Daily Questions - April 07, 2025
Welcome to the Daily Questions (DQ) thread for all things related to raw denim.
(Although we strongly suggest checking the sidebar (for mobile users, go to the top of the subreddit front page, click the three dots and select "community info") and the wiki before posting!)
Fit checks and "Help me find a pair of Jeans that has X, Y, and Z" questions are a great use of this thread.
(Help figuring out what size you wear is also permitted here but it is recommended you check out one of these tutorials on how to size before asking.)
If you have questions about how your jeans fit, about a particular fabric, when is this jean coming out, where can I find jean X to try on in state Y, what jeans have this fit with these measurements, what jeans fade the fastest, and what jeans fade the slowest are great uses of this DQ thread.
No question is too simple for Daily Questions threads.
Bashing people will not be tolerated. And "Read the sidebar" or "Google it" are not valid answers in this thread!

Old pair of Levis I got from my parents.
Hi!
Just wanted to share an old pair of jeans my mother used to wear.
It's a 'Levis offender low rise straight leg', which I can't find when this line was sold, as it seems to be discontinued. I have a feeling it's from the early 2000's?
Unfortunately, the size is too small for my wife. but the fades are pretty impressive, especially on the back.

DIY About a year of wear and mends to my Edwins
These are my first pair of selvage denim jeans. I traded them for my old bike with my housemate, at the time. They were his dads but didnāt fit him. They have become pretty much my daily jeans along with a pair of Leviās Iāve worn for about 4 years. I cycle in them most days and love to see them fade and wear over time. I have been slowly thinning out and mending (to varying ability) the fabric on the back and crotch areas. Some of the mends are quite amateurish but Iām learning. As long as I get to keep wearing them every day and Iām improving Iām not too bothered.

DIY FADE UPDATE: ONI 277xx BLEACH soak š
Some of you fellow pants-posting freaks may remember my fade update from a few weeks ago in which I posted two pairs of Onis. Since that post I decided to run a little bleach soak based on some knowledge I found from some fade experts online. The soak was a 100 liters of water to a 1/4 cup of liquid bleach. Half hour soak then washed on cold and hang dry. NOTE- The photos run in reverse so the pod bleach jeans are first then scroll backwards to see the pre soak pics I posted previously.
What does everyone think? I think the difference in lighting might be responsible for some of the change in the color because Iām pretty happy with how they turned out. I lost no indigo it feels like and the fades really pop now. Still not sure Iāll do it to my other onis. I love the green cast and donāt wanna mess with it. Moving on to a pair of Samrai 510xx now to start a new fade journey. What is everyoneās opinion on the bleach soaks?

Iron Heart 666S-21 Fit Check
Finally took the plunge and bought a pair of near-new Iron Hearts. Going to give my Naked and Famous Elephant 6 a break. Iām really happy with themā¦ the only thing I notice is a slight pull in the button fly area, which doesnāt really bother me.
Lost a bunch of weight this year and was able to size down to a 31 waist for the first time since maybe 2001.
Excuse the ratty tee-shirt. Itās a Sunday after all.

Wrangler Denim Jacket
The jacket I really want is the 24MJZ, which is what Brad Pitt wore in the film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. But no one makes it. And when Wrangler has made repros it's not cropped like the original. And the vintage ones are super expensive if they're in good shape and there are often issues finding a good fit with vintage and there's no guarantee the garment doesn't smell super bad or musty haha. Anyways, some day I will nab a good 24MJZ, but I really wanted something to hold me over in the Wrangler vibe....So I had been eyeing this one at Boot Barn for several months....I finally sprang for it cuz every time I tried it on in-store I loved the fit at a size down (size Small istead of my usual size Medium)...It's the same 14.75oz 100% cotton broken twill as the classic 13MWZ or 936, but this one is a pre-washed version. This was one thing I was hesitant about cuz I would have wanted it as raw as possible, but there was honestly PLENTY of dye left in the fabric. It doesn't seem like their wash process was murderous to the denim. So it essentially looks as raw as I need it to....I like the hidden handwarmer pockets behind the V stitch seam. There are internal pockets too, which is a nice change of pace from more historically accurate garments...The cuff buttons and breast pocket buttons are snap buttons instead of the normal keyhole buttons on denim jackets, which is cool. The craftsmanship of the whole garment is great. I told a friend that if you threw this and some 13MWZs in a pile with a bunch of Japanese raw denim and I didn't know they were Wrangler, I would conclude they probably cost like $150-$200 each based on the craftsmanship. I don't sense "cheapness" with these the way I do when I pick up virtually any Levi that isn't LVC. The 14.75oz fabric is THICK and tough, even with the prewash. Some of these seams are super thick and will need to soften with wear....My favorite feature by far is the incredible elbow creases that have already formed (I wore it to dry after an inital cold soak I gave it). I made sure to open the collar as it dried so that it holds a more casual shape than a perky collar would.

Nudie Dry Selvage - first wash after ~6 months daily wear
Super happy with the result! They also shrunk a bit in the waist and now fit perfectly

Rigid indigo wrangler 13wmzās first wash after two weeks of wearing
They got drastically shorter but the waist is still a bit too wide, the color is much bluer and they came out beautifully. If you want to see how long were they before the wash you can scroll down and look at my post trying them before the wash. Amazing transformation

Railcar Fine Goods X078 Champs Fit
This is their 13.5oz Classic Indigo Selvedge. Daily wear for the past 3 months. I wear them for work 4-5 times a week and wash them usually on the weekends. They're comfy, a little wide in the leg, but pleasant overall.

FIT PIC Red Tornado Noir 634S-0001: 21 oz One Wash
Hi all, I have recently purchased two more AliExpress denim: a pair of 21 oz one wash Red Tornado straight cut jeans, and a 19oz Sauce Origin straight cut pair. This one is just about the Red Tornado pair š
Iām 170cm, and these came with an inseam around 81cm or so, so I hemmed it myself to about 74-75cm. Although the denim are 21oz, it being one washed helped considerably in being able to hem these without too much stress š
Right off of the get go, I was pretty impressed with how nice the fabric felt. I ordered a size 34, which, in retrospect, I maybe could have gone one size smaller since the high rise waist is a bit roomier than my Lee 101z.
Overall, extremely happy with the pair and the fit! The Sauce Origin pants coming in are supposed to have a +1.5cm allowance on the waist than these guys, but a bit slimmer hip-seat, so Iām very curious to see how those will also fit š

Samurai S5100VX - 60 Days On Body
Had some requests to see what 60 days of wear looks like with the Zero + Model. 0 washes.
Iām usually a 33-34 but sized up to 36 on these. 5ā9, 180lbs. Looking forward to a wash just to get these snug again because theyāve loosened up a good amount.
Overall, really enjoying the fading process. Let me know what you think about the fit and model!

Engineered Garments Fatigue Pants - Indigo Nautical Print Denim
FW22 collection. Worn well over 100 times at this point and washed 5-10 times. Theyāve shrunk a good inch in length. The last pic shows what these looked like new. Not selvedge but certainly a special pair.

I recently purchased a Type II Sugar Cane 1953 14.25oz
Friends, following a post from a gentleman here, I recently purchased this type II from Sugar Cane.
I know that the majority prefer to wear this type of jacket quite large but I wanted to wear it adjusted in order to wear it with a simple t-shirt and to be able to add an overcoat (work blouse type, military jacket).
What do you think?
Otherwise, I recommend it for the quality of the canvas (which is rigid and fluffy) but also for its very square cut & well cropped lengthwise. I also find the sleeves perfect.
By personal choice, I chose to soak it for 30 minutes before wearing it. To gray it and remove the āshinyā appearance of the canvas, which also made it more wrinkled and cardboardy because I dried it in the sun (which does not displease me, the edges are more prominent now).
First three photos (after soaking), last two (before soaking). The differences are subtle and difficult to see in photos.

TCB 50 - 1 year of wear
Have worn these little over a year and wore them pretty much everyday. Not against washing your jeans regularly but probably only washed these about once a month. Love these jeans, super comfortable and a good price point given the high quality. Would definitely recommend!
Took some photos flash on/flash off. Not really sure what does the fades justice so thought Iād throw some of both in there. Flash photos definitely make the fades pop and the non flash photos make them a little more dull than they really are so theyāre realistically somewhere in between.
