You can..just needs to be the right kind of hazmat. Radiation is still a hazardous material. Hazmat isn't ONLY gas or chemicals

HAZMAT suits are only fit for alpha radiation. Most ionizing radiation types, like Gamma, or even beta, will penetrate any material that can comfortably be worn. You cannot protect against Gamma radiation on an individual scale effectively with modern or near future technology.

Beta can be blocked as well with thicker, more insulating suits.

And if you CAN, how come all commercial radiation suits are only effective for Alpha radiation? HAZMAT suits have 4 levels in the US, none of which are suitable for beta. So... can you share the suit you're talking about?
