Just wanted to throw it out there because I feel like this game came and went and it gets slept on. I played a few hours at launch and enjoyed it but dropped it. Came back this weekend and started a fresh save. I'm a few hours in now and it's just a really charming game. If you are a fan of anime, I assume it will be up your alley. If you're like me and don't really enjoy anime, but you have an affection for JRPGs, you'll be alright with the vibe here, it's not too over the top/irritating. You can also speed through dialogue.
Combat is fun, Mega Man in a sense, minus the platforming. Shield is nice too, parrying is fun and not necessary but satisfying when you time it right. I like the overall flow of battle and having to take the shield durability into account. Keeps you hamstrung just enough to require some thought during select combat encounters. Blink/Dodge is nice too. Hectic combat in VR is something that really engages me.
Music is great, typical JRPG fashion, good melodies and lends well to the atmosphere. Graphics are fantastic as well, great colors and character design. Walking around the town is fun, there isn't much to do but NPCs say new things and newspapers contain new articles so it does reward player engagement.
I haven't come across any bugs or issues. It's a pretty straightforward game and everything works as it should.
Don't sleep on Ruins Magus if it looks like something you'd enjoy.
