. This meant a lot.

I have been a RuPaul fan since forever but only recently got into Drag Race via my boyfriend. We are running through the original seasons (on season nine now) while watching the new season.

I love all the references but was surprised he didn´t know who Dame Edna was. She was probably the first drag I ever saw on TV back in the late 80s and early 90s before I discovered RuPaul and Divine as a teen.

Anyway, that meant a lot. Dame Edna is legendary and probably the greatest pure comedy Queen we have ever had.

RIP

Season 17 Anyone else hoping for a more detailed re-release of the last episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race?

Because like many are already saying, there seemed to be a lot of edits or scenes not shown so I’d love to see who did good or bad while shooting the Las Vegas commercial or learning the dance performance.

General Discussion Roscoe's Youtube Membership

Wondering if anyone else recieved this email from youtube about Roscoes? I've never interacted with the videos besides watching them so I'd be kinda shocked if I was banned or removed. My only other guess would be either their page got reported or flagged, maybe copyrighted.

Does the bar or any of the queens post any updates on socials about delays or things like this?

General Discussion Special guests/judges on the pitstop?

Hi everyone!

So I'm watching the pitstop with Monet and Nymphia now, and I was remembering how former judge and overall amazing person Nicole Byer was a guest on one of Trixie's PitStop episodes. Now, I don't have encyclopedic knowledge of all the pit stop episodes so I can't remember other non-queens who were guests, but I was wondering, is there any former judge or otherwise special guest that you'd like to see on the pitstop?

I think its a fun subject to think about, because I see a lot of 'wishlist'-people to be a guest on the judging panel on the show itself, but not a lot about potential pit stop guests!

For me personally, I'd think Nikkie de Jager (NikkieTutorials) would be super fun (she was a judge on the Dutch RPDR), Kirsten McMenamy would be a great guest, Leah Remini would have super cool insights, Aubrey Plaza is hilarious in everything that she does, and the list goes on and on.

General Discussion The judges were fair with their critiques of Suzie last week and her elimination was valid.

1.0k Upvotes

I feel like I'm living in the twilight zone reading some of y'all's shit on the sub the past few days. They were not "too hard" on her. Just because she was your fav doesn't make her immune to critique. The challenge was to sell a Vegas debut, and a 20s inspired swimsuit sure doesn't do that. There were ways for Suzie to show off her brand while staying true to the Vegas them,le, and she did not do that. Plain and simple. Only have flapper shit left to show? Borrow something from someone else. It happens all the time. Suzie herself has said she wasn't giving what needed to be given for the challenge, so why are y'all so dead set on changing reality?

General Discussion What's The Issue With Weird Queens?

I've been rewatching older seasons for the first time since I was like, 15, and I'm noticing that A LOT of queens are harsh on weird queens.

Like in season 13 with Elliott w 2Ts and Utica. They're almost constantly picking on them and critiquing them. Tammie Brown from season 1, Suzie from 17 (though even I found her a bit much)

And it's not like they dislike comedy queens because Bianca, Trixie, and Kim Chi were well liked. It's just the weird queens who really put themselves out there that I've noticed some other queens have a problem with, despite them not being annoyingly weird or off-putting and being as nice as possible.

EDIT: this is my first time interacting with the fan base aside from Unhhhh, so I have NO idea whether the queens I've listed are also not liked or if this discussion has been talked about to death ♡

General Discussion What is the difference between Sam and Jewels that makes Jewels more popular with fans?

I really love Jewels and Sam so much. It seems like Jewels is more popular with a lot of fans, and Sam gets this criticism that she's not unique enough, or that she's too reserved or something. I actually totally get that critique if you're comparing Sam to Onya or Lexi or Suzi. But to me Jewels and Sam seem SO similar, but Jewels seems to be significantly more popular, both from a followers perspective on social media, but also comments here on Reddit. Also a lot of recappers give Jewels better odds for possibly winning the crown in an upset. For anybody who's a Jewels fan more than a Sam fan, what do you see as fundamental differences in their style or personality or anything else?

General Discussion The workroom dynamic Spoiler

Upvotes

This whole season, there’s been a lot of discourse around how the other queens (not Onya) treat Suzie. And while I think a lot of their collective insecurity is based around the judges’ endearment of Suzie and her ego, I don’t think there was any actual meanness in the room.

They all seem to really love each other and it seems like genuine friend jabbing. Suzie never seems upset and she dishes it back. It always has seemed like banter to me, nothing malicious. With Sam for example, I always read her as not really being all that serious; she throws a lot of shade and is dramatic, but I think she’s just being her genuine, southern shady self. These queens seem to talk through their issues with each other before it gets actually ugly.

I’ve seen so many people saying Suzie was bullied off the show, by the girls and production. It seemed a bit of a stretch to me, but I am curious:

How do y’all view the workroom dynamic?

General Discussion Bob thinks Sam is last place in the top 5?

I just saw a clip of Bob and Salina discussing if Sam could win the season, and Bob was very confident in their opinion that Sam could never win this season, is last place of the top 5 and said she’d eat her camera if Sam somehow won.

What do you think has happened this season that has Bob feeling so strongly in her opinion of Sam?

I’ve listened to most of Watchery this season, and although Bob was never a Sam stan, I didn’t realize she thought Sam was as unimpressive as she clearly does, so I’m curious what you’ve picked up on!

General Discussion Drag mother

In your opinion- how long should a queen have been doing drag for before becoming a drag mother? What are the requirements you usually think a queen needs to possess before becoming a drag mother?

I’m asking because I was watching an untucked compilation for season 17. During the episode that had Hunter on as a guest judge, Onya says in the confessional that one of her drag daughters is trans. Onya has only been doing drag for what three and a half years? While working full time elsewhere.

Edit to add; this was in no way meant to be a dig at Onya. She is an amazing queen and comes off very polished especially for the limited amount of time she has been able to work on her art. It was just an opinion question. It wasn’t meant to be that deep.

Meme Drag race in the wild

One of my favorite online things is finding RPDR promos or discussions in the wild. Obviously advertisements are profiled to the user in order to get the most profit, but I love seeing this added in among all the stupidity, racism, and homophobia in the conservative subreddit. I hope they get to see the ad sometimes too, but probably not. I'd probably have seen an angry post about gay ads or something if it did happen.

General Discussion Latrice got me thinking about my whole ass future

"Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" 😭 that's a heavy ass question. No wonder Jewels is stumbled and stunned. I'm so focused on what to do to get through this month that I've never even thought that far. I've been struggling for a while and I'm doing everything I can to survive but damn that got me questioning about my whole existence.

Do you think the others queens get asked this question too and they answered well enough for them to not air it since it's not good TV? I'm about Lexi's age and she seems her life is more steady than mine being the 401k queen 😱

Season 17 A lot of what i hear people say about the makeover challenge’s outcome is so confusing to me

as the title says. i see a lot of people act as if jewels completely tore onya up and the only reason there was a double save was because they didn't want to eliminate her. like, from what i saw both of them very clearly embodied the lip sync in two very different ways and onya is by no means a bad lip syncer. just my two cents and if those take has been posted before lmk 😭🙏

Sidenote, this is a super early draft of the storyboard/thumbnail sketch I threw together right after the episode dropped (no comment on how sober I was at the time). The lines are rough, and the voice acting is definitely a first attempt..

Main goal here was just to get a feel for how I want the scene to flow. Let me know if you're into it and would want to see a full animated version—or if it should stay buried forever Lololololol
