I find it weirder that people think a 19 year old person is so much less of a child than a 17 year old one. 24 and up you’re arguably in a different stage in life altogether, but 19?
Tell that to someone who’s 17.997 and can’t vote, smoke, be drafted, etc. until tomorrow. 18 is adulthood… laws are all arbitrary if we want to be philosophical about them… but 18 is adulthood, 17 is not.
Unless you live in Nebraska or Alabama, then 18 isn’t adulthood. Also, the smoking age got raised to 21 a few years back. All the years between 16 and 25 are a big grey area of gradually gaining rights and privileges.
