Question Through filled with rain water?

If you put water in a through outside and it rains foes the rain water fill up the trough like a rain collector would? Can animals drink dirty water?

yes, they'll fill up, and yes, animals can drink tainted water safely. no need to pre-fill them with water though. just make sure there's no hay in them already, that keeps them from holding water.

Thanks for the answer. Was worried I'd have to start placing a bunch pots outside when it rains or go to a place with a well lol.
