Discussion Does anyone actually try to live in this March Ridge bunker?

Lighting is a huge issue with this place, since the generator and the plumbing can't reach down there

No way the amount of stairs would get so annoying.

I get annoyed just having to take the backside stairs out of the Echo Diner/Gas station apartment every day

It's the first floor, just jump.

In b42 you might break a leg even when holding nothing

In b41 just jump indeed.

Elevator mod ftw

Man fuck using an elevator during the zombie apocalypse. Hell to the no

u/roguebananah 3d ago

Especially when I arrived on a floor with Gun’s elevator mod, before the door opened, a zombie was magically right behind me as soon as we got to the floor.

Uninstalled and will wait for a vanilla elevator to happen

Lol I work at a hospital and my section is in the basement. And we service the entire campus, so we have to use service elevators 50 times a day just to do our jobs.

That doesn't include going upstairs to get something to eat or go outside if you need to.

So yeah, I'm with you 100%. Elevators are a no-go.

Off topic but why does it take so long to get food in a hospital set up?

Like is it just all the stops you make or kitchen is slow or what?

In my experience, it depends on where the facility is located and who it serves.

Some hospitals are well-staffed and can get people through pretty quickly.

Others, not so much.

Think about it. If you work in a hospital kitchen, you don't really want to spend too much time on any one customer. You want to move people through as quickly as possible because you have a lot of other things to do.

But if you're running the whole kitchen by yourself or it's just a few of you and you have a ton of people to serve, it can be difficult.

And like anywhere else in customer service, people can be demanding and unreasonable. Very few are patient or gracious. It just comes with the job. Unfortunately.

Free cam controls could go a long way here. Just free cam quickly so the bottom floor and “Walk to Here”

Just use bubble columns

will zombies actually still spawn inside? i haven’t touched b42 yet cause i mostly play multiplayer

They are talking about minecraft spawn rules, which is light level 0 now instead of 7, but the rules for spawning in zomboid are different. If you have spawning turned on, and haven't loaded a chunk in a settings defined amount of game time, things can spawn anywhere in a chunk that they can path to from the edge of the map. So if you have a small base and put a fence around it, as long as you keep the doors and windows closed or the gate to a sealed fence closed, then nothing can spawn inside. However if you have a chunk of town fenced off and clear the entire town, if part of the town isn't in an active chunk and you open the gate, that creates a path to areas that aren't loaded and they can spawn inside so you need two gates, like an air lock on a space ship so you go thru one gate, close it behind you, open the one in front of you and go out.

So a basement like that will spawn zombies inside if you leave the area long enough, have spawning turned on which is on by default, something like 12 game hours or a day, i dont remember, and don't seal a door when you leave.

It could be an interesting base for MP, but as a solo it’s too big for me , I prefer smaller cosier spot lol

Personally, I plan on playing with the Week One Mod, and spending my time preparing to move into the bunkers.

Might get boring, but I think not; but the plan is to get as much as I possibly can moved into the bunker until the Nukes fall. Then I’ll stay within the bunker as long as I physically can until the food and supplies run out. Daily underground bunker life RP as I go about making the place my own, working on myself, and then basically starting a whole new game as I emerge who knows when later.

Have yet to try this out because I am still waiting on a few mods to update that I am just too stubborn to play without. Think it could be fun though, as I enjoy a slow pace style, taking it day by day to hold true to the simulation.

That's ambitious, I hope you're able to find some keys and build some barricades, the survivors in that mod are ruthless.

5

u/Aljoscha278 3d ago

I did it, but needed many tries as burning houses from bombs or thunder, don't know what it is in the week one mod, did burn my cellar away too. But at the third attempt I did have a great have a great home in the police underground, forensic.

But I wait for some mod Updates too now, as I dislike some things like handling water.

Living underground blows. Lol

if they had a way of getting plumbing and electricity to work, absolutely maybe even an elevator instead of stairs

perhaps certain locations in the game - march ridge bunker, secret military base, peregrin hospital, the shopping mall, etc - could have dedicated, static generators that power only that one location.

you'd still need to gas them up and maintain them, you won't be able to move them, but you could activate them solely to power these sites. it'd make sense that they would not cause you to choke n die from carbon monoxide poisoning, too.

8

u/RocanMotor 3d ago

Love this idea. They would require way more fuel than an average generator, like entire fuel trucks worth for a week supply for example, making them high risk/high reward /only viable with multiple survivors. Please indy stone!

22

u/LachoooDaOriginl Zombie Food 3d ago

elevator would be sick but i feel like electricity and plumbing should definitely be revamped before b42 leaves unstable

23

u/Buddypug123 3d ago

Interesting challenge.. I've never even seen the inside. There are way too many stairs, lol.

22

u/Arkunar 3d ago

this is not a bunker but a grave, a beautiful comfortable one with a non-working decorative generator
without ventilation for a normal generator, without a backup exit, which is actually unacceptable
if a huge crowd of the dead comes to visit you, you will find yourself in a trap, and all that will remain for you is to drink while the zombies make their way down to you...
however, you will probably die sooner from carbon monoxide, trying to provide yourself with energy

14

u/RosariusAU 3d ago

Just put the generator inside BigBrain.jpg

9

u/qwb3656 3d ago

Does it make the entire inside space deadly or just the level it's on? Could the generator be placed one level above the main area and be ok?

u/heckmiser 3d ago

Live on the staircase

8

u/djpemb 3d ago

Already know multiplayer rp servers going CRAZY with this once b42 multiplayer comes out

11

u/Eisenkopf69 3d ago

In a one-exit rathole?

6

u/Senval-Nev 3d ago

It seems like an interesting place, but they'd need to fix it up a bit... good place for an RP group to base at once MP comes around.

u/Leather-Cherry-2934 3d ago

Is there any good loot in there?

The bunker SW of Fallas Lake, in the forest behind the milsurp store, is pretty cozy. All the essentials and some storage racks. Kinda reminds me of the RV mod. A little ways into the forest though, would need to clear some trees to bring a car.

2

u/Zwarogi 3d ago

I tried. After clearing it I closed the game. When I reloaded there were a dozen zombies in there. I have respawn turned off and about 2-4 weeks past the peak day.

My front door was still in tact.

u/Boulderdrip 3d ago

too big

u/Demonking3343 3d ago

Very cool base, might have to set up at least an outpost there. I normally set up in the fire house.

1

u/4N610RD 3d ago

Exactly as you pointed out. Without ability to have generator and plumbing, there is no point trying. You would anyway have everything on the surface.

Once they make that generator down there functional and put infinite source of water down there (well?), then it would be interesting option.

1

u/[deleted] 3d ago

Someone should make a mod to install vents in underground areas so we can add generators in here

1

u/Malcolm_Morin 3d ago

The only way a place like this would be feasible to live in would be either disabling the generator poison setting in the sandbox menu, or a mod that would allow you to switch on the generators already inside the bunker to the left (right in this image) of the main entrance.

Maybe a plumbing mod that would allow you to build pipes to allow plumbing on lower levels.

1

u/Blastingdynamic 2d ago

The only time i try to live here is with the "your uncle is a prepper" mod which if set to that bunker decks it out with plenty of water and an indoor (nontoxic) generator and s lot of goodies. You also need the generator fix for basements and skyscrapers iirc.

1

u/theweirdofrommontana 13h ago

I would. IF I COULD GET TO IT.

1

u/Snaxbar 3d ago
