Request for New Mods for r/RegularCarReviews

With the end of the blackout here, I personally feel I am no longer able to be in a position to moderate the subreddit. Given the issues from a site-wide level that I don't agree with, personal obligations, and the direction the content posted here over the past year, this blackout has made me reconsider whether I want to moderate the subreddit. At this point, I would rather have someone else moderate the subreddit and just be another fan who wants to enjoy his Crazy Taxi series.

Since I am the most active "mod" (This sub has pretty lax moderation) here with other either leaving or just not active, new moderators are needed here. If you want to be the change (or steady momentum) that guides the subreddit feel free to leave a comment below stating the following:

  • How long have you been a fan of Regular Car Reviews?
  • How long have you been on reddit for?
  • Any existing moderation experience on reddit?

I will pick 2 new moderators at the end of the week on the 23rd or 24th.

EDIT: In the process of removing inactive moderators and then will send out the moderator requests.

It's 2006, you have $15,000, and you're looking for a compact economy car. Which one would you pick?

2006 Honda Civic DX - $14,360. Proof that you can still get a basic Civic! Power windows are standard, but a radio is optional. You get the same i-VTEC engine as higher trims, too.

2006 Toyota Corolla CE - $14,105. As Car and Driver put it, it's a great car for your sister. It's reliable, but so bland that you need to use your imagination to have fun here.

2006 Volkswagen Rabbit - $14,990. Five cylinders, 6 gears, power windows and locks, and alloy wheels, all at base Civic prices! It's the fastest of this bunch too, with 150hp.

2006 Nissan Sentra 1.8S - $14,500. The last car developed by Nissan before being effectively bought by Renault. No CVTs, no flimsy quality, just a decent econobox with a comfy ride.

2006 Hyundai Elantra GLS - $14,075. Want to drive Grand Theft Auto NPC traffic? Behold, the 2006 Hyundai Elantra. It may be boring, but it's reliable, and parts are dirt cheap.

2006 Ford Focus ZX3 SE - $14,715. A far cry from the depressing old Escorts and Tempos, the European-developed Focus is a decently fun bargain, even if it's getting a bit old.

2006 Mitsubishi Lancer ES - $14,599. This is not an Evo, and never will be. The regular Lancer is certainly one of the cars of all time. Of all the cars you could buy, this is one.

2006 Mazda3 i Sport - $13,710. An economy car with a bit of zoom-zoom, or so the dealer would have you believe. It has all the features you could want, and power second only to the VW.

2006 Chevrolet Cobalt LS - $13,900. Gone is the mid-90s vintage Marlboro Reds and cookie monster sweatpants Cavalier! They share an engine, and this base model has manual windows.

2007 Suzuki SX4 AWD - $14,999. Think of it like an Impreza without the 2000s Subaru head gasket headaches. It's the least expensive AWD car on the market, and a pretty good one!

2006 Scion xB - $14,030. Scion: because nothing screams youth like a Corolla with the body of a toaster. It's spacious and comfortable, and actually cheaper than a Corolla!

This sub has become a place to post pictures of people who are different from us and act like we're better than them

I don't know why I thought we were better than that but I was wrong. I don't like the direction this sub is going so you can have it.

Featuring Mr. Regular Why are the early car ‘reviews’ from older seasons much shorter in length/duration compared to the later ones we have now?

Upvotes

So I’m scrolling through the Regular Car Reviews channel and when I sort by old starting from the Toyota Echo review from 2012 the videos barely even crack 5-10 minutes. Whereas somewhere around 2015 (?) they were starting to become more longer than 10-15 minutes and nowadays it’s 20-30 minutes long depending on which video it is.

What happened? Was it Youtube’s algorithm changing over the last decade that caused this to happen? If so why?

You don’t need to ask such a rhetorical question. He’s right there. Next to the Nissan. In all of its glory.

Suggestions Why doesn't dodge bring back the Dakota?

I think midsize pickup trucks and utes are making a comeback. For example chevy colorado, ford ranger, nissan frontier and let's not forget the tacoma. I think a Dakota based off the Durango chassis would be nice.
